Peter and Serge are the consummate hosts, making you feel welcome and catering to your every need, from a wonderful breakfast to help with local transportation, should you need it. The property is beautifully maintained, the rooms are generous and well kept. We stayed in the area to attend a wedding and are thinking of visiting again to spend more time in this lovely part of the region.

Everything was great. Even George, Domaine de Monge's charming co-host and the world’s most melancholy dog, managed a world-weary wave of the paw at the end.

The breakfast was outstanding, and enjoyed under the trees in the beautiful garden. Serge and Peter made certain everyone's tastes were met, and a bottomless pot of tea and coffee. The bar in the bathroom when climbing in and out of the shower was a very welcome bonus, as were the luxurious towels.

Steps are a bit of a challenge for me, but the handrails either side made the climb a little easier. I expect steps/stairs in these beautiful old buildings so this isn't a complaint as such.

We were hosted at the lodge for 2 people: much more space than needed, which provided a much more satisfying experience. The apartment offered any equipment you would need for a stay, even a longer one (we only stayed for 3 nights). The domaine includes a lovely perfectly-kept garden, swimming pool, and even an open area next to the river bank. The lodge had a private yard with outdoor furniture. Everything decorated with exquisite taste. Few accomodations could bring such offer for this price. Serge and Peter are the best hosts you may come across, friendly and dedicated. They make you feel at home, working hard to ease a familiar atmosphere among the guests. Delicious breakfast with fresh products, even supplying high-quality gluten-free bread or other requirements when needed. It's a perfect option to relax, but also offering lots of nearby sightseeing options. We would definitely come back if possible!

Coudn't have been better!

This was a wonderful stay. Serge and Peter are very warm and helpful hosts. We were incredibly pleasantly surprised at the size and beauty of our bedroom, and the decor of the whole property. The only noise you can hear is birdsong. Beautiful outdoor pool and sun terrace with the water at a lovely temperature. A huge and delicious homemade breakfast each morning, with fabulous eggs to order from Peter, fresh fruit, yoghurt, and tasty jams by Serge for your bread and croissants.

We loved the peaceful location, the only small flip-side of that being that you do have to drive or get a taxi to reach the local restaurants or other locations - that said, Peter helped us get taxis on a few occasions and it was a great service.

There is nothing not to like about the Domain des Monges, Peter and Serge are fantastic hosts, very friendly and so helpful in every way. The Domain des Monges is a beautiful house with a huge garden, pools and river frontage, the rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. Breakfast was delicious, freshly made with home grown produce and fresh eggs from Peter and Serge’s chickens every morning. Excellent standard all round. Peter and Serge made our holiday on thè Dordogne memorable. Highly recommended.

Stylish, comfortable and understated, you could not ask more of our stay at this country hotel. In beautiful gardens on the banks of the Dordogne, this meticulously renovated grand house is near perfect, thanks of course to its wonderful hosts Serge and Peter. Beautiful bedroom, marvelous pool, a breakfast that was stunning. Home-produced figs and honey with yoghurt, fresh pastries, their own eggs and so much more. Recommendations for local restaurants and sights. Stay here before you die, more than once.

Gorgeous property on the banks of the Dordogne, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated throughout. Incredibly charming, friendly and informative hosts. Breakfast in their lovely gardens is a dream. The epitome of quiet, timeless luxury in a peaceful location but near to many great places to visit. We are already planning our next trip!

Nothing, everything was perfect

Everything! - first of all: the hosts are lovey. They give you all kind of tips what to do in the area. They have business cards for everything ;) They do everything they can to make sure you have a great time. They make the place extra wonderful. - the domaine: it’s a beautiful place. The swimming pool is nice. There is a fridge you can use and there is even a barbecue. The garden have several spots where you can just sit and drink some wine (or enjoy the lovely breakfast…). The room was beautiful en very clean. The hosts have a great taste when it comes to decor. - yup, the breakfast: fresh orange juice, pancakes, croissants, baguettes, delicious French cheeses, coffee, yoghurt, home made jams and honey and eggs (doesn’t matter how you like them: boiled, scrambled with smoked salmon !!, omelette with vegetables…) You will not be short of anything here. And everything is just so delicious. In short: we stayed 6 days and had a fantastic time, with lovely hosts, in a gorgeous domaine in a beautiful area. We highly recommend this place :)

Beautiful property with fantastic hosts. The room was clean, extremely comfortable and spacious. Having access to a lovely big pool was really great. The hosts Peter and Serge were wonderful- they were so warm and welcoming and helped us make the most of our time in the area with dinner suggestions and maps. I cannot rave about the breakfast enough! It was so fresh and delicious from homemade juice and fresh eggs to warm pastries, fruit, yoghurt and homemade honey. We felt so at home here and would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

A very wonderful place with love wherever you look, making every moment feel special. The gorgeous rooms make you feel like you're living in a castle, while the fabulous gardens and pools add to the luxurious experience. Breakfast, meticulously prepared by the owners, was perfect in every detail—I promised to come back!
