This was a last minute booking for a brief New Year get a way with 3 generations of the family. Having read the reviews on line I was apprehensive. Knoll House exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a two bedroom family suite in the grounds of the hotel with family in the chalet next door. Bathrooms clearly upgraded and spacious, facilities in room absolutely fine, double glazed windows and doors appreciated due to stormy windy weather. Central heating lovely. Breakfast buffet plentiful and replenished regularly - choice for everyone. Grand children loved the wooden pirate ship in the children's play area although bad weather stopped them using it as much as they would have liked. Plunge pool used every day, yes, its small, but perfectly formed. Towels provided and sauna working well. New Years Eve event seemed to be organised very well although we did not buy the package for this, hotel was busy and functioned well. Fires in the grates in the lounges. A member of the family party became poorly and we needed to change room configuration in order to care for grand children. The lady on the Reception desk went above and beyond in helping to sort the issue for us and we were extremely grateful and blown away by her helpfulness. We have already booked a return visit because of this positive helpful attitude.

Nothing - it is a quirky hotel and harks back to a different age - but if your looking for squeaky clean, shiny and ultra modern this isn't the place for you. Expect to pay for Wi fi.

Overall, a lovely experience and good value. Very unique style of hotel with lots of lovely features. There were so many places in the hotel to relax and chill. The location was also sublime. A 10 minute walk to the beach. A 20 minute walk to The Pig on the Beach for dinner. And a lovely 2 hour walk passing Old Harry Rocks, down to Swanage. And for another dinner option, taxi to the ferry, then ferry and walk into Sandbanks for dinner. One top tip, book your cabs well in advance. Would recommend Bill's Taxis.

Fantastic 1930s hotel. Being lovingly cared for. We would hate it to change. Fantastic dining room. Great breakfast. Comfortable lounges and library. Lovely gardens. We used the indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Much appreciated. Fantastic views of the sea and Purbeck hills. Easy to reach Poole, Wareham and Swanage. We will definitely come here again. Good WiFi in the main hotel.

Our garden apartment had a few issues. The size of the room was great, nice furniture and comfy beds. But no WiFi and a very small TV. No fridge. Only one plug socket in the whole room. Very nice bathroom. Good shower pressure. We understand that the new owners are planning many improvements, but we hope they don't lose the 1930s splendor, there are plenty of modern, soulless hotels to choose from. We were disappointed that the pools close at 5pm. This seems too early

the whole experience was perfect, the grounds were delightful, the little courtyard (105) was perfect , with the exceptional weather we enjoyed. the outside pool was just perfect. The food in the evening and breakfast was perfect.

nothing really, perhaps if we were to find something negative to say ,it would be small things either broken or not working in the bedroom, no stopper in sink, fan not working in bathroom, hot water control fir bath/ shower disconnected from control, but I did understand there are bigger plans fur updating the whole site , so minor repairs are kept to the minimum. nothing was a problem and we enjoyed everything about the place.

Location perfect just a short lovely walk to a beautiful beach. Homely retro place. Staff very friendly in the restaurant and accommodating to our toddler. Nice games room. Deers outside. Food good in restaurant. Comfy beds.

This place is Edwardian and the owners want to demolish it and build something new. It's charming in its old feel (I stayed here as a child many years ago) but it's creaking a bit. Rooms look a bit shabby and indoor pool looks very dated (but was clean). Room a little dusty. Breakfast the same every day.

This is a lovely quaint property showing its history and its age, there has been a lot of work to try and keep this property up to date. I love the way the rooms can be changed for couples or for families. The facilities were great and All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was fairly close to the beaches and local pubs. The bar and outside terrace area was fantastic for chilling. We didn’t try any of the facilities for children.

Whilst the breakfast was great. We didn’t have an evening meal as it was a little too fussy for our liking.

I thought this little gem of a hotel was just so quirky and English seaside of a by go era. It was wonderful to stay in a place that was so unique and my room was perfect. I had a large room, with a really comfortable bed, and the biggest bathroom I've had in any hotel. If you are looking for flash and modern and all mod cons, then this is not for you. If you are looking for comfort, a boutique feel, and literally the best location in the district, then you have hit the jackpot. It is in an amazing setting, directly across from Studland beaches and near local pubs and bars. Breakfast had all you could possible want, and was excellent value for money. Good parking, good beaches, nice walks. I had the most refreshing swim in the clear and beautiful sea, and then a nice latte to warm up. Fantastic stretch of coastline.

For me personally nothing could have been better, but I like quirky and boutique hotels, if you want bland and modern, then this would not be for you.

It was so lovely, I extended my stay for another 2 nights. The room was light and airy, clean and comfortable. I could hear the birds singing from my room and there was a wooden balcony you could sit outside and just listen to them. Also saw the deer in the grounds, including a white one, there are steps down to a wooded area but I didn't explore it. So much wildlife right on your doorstep is just great. Breakfast was really good with so much choice and staff friendly and attentive. The outdoor pool was really nice and the spa facilities a treat. It does close at 5pm though so it would be great if it could stay open a bit later. Plenty of other things to.do on site too if you fancy tennis or golf. There's also a quaint games room, large comfy sofas too. The location and views were just superb. In close proximity to the beach with plenty of walking opportunities around, so you don't need to use the car if you just want a relaxing break.

Enjoyed its history and quite liked its simplistic warm environment, also location was perfect for what we wanted.

Lacking Fridge in room and disappointed steam room and Pool area could do with upgrade No gym facility although Tennis and Pitch and putt facility ideal in good weather

Wonderful unique family feel Hotel. Wonderful layout on the ground floor, reading room, bar, library, games room, film room, children’s playroom and generous entrance area. Great facilities and great for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Loved the outdoor pool. Putting green and tennis courts fun to use. Staff lovely, friendly and helpful. Generous breakfast and delicious Dinner menu. Homemade cakes too. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Plenty of parking. Very interesting history to the property.

Only criticism is that the exterior could do with a fresh coat of paint.
