We were looking for a hotel with "old world" Schwarzwald charm and found it at Waldeck. It was clean and comfortable with the basic modern amenities (private bath, mini-fridge, tv) but still had the charmingly dated feel we were looking for including a balcony with excellent views. This is not a Holiday Inn Express but an old-style German hotel with a family-run feel to it that is excellent value for the price. If that's the experience you want, this is the place. Comfortable walking trails through the countryside begin right at the front door with more adventurous fun right in the area (Hasenhorn lift & coaster, Todtnau falls and trails, etc). Very close to the village of Todtnau with acccess to grocery, shops, and charming views. A moderate drive to other attractions like Freiburg, Colmar, Titisee, etc. We had a pleasant dinner in the attached restaurant but did not opt for breakfast during our unfortunately shorter stay. Parking was plentiful in a private outdoor lot. We would definitely select Waldeck again for a future stay in the Black Forest!

Wifi was inconsistent at best on the second floor, but great signal around the entranceway and restaurant area. For those looking for more than basic, old world German accommodations this may not be the property for you, but it was not an issue for us.

I had a great time staying here! The owner is very kind and helpful, making sure everything went smoothly during my stay. The location is wonderful — you can see the forest right from the window, along with a beautiful view of the moon and stars at night. The hotel is conveniently located next to the highway and just a 5-minute walk from the bus stop. Highly recommended for a peaceful and scenic getaway!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The mountain views were absolutely breathtaking, and the fresh air was so pure it made us feel light-headed — in the best way! It’s incredibly beautiful here — peaceful, clean, and cozy. Breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were cheerful, friendly, and welcoming. We truly enjoyed every moment and already dream of coming back in winter for a ski holiday! Highly recommended! ⛰️❄️❤️

The staff was exceptionnally welcoming and super kind. They make sure that I'm well rested and I have everything I needed. The room is very comfortable and cozy, it was a great experience overall, will come back another time !

The location, which is within walking distance of the town is great and in a quiet spot. The restaurant for an evening meal was good too.
