Room enormous but a little dated

The hotel was in a good location for us to explore in the car and on foot. The village is about 15 minute walk and has several good places for lunch and dinner. The coastline is maybe 30 minutes walk. Dining experience was very positive. We had one evening meal which was delicious. Breakfast here was also very good in our opinion. Staff very professional and friendly. Comfortable bed in a large room with freestanding bath and shower. Reception staff were helpful and our room was clean and attended to daily.

The room was lovely and big but rather dated and in need of some refurbishment. It was very warm - especially the bathroom. A fan was provided which helped a little.

As a couple with 4 dogs, we struggle to find a getaway that can accommodate. Not only was the hotel accommodating, it has everything you could possibly need or desire for your pets. The rooms are immaculate, staff welcoming and the fully enclosed dog paddock was a brilliant touch. The dogs even received royal treatment at breakfast, receiving a sausage each while we dined. All the staff were friendly to dogs and humans alike and fellow residents were equally as friendly and respectful. We used the hotels restaurant for breakfast and main meals, and the food is excellent, as is the service. It's nice to eat and feel relaxed, with the dogs getting to relax with us undisturbed and un-rushed. All in all, a wonderful stay in relaxed, immaculate surroundings and we cannot wait to visit again! 16 paws up and 5 stars from us! Thank you.

Absolutely nothing! You HAVE to stay here!!

When we drove up to the hotel, it looked lovely and had a charging point for electric cars , which was excellent as I hadn't seen it advertised in the booking. The sign stated that you had to speak to the hotel reception for rates, so I went inside and booked in, which was very easy and asked also about charging tariffs. . She's said that it was free for guests, which was such a bonus, and saved me for searching for a local charing station. We stayed in room 58, which is the new section of the hotel, and the room was large with an outside terrace, which was ideal for us both. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, which was good. I recommend the brisket burger. The bill came through via email after breakfast, so it was easy to pay and just had to hand over the keys before we left. We enjoyed our time at the hotel and would recommend staying.

It's a small thing but not having a proper tv remote, so having to flick through channels instead of seeing the tv menu. Plus, the restaurant manager can be a bit abrupt and talks to you in a firm loud voice. Probably due to having to look after with older clients. Also, the room was a bit overpriced and should have included breakfast. The side lights beside the bed dim by themselves as if there was a power drain.

We stayed here overnight on our way from the north of England to the Isle of Wight. Many ‘dog friendly’ places we visit really only tolerate dogs. This is very different. Our dog was made to feel very welcome, but not at the expense of non-dog owners, as there are separate restaurant and bar areas for each group. Dogs are given a useful goody bag, and a much appreciated breakfast sausage. There’s a fenced paddock available for exercising dogs too. Staff were all lovely, our room was very clean and comfy, and our evening meal was good. It was warm in our room but a fan was running when we arrived which really helped keep it comfortable.

This hotel is excellent. We have stayed here a few times in the past couple of months. As both a couple, family and a group of friends. Nothing is too much hassle, and they are very accommodating. The latest visit was this weekend due to a friend's funeral, our rooms were available upon request at before 10 am to allow us to change etc. They had arranged our group to sit together at breakfast without a request. Two of our friends had left their mobile phones outside upon returning at nighttime, and in the morning, they had been taken in and reception had them for safe keeping! The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean. Will definitely be returning for future visits.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly, they are very dog friendly. Excellent facilities such as the dog paddock and bins. Lovely garden areas to sit outside to relax or eat, the garden was well maintained and pretty. The owners and staff have a lot of pride in the hotel. Nice relaxing areas in the lounge to sit and relax, areas for you to dine with your dog but areas for people who do not have dogs. Lovely welcome pack for dogs explaining facilities and behaviour expectations so that all guests can enjoy their stay. We had a lovely room which was quiet and peaceful. Our second stay here and we will be back. Lovely walks and easy to explore local area.

Booked as a birthday treat for my husband , the hotel stood out as its dog friendly so we could bring our cavapoochon with us ! Deiric , that’s the dog ! Received his little welcome doggy bag which contained the doggy rules and some treats The room was tastefully decorated , minimalist, massive bed , nice linen . Bathroom spotless and modern . We were upgraded on the room which was a lovely touch , so thank you ! There’s a massive dog run outside which to be honest is fit for a couple of horses . The hotel is a short drive from Milford on the Sea , also you can walk it ! All the staff were really friendly , toe food in the restaurant was delicious so in all a pawfect 🐾 stay

Breakfast wasn’t included unless booked direct. We paid each day for Continental. Could have full English, cooked to order . Good selection but we have been spoilt by more choice at other hotels. Fruit was Melon,orange slices or grapefruit. There were Croissant , pain au chocolate , cereals, toast and yoghurt with granola. Central location for touring the New Forest. 5 mins from Milford on Sea Bedroom well equipped, fridge was a bonus , iron , ironing board ,lots of towels, great shower.Plenty of tea and coffee

The decor was in good condition and clean but a little old fashioned and we didn’t feel inspired to sit in the lounge.All the staff were great, bedroom was great , restaurant good . It had everything you needed but No real heart or atmosphere to the hotel .

South Lawn is a lovely Country hotel, in a perfect location. The staff are all so very friendly & happy to go that little bit further to make your stay the best it can be. It’s very clean & welcoming from the instant you walk in with a lovely lounge area for guests. It’s super dog friendly, but also very good if you’re in a wheelchair, as it’s mostly open plan & the room we had was a good size with moveable furniture, which is ideal. No wet room, but a big enough bathroom for a walker. There is a great enclosed paddock out the back, which is very large & it was great to be able to take our dog out there & sit down with a cup of tea while he runs around & plays with other dogs. The restaurant had a simple menu, but all the food was delicious. The bar area is comfortable with a nice vibe. Perfect location with it being quite central to most places you’d want to visit in the New Forest.

Nothing to dislike, but if I was going to be picky, I’d say the skirting boards need dusting a little more often. Everything else incredibly clean.
