The 'Posada del Cerro' is the "Hill Inn" in every sense. Surrounded by nature, with a view of the lake, complete with nearby drum music on some evenings. There are about 75 steps up to the Restaurant. The facilities are rustic, and there are suggestions about keeping your luggage closed, since open air conditions may lead to critters. The shower had ample supply, and there's one bottle of drinking water per night in your room. 'Posada del Cerro' coordinated my arriving airport shuttle.
There could be drinking water available in a dispenser in the Restaurant. The teenager reading in the hammock on my porch confused me at first. Then I realized that I was on a shared porch, even though I had my own thatched roof inside a family sized room, with a loft. My daughter stayed at 'The Gringo Perdito' and our activity van had an easy place pick up and drop off for me. There is a bus stop in between.

The best hotel where we have been in Guatemala. The common areas and the rooms are extremely clean and super nicely set up, with all what you need, from fan to blanket. Dimensions of accommodation is also much better than average. Position is a bit outside the village but I loved it as it’s quiet and overlooking the lake. The staff went above and beyond. Always friendly, discreet but ready to help. we ordered dinner and got amazing food freshly cooked. A fab place where I’d love to stay again if I come back.
This is not something I did not like but simply something to know. There’s quite some stairs to get to the posada so be ready to carry up your luggage.

We loved the room we were in- our first time staying in a room where we saw the sunrise directly! Was about a 20 minute walk to town with restaurants and bars along the route. We liked being a bit further, was very quiet! Bed was super comfortable, king size. WiFi didn’t reach to room but that wasn’t an issue, it’s in the main reception area with lots of seats. There’s breakfast and other meals you order ahead of time. No bugs when we stayed and sleeping temperature without ac was totally fine! Hot water

The room was fantastic, very nice, open, with a view on the lake! It was exactly as it looked on the pictures. A paradise! Everything was also super clean. The houses are located in a nice garden, where we even saw howler monkeys! Sanctus and Alida are super nice and took so good care of us! They also prepare nice meals, with a lot of care. We really felt welcome in Posada del Cerro. Sanctus also arranged a trip to Yaxchá, and a shuttle service to Rio Dulce at the end of our stay. We really loved staying in Posada del Cerro!

Posada del Cerro is an oasis. The grounds are beautiful, the buildings are unique and practically sculptural pieces of art, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and there is an onsite restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner just for guests. El Remate is a lovely town wrapped around the lake, and Posada del Cerro is at the quiet end but still within walking distance of the main center.
Nothing could have been better.

The place is away from the village in a lush greenery and we loved it! Service was super friendly and fast. They even helped us with the transfer to Tikal and back. Our double room was simple but big, with a big terrace with chairs and a hammock to relax and enjoy the greenery / to read etc. Bed was comfortable and had a decent mosquito net. They have a decent menu so we seldom ate breakfast there or had some drinks. The hotel is a walking distance from El Remate so we also walked to visit some restaurants or tienda for some snacks when we wanted to. My favourite thing for sure was the fact it's a little away and in the greenery, little hidden gem. Because it's close to the bioreserve, it was wonderful to hear the sounds of nature and especially have our first experience with howler monkeys howling 🙂 I would recommend it for sure.
Nothing to not like. I would only give one recommendation (it's a women thing though 😉) - the room could also have a small mirror. There was one in the bathroom but I wouldn't mind having one in the room as well 🥰

Fantastic oasis to stay at. My room was fabulous, the staff were super helpful and friendly. Nice t chill. Nice to watch the birds come to feed. Would definitely stay here again!
I don't eat meat and while there were some options I didn't find them so tasty (especially vegetable soup, was just veggies in water). So a few more tasty options would be good.

Located by the lake and in the greenery of trees and flowers, this accomodation is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the nature. Nearby docks allows you to soak the sunrise and sunset (even some rooms). It's 15 minutes walking from the centre of the village, 10 minutes from some good restaurants. Also the food is good in this accomodation. They can help you and arrange some transports or trip. Don't be fooled by Google maps, continue walking on main road until the sign for the hotel.

Clean, comfortable, very peaceful, staff were lovely, very safe, food and service were brilliant. The gentleman cooked us beautiful fresh soups and salads when we arrived. We also stayed at Alice's guesthouse for a few nights, which was fully booked but this place was empty, we don't know why!! Both are beautiful places but this is cheaper and the rooms are bigger and cooler, book here!! They deserve the business, Alices is v good too tho

The cabanas are in the jungle! Be prepared to see spidermonkeys during the day, butterflies, lizards and lots of more animals. The cabana is simple but spacious. You might share the cabana with some spiders! The location is great! Close to Tikal and easy to get there. The host will go out of his way to arrange everything for you
