Martine welcomed us and directed us to park the car on the drive, under a tree, as it was so hot. We visited on one of the hottest days in a long time, when even the locals were feeling it. She immediately explained that there was work happening that she hadn’t been told about, and was very apologetic at that, and also the heat. She found 2 reclining chairs and placed them in the shade in the garden for us. The cottage was great…just very hot…not Martines fault, of course, but didn’t make sleeping very easy! We made full use of the fans & opened the window to try and help. In the morning, Martine had set breakfast out in their outdoor kitchen, and couldn’t apologise enough. She offered us a full refund for our second night, if we wanted to leave because of the heat. We didn’t because we had plans, but it was good of her to offer, and we all tried to see the funny side of the situation…38 degrees of heat is even too much for the locals! Breakfast was lovely, with home made jams, and apple juice, and the usual continental things.
Could have done with some more utensils for food preparation & some bowls to eat out of. I wonder how many people actually self cater..the kitchen space is tiny, but the fridge & freezer worked well, and it was so hot we were eating salad any way.

You stay in a separate converted barn building with your own little living/dinning room with wood burning stove. Bedroom upstairs with an excellent bathroom. You feel private but have your breakfast in the very charming farmhouse just a few metres away. Perfect arrangement. Excellent breakfast, friendly owner. Good comms with owner too.
Not much not to like. Really hard to fault. Only thing was a slightly narrow driveway

We had a fabulous stay at La Maison du Bucheron. Our host Madeleine, was really friendly and helpful, even booking us a table at the local restaurant for the evening of our arrival. The accommodation was cosy and quaint having a lovely log burner fireplace. It was completely equipped for everything we needed. There was a bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a huge tv. The following morning we had a superb breakfast in the main house served up by Madeleine consisting of enormous fresh croissants and fresh crusty baguette with homemade jams, along with their own fresh apple juice. Parking at the property was a bonus too!
There is only one thing we can think of for improvement, is signage to the property. We didn't really notice the sign for the house when we arrived, so a larger sign or another placed in a more visible place would be great.

The owners were so lovely and welcoming. Couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast was exceptional. Fresh bread and croissants, home made jams and they made my children hot chocolate :) We also went to dinner nearby booked by the hosts for us at La Chope d’odin a Viking themed restaurant. We loved it and also great hosts :)

The host was fantastic and greeted us with delicious fresh homemade apple juice. The place is idyllic in the heart of the French countryside. The breakfast was completely gorgeous. The people and the surroundings were the absolute antithesis to the city and a fast paced modern life. We were only sad that we stayed there just one night. It went so quickly that is was as if we dreamt it.

Neat, clean cottage type accommodation with a very friendly host. Excellent Breakfast with homemade juice and marmalades.
This is really only a problem if you're tall: the bed is a bit short. It is a small bedroom, so anything larger would probably not fit in.

A lovely, quaint and well presented little house; it had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Our host was so very friendly and helpful. Just what we were looking for.
Unfortunately, we found the bed uncomfortable (too small and firm).

Lovely setting. The Little apartment looks something out of a fairy tale - an old tiny cottage, but with all modern amenities. And lovely friendly hosts.
Not a problem for me, but access to the bed & bathroom is up steep stairs.

Everything. If I could give more than 10, I would give more. The atmosphere, the hospitality, the breakfast, the little details that make this place so charming. Thank you for everything.

Lovely, comfortable little house for two people in a very quiet location. The wood burning stove was already lit for my arrival. There's a small kitchen area, but sufficiently well equipped to make meals. Generous selection at breakfast, with very friendly hosts who spent time to chat and give details on places to see in the area.
Nothing really, everything was fine for my stay.
