The location is far from the tourist buses, but you can reach Triberg by a short, fun train ride.

The service at the restaurant could improve--culture and language misunderstandings.

Very nice hotel in a great location in the middle of the Black Forest. Very nice staff on the front desk and a good breakfast.

Avoid at all costs being served by a blond young lady if you are having dinner at the property. Bear in mind that we were informed by the front desk that the last time for ordering food was 20:30h. The waitress kept coming to the table every 5 minutes to ask if we were ready to order food even when we had just said no (there were menus in German and English, none is our first language so we needed some time to translate a few words in order to decide what to order) and she kept looking at her watch with a very annoyed face (as they were about to close, but it was 19:45, we still had plenty of time...) Felt totally uncomfortable by her pressure and it was not even close to the "last order" time.

An incredible location, perched on a mountain spur overlooking a charming little Black Forest valley town, by the ruins of an ancient castle. Glorious views from the rooms and the dining room. Exceptional service at check in and at meals. Excellent food. Rooms comfortable and peaceful. Lovely woodland hikes available straight from the door. The hotel will collect you from the train station if you phone them.

Our bathroom was a little oddly shaped, but that's the only negative I can recall.

Idyllic location on the berg overlooking the small town of Hornberg. We have stayed here five or six times previously and it always feels like coming home, as the entire staff is so friendly and helpful. All requests are always fulfilled with a smile. Breakfast, in the beautifully windowed dining room, is a feast and the ability to make your own waffles is a tasty bonus. The immediate area offers great trails to hike up or down the mountain.

An elevator would be nice, but not necessary. Hornberg town itself, needs more restaurants.

The property was a charming building in a beautiful setting, with absolutely stunning views. The rooms were very pleasant. Bathrooms were clean and modern, and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the German duvets. The dining room was gorgeous, with delicious dinner menu and breakfast buffet. The owner and all staff were friendly, accommodating, and just very nice people all around. I highly recommend this hotel.

Dinner was excellent, location was great, staff was very friendly. We loved our stay here! It was a bonus that we could hike up the castle and also go inside! It felt very peaceful and cozy yet so close to everything by car.

My only complaints are that there was no coffee maker in the room and it said breakfast was included on the booking website I used. Besides that, everything was great!!

The location was stunning, the room was very large with a wonderful view down the valley. Evening meal excellent

it was very warm and the room got hot. Fans would have been welcome as would thinner bedding. It would also have been nice to sit out in the garden on relaxing chairs and read.

Beautiful location and the hotel really complements it. Good quality restaurant (incl. breakfast). The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious and well equipped.

In one way the interior is in need of some renovation. However it does have a certain charm to it. Although the breakfast was good quality, it would be nice to have a bit more variation from day to day. Of the four days we spent there, only one day offered something different to usual.

Exquisite positioning, benefiting of fresh mountain air and a superb panorama over Hornberg. Very good quality of the food in the restaurant, quite diversified. Staff attentive to details and responsive. Very good experience overall.

Maybe the sofa in the family rooms could be upgraded, although they do provide a basic level of comfort. The bed is quite convenient though.

The hotel was excellent - comfortable, good dinners and breakfasts, helpful staff. Right next to the castle, great views up and down the valley. Interesting building with links to local history. We found out (but only after we'd arrived and carried our bags up from the railway station ) that they would have given us a lift if we'd arranged this with them ... but we didn't know this before we arrived ! We took advantage of their offer to drive us back when we left ... If you're coming by train, you'll be much happier if you get a lift !

The web description says the hotel is only 250 metres from the centre of Hornberg - which is why we set out to walk. That's probably true, if you measure in a straight line, like google maps does ! But it's actually much further and all uphill - you can get there up a steep winding footpath from the village directly up to the Schloss, or a longer and less steep route by road ( 1.5 km or so). Still, we now have a good story to tell about the time we climbed the castle hill with all our luggage ...
