The hotel is stunning, we loved the facilities and the space. The stuff is super friendly and helpful. The hotel is super clean. The view is great. We stayed in a private pool room, which was worth it.

Really minor things that wouldn't change our decision, but if I had to say something: There was no shade in the pools (except specific area in one pool), food in the room service was ok. The beach was pretty disappointing, you can use the hotel sunbed only if there are free ones, however, it is open to everyone (not only hotel guests) and if the beach is crowded you might not have a bed.

Clean, great view and great service

The pool is quite cold, and when I requested to increase the temperature, I was told that it wasn't possible due to hygiene standards. As a result, I paid for a very expensive room but couldn't enjoy the pool unless the outdoor temperature exceeded 30°C. The shared pool is even colder. I've stayed at several hotels in Greece where the pool was heated to 30°C without any extra charge. Additionally, the private beach service ends promptly at 6:00 PM, with no food orders accepted after 5:00 PM, and the beach chairs are removed at 6:00 PM sharp. All nearby beach bars close by 11:00 PM, why would they be the only one? Another point to note is that the hotel restaurant is smoke-free, so if you smoke, you'll have to dine outside the hotel every day.

The staff went above and beyond mannerly, helpful polite and welcoming. The pool areas kept beautifully as where the gardens borders and planters. The food was lovely fresh tasty and plentiful. Our room was just lovely we were welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine and fruit, cleaned perfectly each day and bedding changed regularly, great shower with shower gel shampoo conditioner and body lotions, lovely outdoor furniture and loungers and a fantastic large plunge pool. The fridge stocked with bottles of water daily. Free shuttle service into Plaka and return, and a service to and from the airport (payable to hotel) worth it. The views are spectacular overlooking the beautiful Spinalonga Island that as such history. The lagoon is breathtaking with the mountains shining down on the glimmering water. I could go on and on, we will definitely return.

Absolutely fantastic! We had villa in the last row - great views, mostly calm (except music from neighbours), villa is perfect, great mattrasess for great sleep, pool temperature absolutely fine (end of July), free minibar replenished every 2 days (just for villa option I think), very good restaurant Kelari, smiling employees, proximity of beach and small village with OK restaurants. Worth every penny and visit. Will definitely come again.

Breakfast offer limited, not 5*. Strange policy with beach deckchairs (absolutely not enough for a number of beds hotel offers) - you either came early or wait till afternoon when someone lefts - else you are seated in a bar for hours. When I went to the bar (of the hotel, 15m from the beach) for a lunch, they immediately wanted to give the deckchair to some other - this policy wasn't the same for everyone - probably the personel wanted a tip.

Yes, we spent a lot of money on staying at Cayo, but then what we experienced was living in the lap of luxury for a week! We booked a villa and we weren’t disappointed. Spread over 3 floors and including a gym room with treadmill and exercise bike, plus complimentary mini-bar that was restocked daily, and of course, the private pool, I’m not sure we had much reason to venture out very much! It’s true that the villa is not what everyone chooses, but it was an excellent choice for us and well worth the extra we paid. The staff were excellent. The breakfasts were superb (thank Heaven for the bike and treadmill to try and minimise the damage of over indulgence). And, for the time we stayed there, we really did relax. Although each room has its own private pool, we did use the main pools in the hotel area - two large pools, separated by a terrace, with plenty of loungers for each, and the upper one next to the hotel bar. We can’t comment on dining at Cayo because, apart from breakfast, we ate at restaurants in Plaka (as a rule, when on holiday, we tend to skip lunch and have early dinners, and the options available in the village suited us better). Plaka is only a short walk down the hill although there is a shuttle service from the hotel if you’d prefer. We didn’t get to Elounda although it is only a short taxi ride from Cayo and looks to be a lovely port town. For relaxation, for quality family time, for excellent facilities, for friendly staff, for scrumptious breakfasts, for great location (remote but within easy access if you’d prefer more activity), I’m not sure you can beat Cayo. It’s firmly on our list of places we’ll return to.

I’d be nitpicking to comment on what we didn’t like and, to be honest, I can’t really think of anything. For what we wanted from a holiday (total relaxation, experiencing luxury, being able to keep ourselves to ourselves), it ticked all the boxes.

Wonderful location with views of the sea and Spinalonga Island. We walked each evening the ten minutes to Plaka village for dinner. The breakfast was amazing! every possible need catered for, from cereal, fresh fruit bar, yoghurts, many types of bread, pastries, cakes, waffles, pancakes, hot food, juices, prosecco! Staff were lovely! wonderful poolside bar for lunch, great food and cocktails! Made use of the gym to account for all the excellent food! The accommodation was very clean, attended to daily as was our little pool. Proper coffee machine, fridge, water provided daily. The accommodation was on many levels to optimise the views, a cable car is provided to take you up. We rode on it to take in the view from the top!

my only suggestion would be from an energy perspective, we didn't need towels changing every day. I like the idea that you can place on the floor if you need them changing, otherwise they can last a few days.

A beautiful hotel with absolutely stunning views. Has a very new and spotlessly clean feel. The staff were amazing friendly and attentive throughout. The “cable car” style lift was very unique and lovely to use. They have a beach bar which is also great and very comfortable sun beds, with waiter service, which are free for hotel guests. The walk to the beach, beach bar and village is only 10 mins max but there is also a free shuttle that runs all day, on demand, especially if you don’t feel like the walk back uphill. When we booked it in the day at the beach bar, they gave us ice cold water and an ice cold towel while we waited (all of about 3 minutes!!). A true sign of quality. The food in the hotel was good but we ate a lot at the restaurants on the seafront. Many great ones to choose from and beautiful settings. Would highly recommend CAYO and Plaka

Gorgeous hotel. Staff were excellent and attentive. Very clean. Free shuttle bus down to Plaka beach. Amazing views of Spinalonga and the bay. Loved the bedrooms with private pools.

Limited restaurant opening times. Very steep pathways to the rooms as hotel is built on a steep hillside (but there are a couple of funiculars to help). Random opening of the beach bar.

The room and the view was amazing and the staff was extra helpful and super nice. We felt like they done the best they could to make us feel welcome and to make sure we maximize our fun. The hotel is amazing and built in a very sophisticated and comfortable way. We traveled with a 10 months old and the staff was super considerate and very helpful with arranging all the baby stuff.

The weather was too windy, so take under consideration that it might be a problem if you plan to travel in mid October.

Stunning hotel! Loved our room with a large lounge pool and the twinkly lights in the main pools. We really enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was excellent. Plaka is a lovely village with some nice restaurants and shops and just a 5 minute walk from Cato.

Nothing, my only comment would be to consider making it adults only to keep the peaceful feel.
