The pictures are a true reflection of the place, very beautiful

Rudest kitchen lady I've ever met, rude and hostile towards us as guests, when you politely ask for something the lady doesn't respond she just walks away and say nothing, something as small as asking for a tissue in the room, honestly my holiday was spoiled by that kitchen lady and seemingly people have been complaining about her on the reviews from 2022 but seems like the manager doesn't care

Pictures in description are misleading. The property is NOT located close to the beach. The property is on a hill overlooking the sea. You need to take a car to get down to the beach. Patio on the pictures are not taken on the property but at the restaurant/ Hotel next door.

Although we accidentally chose the wrong room, the manager was quick to assist us with a free upgrade. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Although it's quite a walk to the sea, there are plenty of facilities when you get there (although for some reason - probably because of the winter waves - I was not allowed to swim. The views from the room and balcony were amazing and there is a viewing platform. There is an excellent restaurant next door (you walk via the property) and the breakfast at the guest house was great. Generally, I would highly recommend this guest house to other travellers

The Booking.com system did not accurately reflect the rooms available and you should rather find the property's web site to get the room you want.

Everything was amazing, the veiws, the room large, the balcony cozy,the breakfast yummy, we were given information about the closesy restaurant which was literally next door.

The staff member was not a very welcoming person,she was smiling on the phone when we arrived but then when she switched to talk to us, complete change in attitude and facial expressions, me and my husband thought maybe she was just having a bad day that day but the next day she was still looking like we mistreated her in our previous lifetime.its a shame because she is such a good cook and seems capable in every other aspect.

I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be quite charming with some unique features. The location is absolutely stunning—perched on the mountaintop, you can hear the waves crashing all night long, which creates a soothing atmosphere. While there’s no direct access to the beach (you can only enjoy the view from afar), the scenic landscape more than makes up for it. However, the steep entrance can be a bit of a challenge, especially for low cars. Leaving the property requires careful navigation to avoid rolling back and to stay aware of oncoming traffic. On a brighter note, the staff were accommodating. Breakfast was delightful, and thanks to tips from other reviewers, we managed to make the most out of it. The place was immaculately clean, which I greatly appreciated. They even allowed us to check in early while they completed the final touches of cleaning—this was incredibly helpful after a long journey and made us feel very welcome. Overall, our stay was enjoyable, and I would recommend this hotel for its breathtaking views and attentive service.

The bed was comfortable, though it did make some sounds.

Fabulous view of the beach from a stunning deck. Magnificent sunrise across the sea. Sound of the waves all night. Very secure. The Tides is high above the beach. Staff were completely geared to working groups and could accommodate early breakfasts. Fabulous cooked breakfast.

The threatening "cash deposit needed in 48 hours" auto-letter you receive from The Tides after booking online ... which contradicts all assurances and payment dates laid out by Booking.com. The place was booked full. Two of our colleagues were 'upgraded' to an establishment down the beach - and into a room where the shower did not work. Staff gave one of our rooms away to another guest just minutes before we arrived... and we needed a negotiation to get it back. Get there early.

The ocean view from the room with its floor to ceiling windows was stunning. The lawn was clean (no dog or cat poop) and the landscape manicured. The bed was so comfortable and the shower had good pressure and temperature control. Cleanliness was top notch. As a digital nomad, I appreciated having a desk inside the room as well as a table and chairs to work on on the porch. Internet was fast. I would definitely come back for a longer term stay. It's perfect for surfing digital nomads.

The reception was friendly and polite. The cook was not. The cook ignored me when I came to breakfast. She is the most laconic and brusque person I've ever met working in hospitality. She does not belong in the customer service and hospitality industry. She would rather keep watching her soap operas on TV than actually do her job.

Everything about this place is serene. We were not even aware that breakfast was included on our stay. That was great the food was well prepared. The staff is very friendly and they do house keeping daily.

I should actually be gate keeping because this place is a gem. I didn't like that I forgot my keys hundreds of KM away.

This was my 2nd stay, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Excellent views, and we were able to do some whale watching. It was an awesome experience . The room was spacious with comfy bedding. Room number 4 really exceeded my expectations. It was very peaceful and tranquil.Breakfast was great .

The Tides Inn is a place to be when visiting Durban. It has excellent sea view. One can wake up early in the morning and enjoy the waves whilst sipping a cup of tea or coffee. The breakfast is great. Everything is value for money.

It will really be helpful if the staff member on duty could be cheerful. It is not good to be served by someone who is moody.
