Very clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful four poster bed in our room and a lovely view of the woods from our window. Very quiet and the staff was friendly. Very good breakfast options for the price point of the hotel in a nice breakfast room with flowers.
I was a little worried that there wouldn’t be any human staff there when we arrived because of the advance contact with codes for the front door and an app I was supposed to download that didn’t work. I responded and found out it was an AI assistant and it didn’t understand my question. No worries there was a human being there and I didn’t need the app so it turned out fine. I would have preferred a more private WIFI network requiring a code for better security so didn’t use the WIFI.

We stayed at the Brandywine River Hotel for one night during our road trip from Richmond to Philadelphia, and had a lovely experience. The hotel is very charming and welcoming. The front desk staff was warm, professional, and made us feel right at home. Our room was small but cozy, clean, and well-organized. Breakfast offered a wide selection of classic American options, and the dining area was spacious and comfortable. There are three nice restaurants just a short walk from the hotel, which made dinner easy and enjoyable. The surroundings are peaceful and pastoral, with a beautiful nature reserve nearby—perfect for a relaxing stroll. Overall, a delightful stay in a picturesque setting.
The room was relatively small — including the double bed, which was also on the smaller side. Still, it was comfortable for a short stay.

The living room with the chimney was very cozy and our room looked nice. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was nice. The pastries were very good.
Our room 207 was very close to the elevator and you could hear the cleaning staff moving things and talking since 7:00am during the weekend. The parking area was full both nights when we arrived at about 8:00pm, and the first night the entrance lights were off even though it was already very dark outside. That was the case for over one hour. The guard on duty was there but he didn’t turn the lights on. That was hard to understand. Anybody could easily fall.

Our room had a queen bed with a sitting area that was nice. The room appeared freshly painted and was very clean as were the entire hotel facilities. The staff was very accessible, friendly and helpful There is a typical self-serve breakfast which was kept well stocked. The price was reasonable, and the location was good. They were decorated for Christmas in the lobby… very attractive and tasteful. Easy check in with door codes. The location was close to attractions we were visiting. Would highly recommend.
Pillows are not comfortable, as was mentioned in several reviews. The refrigerator motor was a bit noisy.

This is a lovely property. While being a seemingly older building it was well kept and decorated for comfort and welcome. The beds were great, very comfortable! Shower was good. Sofa in the room lacked comfort but we werent there long enough to want its use anyway. Breakfast was above average. There was a great selection of things from healthy to sweet. Front end staff were cordial and welcoming offering great dinner recommendations and friendly disposition. We loved the keyless entry. I would (and have already) recommended the hotel as a stay for a visit to Longwood Gardens. Location is perfect. GPS was a little confused but it was a simple fix.

Breakfast was plain, but nicely presented. The hotel is clean, with comfortable rooms in a colonial style, located near all the main sites in the Chadds Ford area. A plus is its location right next to two excellent restaurants. It is an older facility, but you can see care has been taken to maintain it. Our party had two rooms, and both were comfortable, with room for sofas ( we did socialize between rooms), and very clean and quiet. Recommended for a stay in the Chadds Ford area.

Everything
I would have liked to check in earlier. There were 2 trash cans, 1 in the room and 1 in the bathroom. They were the same trash cans. The trash can in the bathroom was too small. The one in the bathroom was an ok size for the bathroom,, but both had lids that you had to manually take off to use the trash can. We took both lids off our entire stay and put them on the side. The lids got in the way and were a possible tripping hazard. I would get a larger trash can for the room. and ditch the lid.

The location is perfect for a Longwoods garden trip. We have been staying here for years. The property has changed hands so it is a bit different. The cookies every day are a nice touch! The location is perfect and the staff is very nice. Check in and check out are seamless and easy! Overall we love staying here. You can tell they are making improvements and the breakfast is very nice!
The shower head had a bit of a leak. There was a constant sound of running water in our room (104) maybe from the cooling system. The bathroom did not have a fan to keep the air circulating so it gets very humid in the room.

I have to start off with Amy at the front desk. If I was rating her on a 10point scale she would receive a 12! Exceptionally nice, helpful and hard working. Here is only one instance of more than a few we witnessed from Amy. On Saturday morning there was a rush in the breakfast room, and they were running out of coffee and dishes were starting to pile up. I went to the front desk and mentioned it to Amy. Instead of her panicking and wasting time looking for other staff Amy hopped right on it herself and got everything up to speed in a matter of minutes. I have read reviews stating this hotel was outdated. Not true. The hotel was updated 2 years ago and everything, especially the fresh cut flowers and fireplace, is above quite nice. The breakfast was more than what we expected. They call it a continental breakfast, but I would say continental+. Waffle machine, bagels, cereal, muffins, fresh fruit, & yogurt. There were other odds and ends so nobody would go hungry. As for cleanliness, the room was spotless. All this making for a very pleasant stay.

The location of the hotel is conveniently close to the main attractions of the area, however, it is not located directly on the very busy road. When you have a room at the back of the building, it's quiet and private. The lobby and the breakfast room are welcoming and nicely decorated with fresh flowers and a personal touch. Our room was spacious and equipped with a large refrigerator, enough lamps and very comfy beds. Breakfast was included in our very good room rate. The fresh fruit at the breakfast buffet was excellent.
It would have been awesome to have a coffeemaker in the room. The vending machine in the lobby only accepts cash (up to 5 USD bills) and the receptionist wasn't able to change our 20 USD bill. So no bottled water for us that night. Tap water is chlorinated, but also served at breakfast. The mint leaves didn't help to camouflage the horrible taste. So better come prepared with lots of drinking water.
