Mike in reception was incredibly helpful. He was friendly and always willing to answer questions. He even moved me to a balcony room so as to reduce the amount of noise coming from the Christmas parties… very thoughtful but totally appropriated. The location was also ideal.

That I had to leave!

Breakfast on the first day - Saturday was outstanding. Plenty of choice, buffet style breakfast so you could have as much as you wanted. Although 2 of us, bedroom had a seperate single bed in there as well, which gave us extra room. Bath was wonderful and water was piping hot! Even though hotel is classed as a 3 star, I think is closer to a 4 star. Lift to both floors, bar and restaurant all good. Due to limited time didn't get the chance to try pool / jacuzzi.

Parking - we were there at the same time as a wedding party, so once we went out on the Saturday for the day we were unable to park on the car park & had to park down the road. There is limited parking on nearby streets, but at least it is free so not a massive issue. If you had mobility issues it may cause a problem. Although as mentioned the breakfast was superb on the Saturday, on the Sunday we noticed sausages were undercooked and the overall standard was a little bit lower than the day before - but I guess we were spoiled with the Saturday Breakfast. Sea view from Restaurant was V nice touch.

It was all lovely.. Staff were really helpful and friendly.. The bar and games room was amazing.. Definitely recommend.. The jaccuzi was absolutely amazing.. Literally a 5 min walk to the beach.

The pool wasn't open as they has a leak.. Didn't get much sleep either as the walls are really thin and the neighbours kept us awake arguing all night

The hotel exceeded our expectations, we booked a night away for our anniversary and they upgraded us to a room with a balcony! The Reception staff were incredibly helpful and the walk along the promenade into the town centre was stunning.

We booked to use the Pool/Jacuzzi in the evening, and we were well aware that is it unsupervised. The spa area is passcode-locked, but it didn't seem like this was enforced properly, as a large group of young boys came down and 'took over' the pool, doing lots of dive-bombs and splashing us and the young family that were there too. I expect none of these lads were actually booked in to use the spa, so it was very hard to relax in this environment.

The staff are amazing! Everyone was so very friendly and attentive. The food was good, the breakfast menu had a good selection of items, and the staff was always ready to help. The bar was a nice, relaxing place to spend time with your family and pets, they also had a selection of games (including board games). The pool was quiet, but I suggest having a booking system as we waited a little while by the reception before we could go down to the pool area, but very relaxing and easy to enjoy with children. Extra bonus point for being pet friendly :)

The place could do with a little update...

Wonderfully positioned being a short walk to the sea and alum chine, the Riviera is a comfortable hotel. There is an indoor pool and jacuzzi both of which we had to ourselves most mornings. The hotel menu is reasonable and well presented. The staff are absolutely delightful and nothing is too much trouble.

The hotel is dog friendly and, although we like dogs, some were misbehaved. Other than that we had a great stay.

we have stayed before. we like the fact it's dog friendly. usually has entertainment and lovely meals, so no need to eat out at night, as dog allowed in bar restaurant.

unfortunately as it was Christmas all three nights, they had parties, which took over the bar area, we ate there first night but it was so noisy and we felt like introduers. it would have been nice to have been given a heads up about this. we struggled to find any where dog friendly to eat at night that wasn't booked up. had to order room service second night. menu was very limited due to the parties too. third night managed to find a outside resturant. This was the only downside, as we had planned to just relax at the hotel in the evening.

The location was perfect, less than 10 minutes walk to Alum Chine, although the walk back is up hill. The hotel is dog friendly. The room was ideal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. There was live entertainment on two of the evenings that we were there.

The hotel is very dog friendly, however as breakfast is served in the dining room and guests with dogs need to eat in the bar grill area guests need to go back and forth via the reception area to get breakfast, although the staff are very helpful with this. As a suggestion I wondered if the staff could confirm with guests in the bar grill area before clearing away the breakfast as those guests are unable to see it is happening and do not have the opportunity to get anything prior to it being taken away. The noise from the air conditioning unit was disappointing when we arrived as we had specifically wanted to sit outside on the balcony and enjoy the views, however we did get used to it and there was no noise at night.

I liked that the staff were friendly and helpful, there was everything you needed for a nice stay away. Our room had a balcony and glorious sea view. Having a pool table and swimming pool, well priced and well made food meant we could stay at the hotel for an enjoyable evening and that helped with a relaxing little getaway. The general environment and atmosphere felt smart and orderly without being too pretentious or cold, also calm and cosy without feeling old fashioned or cluttered.

If anything I felt the lodges and garden apartments at the rear looked a little run down, that area has the potential to be a fabulous addition.

We were greeted by extremely friendly and polite staff smartly dressed and efficient in their check in and guidance. Our room was spacious and bright with a lovely balcony with sea view which was a bonus on a sunny day. The balcony is plenty big enough to sit and walk around. The bed was very comfortable with nice linen and so a good sleep was had! The room and bathroom were spotless. The bathroom was light and airy and although not a walk in shower the shower unit in the bath was perfectly adequate.

The taste of the coffee, although Nescafe was not very good.
