This is a super hotel, there is nothing not to like about it. We were in room 5 in the annex building just outside the hotel. I'd chosen a superior room which through Booking.com was a ridiculous £1 extra😁😁. It was a good sized room with a large bathroom and a small balcony. The air conditioning worked perfectly and being a very light sleeper the fact it made little noise was an absolute bonus as we're the blackout blinds and curtains. There was a stocked mini bar which was reasonably priced but we didn't use it. The room was cleaned each day immaculately.. very impressed. The hotel reception area is beautifully decorated with some stunning furniture in it. Similarly the garden area and pool are immaculate. It did get busy at times but never affected our usage of it. Breakfast is a continental style self service buffet with plenty of choice and hot drinks are made fresh and brought to the tables by the staff. The location is fantastic as it's a 5 minute walk down a side lane to the city walls. There are bars and restaurants two streets away with Gosto e Mea being a favourite. The small bar about 200m from the hotel ( right as you come out of the hotel door) is very much a working class bar and all the more fun for it. Opposite is a tiny pizzaria takeaway called La Rotella which were simply the best we've ever had in Italy and started at €6. We had lunch one day in the hotel, Spinach and ricotta ravioli with a sage butter which very good too. The staff are friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for you. I genuinely cannot find anything to raise as an issue. Perfect stay, perfect hotel, perfect location.

There is nothing we didn't like.. at all!!!

Lovely hotel with very friendly helpful staff. The decor was excellent and the rooms were really clean. The garden was lovely with beautiful flowers and really nice seating areas, with the added bonus of a pool. It was great that we could rent bikes directly from the hotel which we took advantage of. The cost was very reasonable. The walk into Lucca was very easy, flat and pleasant. It took us around 15 minutes to get to the old part of the town. Lucca is such a beautiful place that we would definitely come back and stay at this hotel!

Breakfast was good but could have had more variety each day and choice of more fruit. On the whole though food was of a good standard.

Great location, just outside the walls of Lucca. We were here for the Lucca Summer Festival, and were absolutely delighted when the hotel reception contained a sign that said "Hotel San Marco welcomes Pet Shop Boys fans"! Such a lovely touch and we felt right at home from that moment onwards. Lovely little pool which we chilled out round in the day. The hotel staff couldn't do enough to help us with taxis, water when we came home after a long night of dancing etc. Loved Hotel San Marco!

More sunbeds round the pool would be great. My friend and I managed to get a sunbed, but quite a few people just had to sit on a deck chair instead. Save for that, couldn't fault anything.

Breakfast was good. Friendly and helpful staff at front desk, breakfast service and housekeeping. Air conditioned room with very large sink in bathroom that was good to use for handwashing clothes. While the room was small it was comfortable for our 3 night stay. Nice to have a pool with lounge chairs to relax in after a day of touring.

Speaker by the pool kept cutting in and out, cleanliness of outdoor furniture (bird droppings, etc), rooms are small and bathroom didn’t have good space for all our toiletries. No drawers in bedside tables,etc. Didn’t use space in room efficiently for storage. Very few hangers in closet.

The location was perfect for us being a few hundred metres from the wall in a pleasant and safe neighbourhood. The hotel was clean and had everything we wanted for our trip. The staff were absolutely amazing, from those cleaning our room and serving us breakfast, to the reception staff who were both friendly and very knowledgable about not just Lucca, but all the surrounding places we wished to visit. Hats off to you all, what a team.

We didn’t dislike anything, however, it would be nice to have tea making facilities in the room.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the pool was fantastic after a day exploring. Perfect in the afternoon when everything shuts after lunch. It really helped us unwind, and as the weather was hot, it was wonderful having an outside space to sit out in. They had an eclectic, fun music selection which might not be to everyone’s taste but we enjoyed it. The bed was very comfortable and location of the hotel is great, because it is close enough to walk into the centre but so much quieter in a more residential area. Easy to get the bus from the train station.

The shower is a little cramped. I purposely put a dirty towel in the bidet and hung up all the others to dry, but it was just hung up again covered in dirt. It could just easily have been removed, no need to replace it. The rooms are a bit bland and corporate looking, but we were comfortable which is the main thing.

We had an enjoyable stay in Lucca. We arrived at the hotel to a superb and very friendly greeting by Francesco. The hotel is fairly dated but very clean and comfortable. It appears to be in a residential neighborhood but we found the bus system to be quite easy to navigate. I did not like the smell of the Argan toiletries. A no fragrance or light lemon fragrance would be nice. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive about providing espresso, cappuccino or other coffee. The walls of the hotel seem very thin and we could hear hallway and tv noises quite easily. The pool was not heated but we tried it anyway. Not great in October but I imagine very nice in the summer. We would probably stay within the wall of the city next time as it was a bit of a walk after long day climbing up the cathedral tower and walking around the wall. It was nice though and suited our budget.

The location was reasonably convenient. The pool was welcome. The garden was very pleasant. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Good restaurants within walking distance.. Good choice at breakfast.

The pool was small. The breakfast room was very noisy and the buffet space was cramped. The room was too small for a 2 week stay.We asked for an upgrade but were told all the rooms were the same size although there is an annrx which would have cost more. The TV had no English channels and no subtitles and was of no benefit to us.

Very welcoming and helpful. Felt totally at ease as a single traveller. Friendly welcome every morning at breakfast. Good range and quality of breakfast items. Location was a short walk into town through medieval city walls which I enjoyed and was ideal for me. Very pleased with my choice!

Nothing - the surrounding area could have been slightly more attractive but then you would have been in the town centre which would have been busier and less quiet . For me it was ideal but depends on preference.

Great location just outside the city walls, allowing you to get away from the biz. Pristine modern facilities which made a family stay for six adults and one baby ideal. Super helpful and friendly staff who made sure we had everything we needed, especially for the baby! Breakfast on the terrace was a joy each morning, and a great meal the one evening that we ate in the hotel.
