Very busy and loud in the bar areas but expected because it was over a bank holiday Pillows in room were slightly hard for us, but that’s just our preference Would’ve been nice to have bigger mugs in the room for tea and coffee Breakfast in general was very good bacon slightly overcooked and hard sausages not as good as on our previous stay

This was a fabulous little find. The room was perfect, the breakfast had a great choice and on the Sunday we had a roast and I think it was one of the best roasts we have eaten for a long time.

The only thing I might say was that the car park was a little on the tight side for our car but I genuinely feel that it wasn't much of a problem at all. Presumably if we felt strongly enough about it we could have paid to park somewhere else for our visit. Also, once we were parked we then got taxis back and forth to the venue we were visiting.

We liked everything. Even the hotel car park was better than the on street. The staff (mostly part of the family that own the hotel) were more than helpful from start to finish. Our room (8) just outside from reception was well equipped and immaculate. We were meeting family to attend a nearby wedding and they agreed that this hotel was a great find. Breakfast was lovely and without any surcharges at all. We dined in on our second night and that was good too. Huge fish & chips, meaty pie, yummy verges. Though we were lucky enough to get a table, please book ahead. This is an extremely popular venue.

The over-bath shower could do with a grab handle. Menus and equipment instructions (towel rail operation etc) would be handy.

Nothing tbh. The only thing I would say is we stayed in the accessible room as my cousin who is in a wheelchair was going to come and watch a movie with us and have a girly night so we thought it would be nice to be in the room. But when she came in to see the room she wouldn’t have been able to get her electric wheelchair down the side of the bed. Which would have meant she would have had to get onto the bed from the end which would have been possible for her but not ideal and possibly not an option for another wheelchair user. It’s wasn’t a massive deal for us and we still had our girly pamper night at her place but just something to consider. It’s an accessibility room but may not be as accessible to everyone. But we had a beautiful stay and will be back! X

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay here. Everything was perfect. Friendly, helpful staff. Spotlessly clean. Lovely hot shower, room was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. Comfy bed, lots of storage space, tea/coffee/biscuits and toiletries provided. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and really tasty with a great selection. We'd happily stay here again

We went into the bar for some food in the afternoon but were told food service ended at 3pm and wasn't being served until later that night so we had to go elsewhere to eat. Would have been good If we had known at check in

The property was cleaned to a high standard and well presented throughout with fresh & modern decor. Our room was an ample size, not too big but still plenty of space especially in the bathroom, no tiny shower to squeeze in and out of plus sound proofing in the room was fantastic, our room was right above the restaurant/bar and we were able to comfortably sleep. Breakfast the next morning was great with a wide selection of options available and caters to all with both meat & vegetarian options

Nothing that we didn’t like, would just be the icing on the cake if they allowed dogs so we could bring our little one with us next time

Room and facilities were excellent, very comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. Overall impression was of a clean and well maintained hotel. Friendly and welcoming receptionist was a lovely start, though all staff were excellent throughout our stay. Breakfast was very good and the dining room comfortable. We ate 2 evening meals and 3 breakfasts in total. All was good with dinner. Beers and wines were good value and service was great.

Noisy outside the bar (on the street) on Saturday night, but quietened down after 11pm Parking was a bit hit or miss; small hotel car park was disorganised as it is not clearly marked as to where you're expected to park, street outside hotel can be available but is mostly for disabled drivers/cars. We managed.

Staff were so friendly and couldnt be more helpful, they provided gluten free and lactose free solutions for one member of our party and gave us a breakfast to take away when another of our group had a hand injury and had to go to hospital. Excellent breakfast and evening meals, we ate one night in the restaurant and one night in the bar area as we hadnt booked a table and was busy but was still lovely. Great location with easy walk to the river, Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle School and many bars and restaurants. Parking was easy. Rooms were very clean, we had fresh towels, tea and biscuits replaced daily. Would certainly stay again and recommend to others!

Room was a little too warm and was on main road so couldn't really open the window but there was a fan in the wardrobe so they must know of the issue, but definitely wouldn't stop us staying again!

We had a GREAT overnight stay at the Three Horse Shoes Hotel - although we actually stayed across the road in their annex - The Stables. Everything was modern, new and perfect. Fully Equipped kitchen, huge comfy bed, washing machine and drying rack with portable heaters, plenty of room to spread out, and security for our touring bicycles. They even included a cooked breakfast for us the next morning - which was unexpected given that we had a kitchen - and it was a great start to our day. We'd certainly stay here again.

The food in the restaurant in the evening was excellent, recommend the steak and ale pie ! Breakfast was of a high standard and the staff could not do more The location was spot on, 5 minute walking distance to the Castle and river.

We were in room 2 which is at the front of the premises. Room was lovely with everything you could need however could be a little noisy at night as it was right above the entrance to the bar and the pavement - but after a couple of pints of the wonderful ale at the bar , I slept like a log
