The rooms are beautiful, as is the hotel in general. The staff are all lovely - friendly, knowledgeable - and the food is incredible. A small & exceptional, friendly & comfortable hotel in a great, very central (but quiet) location.

The room we stayed in (room 6) is disability friendly/ completely accessible, which is great. Minor feedback would be that the door is very heavy and stiff to open, with a door knob which is hard to use. This is completely understandable with the solid doors, just something to be aware of if you do have a disability. The toilet flush needs a few goes so might need a little tlc.

A perfect hotel for my taste - quiet, select and very comfortable room, with a superb speciality Fish Restaurant as part of this small boutique property. Amazing wine list with some classic wines on offer. The greatest point about our stay was the warm welcoming and caring staff, who appeared genuinely interested in your satisfaction and welfare; something so rare these days. The staff are the greatest asset to this delightful hotel and my special thanks go to Kevin and Erica. We will be back!

Almost nothing! Perhaps Croissants and Fresh Fruit would have been nice at breakfast, as I detest cereals.

Fantastic building sympathetically decorated to feel contemporary whilst respecting the period building. Room was super comfy, bed was fantastic. The cooked breakfast options are many and it was freshly made - so allow some time for this. I had veggie cooked breakfast which was hot, delicious and very filling. Multi storey car park on the back of the property and was only £2 for the night.

The restaurant is a fish restaurant and so the hall-way was a little fish smelling but the room was fine. It wasn't the quietest room but then it's in the town albeit the quieter end. The Townhouse provided ear plugs if needed - I may have used them initially but soon removed them.

You could not fault this hotel for location, cleanliness, staff, food, comfort, facilities. The ONLY thing that the hotel didn't have was parking, but as it is so close to the station, and to the town, a car was completely superfluous in order to enjoy Darlington.

Because the restaurant is known for its fish, the lobby sometimes retained the smell of cooking, though the doors are opened throughout the hotel to air it in the morning.

Beautiful spacious bedroom. My only criticism would be that the wet room floor gets very slippery after showering which was a worry for my husband who has mobility issues. This is due to the tiles on the floor being very smooth with no anti slip on them. Also. It would have been nice to have some bubble bath for the beautiful roll top bath.

As above. The wet room should have non slip flooring. Better tea and coffee selection would be better also.

The central location was very good for access to the shops, restaurants and public transport. The townhouse is a lovely building with tasteful decor and furnishings, and a high standard of cleanliness. It’s an older building so does not have extensive leisure facilities such as a spa or gym. I stayed for two nights in a standard King room facing the front; and although there was some road noise I slept soundly both nights as the bed was so comfortable. Wonderful staff, friendly but not intrusive; and the extensive breakfast menu served freshly cooked was excellent.

Staff kind, helpful and attentive, clean and stylish room with HUGE bath. Classy decor and breakfast delicious! Restaurant was busy on the evening which was fab to see as the food is clearly amazing! Didn’t eat in the restaurant for tea this trip but may next time after seeing how popular it is!

Room got quite cold at night, especially bathroom could do with harder pillows or more pillows for bed and a thicker quilt during winter season mini body washes would also be great for bath in room. as we didn’t bring own and it was attached to wall in the shower.

Location, an easy walk from the railway station; size of room, bigger than I'd expected; comfort of room - four poster bed, bath AND walk-in shower (though no soap provided next to the bath); lovely restaurant (though only used it for breakfast). The place also has a new, fresh feel despite being an old building. Often times old buildings are creaking and fusty; not here. Overall, a very comfortable place to stay.

As is often the case, the restaurant shut far too early in the evening for me to use, at 8.45pm; I'd like to have eaten there. Residents need to be given a front door key; I returned to the hotel at 10.30pm and had to hammer on the door to be let in. If they're going to put a bath in the bedroom then provide soap too. Only bottled soap is available in the bathroom. But these are details; the positives hugely overwhelm these niggles.

The owners of this hotel certainly understand what their clientele want and they deliver on every aspect. The staff were extremely helpful and delivered an excellent/bespoke service. If you re travelling up north, go out of your way to stay here, and you will not be disappointed. I very much hope to visit again.

There is honestly nothing to dislike!

Great location - 10 minutes walk from station and very close to town center. Also in a relatively quiet part of the city. The room was large and clean and well appointed. It had a night light in the bathroom for safety. THANK YOU!

Liked everything. Would return! The only thing we would change - more flexibility on the bed covering. The duvet was very warm and even though we turned the heat way down — it was too much. There was a bit of road noise around 6-8 am but ear plugs really helped. Generally a peaceful and lovely locale.
