My wife and I loved the entire St. Elmo experience, both the hotel and restaurant/bar. It's an historic gem of a hotel, lovingly restored and cared for. David is an exceptional host. Very, very comfortable with just enough "modern" updates so as to not distract from the fantastic step back in time. The restaurant food, and service, is also excellent. For the budget conscious like my wife and I, our stay at St. Elmo was a real splurge, but we do not regret it and will always remember it fondly.

We have absolutely no dislikes. But, if you have issues physically climbing stairs you might have to pass. All rooms are on the second floor with only staircase access. FYI - We do not have any physical issues but our host David still insisted with helping us with our luggage. Very nice!

The vintage feel of the whole property was awesome! For how old of a building it is I was truly amazed at how well kept it was. Very neat!! Plus the parking behind the building made it easy to find a spot. The streets are usually filled up with other tourists. Once parked you can easily just walk around the town. All the shops, bars and restaurants are with in walking distance. The Bon Ton Italian restaurant/bar attached to the hotel was EXCELLENT!! the food was delicious and the staff, Austin and KC were a blast to talk to at the bar. We even chatted with the owner Dave and Blake his son about the hotel and off road trails in the area. Very cool!! We ate here twice during our stay. Because we were on the trails before breakfast we only made the included breakfast one day while staying at the hotel, but it was really good! So good we wished it was earlier in the morning so could have enjoyed it every day! Don’t miss out on this one!! The staff there work really hard and are super friendly. We were even able to check out the other rooms before new guest arrived which was really cool as there doesn’t seem to be any that are the same. Each one has its own character and charm!! Please tip the staff!! They deserve it!!

The ONLY negative was the lack of air conditioning in the room. I heard that some do it, so make sure you ask before booking if that’s an issue for you. At first, being it was late July with temps in the 80s I thought it would be uncomfortable, but at night with the ceiling fan on it didn’t bother me. The temperature does drop at night in Ouray which helps.

Prime location on Main Street in Ouray - can walk to almost anything from the hotel. Very cute rooms, staff was very friendly, and the fresh made breakfast in the dining room was an awesome way it end the stay!

You can hear EVERYTHING in this hotel from the other rooms. Every door opening and closing was clear as day and any talking in other rooms. People were generally respectful and keeping to quiet hours, but if you have any sensitivity to sounds during sleep, please bring earplugs. Also would be nice if the front desk had some ear plugs as well. Same goes for light sensitivity - the long rectangle windows above each door do not block any of the hallway light, so that was beaming directly onto out bed all night and made it harder to sleep as well - bring a eye mask if you have light sensitivity.

Breakfast was made to order and was very good. The cook was very engaging, efficient and friendly. The decor and antique furnishings were charming. We loved the overall experience and would do it again.

We were there at an unseasonably hot time for this location and the room was a little too warm even with the fans. One of the tradeoffs when staying at a historic old hotel and no fault of the staff or owners.

This historic hotel is under new ownership so, as nice as it is now, pretty soon it’ll be even better. Check in was easy and we received a free drink at the bar of Bon Ton, the hotel’s restaurant. Decor is charming. Courtesy breakfast was great-fluffy pancakes and eggs to order in the breakfast room. Nice experience all ‘round!

Bar área and restaurant will be better soon! Stairs, but There’s no elevator.

The breakfast here is awesome! It’s like good home cooking and was so nice after being in the road for several days. We enjoyed visiting with others at the large tables. Bring some money to tip the ladies because they are great!. The hotel location is perfect! Walking distance to everything! We stayed in the room in the basement and enjoyed having a little kitchenette and an entrance from the back of the hotel.

Beautiful old hotel decorated very nicely to match the era of the early 1900's. The lobby was gorgeous with lots of stained glass accents. There are only 11 rooms so it's cozy. Our room was very comfortable with windows that actually open. It was like staying with family more than staying in a modern motel. Loved it.

Stayed in the suite in the back of the hotel. It was a great place to stay… clean, comfortable and plenty of space. The suite was right next to the parking lot and hot tub making it very convenient. It was also separated from the hotel which made it a bit more private. Barely saw any staff or other guests the entire stay, which was great. I believe this is a newer room than the rest of the hotel so you may have a different experience if you’re staying in one of the hotel rooms.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast eggs were cooked to order and the chef was very friendly and accommodating. We really liked the decor that fit the time. For the location. The location could not have been better for enjoying the hiking trails and surrounding area.

A lovely historic hotel in the heart of Ouray. Easy walk to restaurants, shopping, bars. We had it as an overnight stay only but it really fit the bill. Room was quaint and great value for money. Staff were amazing, great little restaurant / bar next door. Breakfast was ample, not a full buffet breakfast but certainly enough and served in a small dining room, making it cozy.

A couple of the usb points didn't work but that is the only thing I can pick on!
