Breakfast was excellent. Optionof cooked and continental. Tables in breakfast room are on first come basis and more seating is down a long corridor in the bar so not so easy for carrying bowls, juices to your table, but manageable. The features of the bar and hotel in general were fascinating and unique. The decor was to a high standard and modern parts were inkeeping with the historical aspects. Bathroom was a nice size and recently modernised. Plenty of tea,coffee, milk extras available to make drinks in the room.

Not suitable for elderly or anyone who is less able to manage uneven floors& stairs due to the nature of the old features. The shower base was v slippery with no mat or grips and no grab rail. However, once I'd reported the issue, by the same evening a rubber bath mat had been supplied. Can't fault the support

Breakfast glass pots of yoghurt were fantastic but not available our last day. The cooked options weren’t really my thing but others enjoyed them. Toast is a bit big and rustic though. Good tea and coffee and juices. Staff were very helpful and charming throughout the hotel.

Cereals open to others same with the loose yoghurt and compote which I’m not keen on. Dinner very odd and not pleasant chips. Serving rather tough lamb in a bowl made eating very difficult

My room was spacious, clean and tidy. It was furnished with everything you could need, a beautifully large comfortable bed, wardrobe, sofa, desk and chests of drawers. A large range of tea bags, coffee and kettle, plus bottled water were all provided in the room. Optional cleaning of the room and towel changes daily as required - just hang the door hanger out if required.

A central location from which to explore the local area. Our room overlooked the street and was comfortable. The ensuite was modern and very clean. There was plenty of choice of both cold and hot food at breakfast, with hot food being cooked to order. The staff were friendly, courteous and efficient.

We were unable to open the window in our room and even though we were provided with a fan, the room did get overly hot, especially at night.

The hotel was very easy to find and the location couldn’t have been any better for travels outside of the town. The staff were always friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good indeed both the buffet part and the english breakfast - definitely somewhere to recommend to anyone staying in that part of Dorset.

We were met with a warm & friendly welcome. Our room was immaculately presented with the most crisp white sheets & fluffiest towels. The hotel was beautifully furnished with a modern rustic finish. We stayed 2 nights, breakfast was plentiful & enjoyed exquisite food from the evening menu both evenings. All the staff without exception were delightful. We hope to return when next visiting Dorset.

Best boutique hotel I’ve ever stayed in, from check in ( chap walked my bags to my room ) to breakfast! I’ve not even checked out and can’t wait to leave feedback! Best hotel I’ve stayed in by far! Thank you! Staff at reception last night and In restaurant are great! The lady & guy In restaurant no what there doing! The food was great to! Everything! Comfy bed the boutique attention to detail amazing, bar fantastic - cozy! I will be back food lovely 🥰

Loved everything, I checked out of the priory because beds had the cheapest Matress the staff lied about ability to get taxi to Sculture by the lakes, the priory in wareham is bad if you’ve got any sense your stay here 100% at 4am in the priory the whole building moved because MOD Bovvington Camp backs onto the grounds at priory and when the tanks fire the whole hotel can hear it! The rooms rattle like there’s a ghost 👻. I checked into the bear hotel an absolute delight!

Great location and the room was clean and modern. Plenty of refreshments in the room too which was nice and when I asked for more they were promptly delivered, even after a long search for biscuits!

No option for black pudding on the cooked breakfast and no cheese/meat on the continental buffet. The TV in the room was too small, not that we watched it much.

From management to cleaners, all personnel were charming, helpful, and did their best to meet all requirements. The breakfast was excellent, the menu thoughtful and not overwhelming. Food beautifully prepared (very good poached eggs). The young serving staff were sweet and helpful (though perhaps could be a little more attentive in ensuring there was always adequate cutlery and napkins on the table). Altogether a most pleasant and comfortable stay and I would certainly visit The Bear again. And I'd love to try the restaurant for lunch or dinner; from the little I saw of the food it looked delicious.

We stayed at the Bear Hotel for two days while attending my nephew's wedding. The hotel was charming, the staff were all very nice and super helpful. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. My only complaint was that they did not have luggage racks upon request. In the room we stayed in there was no surface in the room that was large enough for even a small suitcase. I think we may have had one of the smaller rooms in the Inn, so with two suitcases on the floor there was barely room to walk around the bed and it felt like a bit of an obstacle course.
