My partner and I visited Sonnenhof for our very first trip together, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The atmosphere was peaceful and romantic, the surroundings were beautiful, and the staff made us feel truly welcome. Everything about our stay felt special — from the cozy rooms to the delicious food. It was the perfect place to start creating memories as a couple, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

The only downsides were that the price was a bit on the higher side and the two separate beds kept sliding apart, which wasn’t ideal for a couple. Still, overall, we had a lovely time and would gladly come back!

Nice location, food and drinks, service and pleasant staff with some good aesthetics sense in the room deco. The personnel at the massage centre and the reception were friendly and nice and the waitress at our table was more than ready to provide some good recommendations A crib was provided for our 4 month old son.

Although we selected this room for the different views(Mountain, river etc.) it was mentioned to offer, any view from our room/ balcony was covered for the most part by the side of the mountain on top which the hotel was located, which was a bit disappointing.

The hotel is a great value for money. The rooms are quite spacious, spa area is pretty nice, food in the restaurant is nothing short of amazing. There is a big parking and a nice playground is very close by, so pretty good for families.

Breakfast is good, although could have more options. Wifi is not great. The hotel is set in a quiet village, with amazing nature and hiking trails, but there is not much to do there. You'll need a car to get around as the closest supermarket is 3km away. Renting a car at the airport is a good option as Offenburg and Strasbourg are quite close.

The rooms were large and well appointed. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was great. The breakfasts were fantastic. The fitness area exceeded my expectations.

The Main balcony door was stuck at first and took a whole day to get repaired. Even then is was not fully functional. The walls around the closets were a bit mucky. For the price of the room, I expected it to be cleaner.

The property is beautiful and at a good location. Surroundings were nice and serene. Our room was clean and comfortable. Water pressure in the bathroom was great. Staff were very helpful and welcoming at all times. They were kind and recommended good things. Breakfast was also good and delicious. We especially loved the beetroot cream cheese, gooseberry jam and local red wine.

Proper hotel, good breakfast, nice area, quiet. The entire staff is committed to service.

I was not so happy with the kitchen. I had to send my food back, the table next to me sent one of their foods back (something different and for a different reason). It’s not about the quality of the ingredients, it’s simply mediocre or not well cooked. No privacy in the restaurant, except you can sit outside. The beds are on wheels and not stable. I hate that. The fridge in the room was broken (I forgot to tell them, I’m certain it would have been repaired immediately ). However, I will go there again. Sounds bad but this where rather nuisances than terrible failures. It’s a great place.

Less choices of the lunch and dinner opportunities around the hotel. The dinner at the hotel is also available but it costs a bit considering the contents of the dishes. The restaurant at the hotel can be booked beforehand but it takes a time to be served. If you have a kid, I recommend you to order the fast serve menu otherwise kid is getting tired to wait the long dinner time.

Great place in a beautiful area. Comfortable, quiet rooms. Easy parking, with one exception excellent food and very nice breakfast.

The beds on wheels is a terrible decision. They move constantly when you move. Couldn’t find stoppers on the wheels and I shouldn’t have to look for it. Food is really excellent except for the entrecôte that I had. Bad peace of meat, not medium but well done and the (handmade) french fries where drowned in fat. On the same evening I waited 20 mins only for the beverage. The service on the more modern part of the restaurant didn’t meet the standards that they want to provide. Nevertheless I would go there anytime again. Mishaps are happening. Everything else was absolutely positive.

Excellent breakfast with a great variety of everything, very professional and friendly staff. The highlight every evening is dinner at the restaurant. While the Black Forest in general offers already a superb cusine, the Sonne Restaurant clearly stands out. Whether for a business trip (like me) or a vacation its always a pleasure and excitement to return.

Leaving the hotel

Breakfast was good with some vegan options as well. Everything was spotless clean and tidy (room, swimming pool, breakfast area). Staff was warm and responsive. Food in the hotel restaurant (we had dinner a few times) was excellent, although a bit pricy, yet still was worth it. Spa facilities were very good (pool, outside jacuzzi, sauna, sun room) and not crowded.

Wifi in the room was generally ok, yet some occasional disconnectios occured. At breakfast re-fills of some food items were not regularly done. If you went down to eat at around 09:00-09:30 they were usually out of certain food items.
