Staff are lovely and we could leave our bags there at check out. Kettle with coffee, tea, sugar, sweetener and milk in the room along with an (empty) mini fridge. Shower/sink/bath always had hot water. Room was clean and had a wardrobe. Elevator is large and always worked, even though there are only two floors. Mons is small, so a 25 minute walk to the train station which is on the other side of town. We would stay here again as we like to travel on a budget and the price was very competitive for the area.

Room was a little tired and small but the hotel is 3 star so this isn't really a negative. The centre of Mons is also small, so the hotel is close to all attractions ... but it's on a busy road. We had a room at the back which was relatively quiet when it came to street noise even with the window open, but you could still hear every door bang in the hotel. A thick mattress cover to get rid of the gap between two single bed mattresses on a bed made up as a double might be an idea.

The proximity to restaurants and the grocery store. The back area was secluded and relaxing. The hotel rooms were spacious, clean and tidy. They were very accommodating to our dogs, offering water and food bowls and dog treats. They also offered to wash our laundry which was a huge life safer as we were new to the country and weren’t familiar with laundromat locations.

The hotel is a short walk from the town centre and very convenient for many eating places. The room was very clean and well presented. There was a good selection of food for breakfast and the cooked to order eggs and bacon were a definite plus.

Potential guests should be aware that the hotel is situated on a roundabout close to the town centre so there is a background traffic hum. It is also very close to the main hospital and you may hear sirens from time to time. Clearly it is impossible to do anything to control either of these issues.

The bedrooms were a good size in the annexe at the back of the hotel and there was no road traffic noise. Which I thought might be nuisance as the front of three hotel faces into the Mons ring road.

The car secure parking which we paid extra for had recently had a large layer of gravel put down. As we were a party of motorcyclists this proved impassible for five of our party of nine. So they parked out on the street at the back of the hotel, which was OK but clearly not the secure parking we had paid for.

speedy and friendly check in . clean and confortable room. the breakfast was good even if the second day was a bit neglected ( the was not scramble eggs and bacon ) . never mind ! the hotel was super central and lovely the fact that the service is super addressee to make you feel comfortable. if ill go back there ill certainly visit again

Second time we’ve stay here. Lovey hotel, a short walk from the centre, with easy parking at the rear. Our room was perfect, as the staff kindly put us in a room by the garden, as we were travelling with our dog. They even left her some dog treats and water bowl. Mons is a lovely city and is an easy walk away from Hotel St James.

Check in was a bit confusing, as the very friendly guy working that evening didn’t seem to know that we’d paid in advance. But, it was all easily remedied.

Stopped just as part of an overnight travel pit stop and was very pleasantly surprised. Welcome was friendly and efficient, room was clean and large enough with modern look. Tea & coffee making facilities were available in the room and the continental breakfast was exactly what was needed to continue my journey. Parked outside of the hotel and had no issue finding space, although you can park inside for an extra 10 euros if you want. All in all a nice experience and would use again.

Very good hotel, very close to the central square of the town, which you will definitely want to visit. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was a splendid buffet with cold meats and cheese, and if you asked the very helpful lady who was on duty, she'd make you bacon and eggs. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Incidentally, there is paying off-road private parking if your car is visibly loaded with holiday stuff, but if not, there is plently of space in the public parking outside the hotel. The area is quiet and low-risk. Mons itself is well worth the visit, especially if like us, you know a bit about August 1914.

Nothing comes to mind, except that we wanted a quick beer at the bar before retiring, and while the chap at reception was happy to sell us a few bottles, he was rather worried - needlessly, actually - that we'd be noisy and wake up the other guests. In other words, if you're planning a stag party, this is not for you. It's a quiet, civilised place which is exactly what we all wanted.

I liked the style and size of the room, the bed was comfortable, everything was clean. The curtains were massive for the windows, which i thought were cool! The private, gated parking was a real bonus as we traveled via motorbike, although my mate failed on the gravel on his large touring bike and had to park on the front while I scampered up the hill.

The room was on the ground floor next to the pavement in a busy town/city. No air conditioning, but did have very quiet fan which is probably fine most of the time I imagine, but it was hot when we stayed. Checking in was laborious after a fair old journey but there is an option to check in online.

Nice hotel great for a stopover we're travelling on motorbikes secure parking round back of hotel the carpark though is gravel and slopes ,so you have too take care on a motorbike. About 5 to 8 min walk to the town square with bars and restaurants.

Nobody seem to man reception when we arrived around 4pm Nobody their but a phone number to ring got no answer so I had a walk round knocked on a couple of doors, then a man came out sito us after a few minutes, also the next morning Nobody about luckily I fond the fob to open the rear electric gate behind reception desk so sorted ourselves out.
