Stunning house and property. Swimming pools were both very nice, and having an adults-only pool close to the bar was ideal. The staff were amazing. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a classic flair hard to find in this price range. The provided breakfast was excellent. The free yoga class was very enjoyable. The restaurant was good but seemed a bit less than equal to the rest of the experience.

The bed was a mixed-bag; while my partner loved it, I could never get comfortable. Overall value was a little disappointing.

The property is set in a beautiful location, absolutely picturesque. The views are incredible and the house is in immaculate condition.

The property itself is absolutely beautiful and I could not fault the place or staff who were extremely helpful and go above and beyond. However I was disappointed with the room we paid for. The room itself was described as “Superior twin room - Garden house” the images on booking.com showed a balcony, but we did not have a balcony. This is misleading, and was the reason we paid extra - to get a balcony. We checked the images on booking.com again and other rooms didn’t have a balcony, So the room we paid for was what we should have got. I don’t think a room with a balcony and a room without should be priced the same. This is misleading. The dinner was ok but not the standard of a 5 star resort. However the breakfast was beautiful.

This hotel is absolutely wonderful — the property itself is one-of-a-kind stunning and peaceful, with a gorgeous view over the park and a historic home that has been updated incredibly tastefully to entail luxury hotel amenities. But what really sets Casa Palmela apart is the service — it is detail-oriented and elegant but also warm and welcoming, making a stay here actually feel as if one is being welcomed into someone’s home.

Well, the people and the location was just excellent, so I should not say anything, BUT of you push me - just one thing, the contant beeps of the telephone and airco when turned on and off - yes, that was a thing like 25 years ago, but not anymore

The service was outstanding in every aspect. The staff made you feel at home and very relaxed in this beautiful, intimate property. One member of staff that really stood out was Joao in the restaurant, impeccable and exceptional interpersonal skills. Also, the food is delicious and a very good wine selection is available. A must is a massage from either Hannah, both highly skilled and delightful. The house dog, Wisdom, is the master of all as most Dachshunds are.

Absolutely beautiful, serene and charming; you could walk for miles without leaving the property. Staff exceptionally accomodating and courteous. Food very good.

The pools had no guard rails to get in and out. The shower had no anti-slip mat. Bathroom lacked face cloths. The bed and bedding were not to the standard of the hotel. More fruit at brealfast especially berries would have been welcome.

We had a wonderful time at this amazingly located gem of a hotel. Even in the pouring rain, this place looked spectacular. We loved watching the clouds roll in and out over the mountains. Staff were exceptional, so professional and kind. We loved the food and the kids had such fun exploring the grounds with a little bit of freedom. We will definitely be back. Such a quick ride from lisbon, even in a Bolt if needed.

Extremely tranquil setting. You were surrounded by peace and quiet all round in a beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely accommodating of us and our little dog throughout our stay. Luxurious and highly recommend. Close to the beautiful Arrabida. Also close to both Sesimbra and Setubal for amazing food options.

We would have hoped that there were free bicycles to explore the vast trails and grounds of the property.

Location is amazing and extremely peaceful and quiet. Perfect to relax.

Staff seemed a bit underprepared, although always helpful. Food is good without being amazing. Having a biologic garden, I would expect another type of cuisine, where the “home” ingredients were the heroes. Meaning everything was good without being memorable. Overall, it all felt a bit overpriced, although I would come back for the quietness , comfort and the fact that is ao close to Lisbon.

Lovely location & woods. We loved the restaurant, when Juao Sousa was on service. When he was there service was attentive and worked really well with local food & wine recommendations. Some of the other staff seemed untrained or unsupervised, which we felt on the days when Juao was not there.

Service is something they need to work on. Staff are friendly and attentive, but a lot are either untrained or unsupervised, we are not sure which. Reception staff have no knowledge about activities and don‘t help in coordination. They just give you an email address, which is unsuitable for a house with a 5 star rating. Coordinating their tour operators is something reception should do.
