I had a single room and it was better than I had expected. The garden was beautiful, and the bar with fabulous conservatory, gave me somewhere to relax in comfort, without feeling uncomfortable alone. The pool is tiny, jacuzzi lovely and warm. Sauna is big, and you can go straight for a sea dip by taking steps down to sea from the garden . Gym is very basic. But it was a bonus to have these facilities. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but at the bottom of the steps is a beach cafe as well as other options in town (10-15 min walk)

A charming traditional hotel which epitomises the glory days of tourism in Swanage. It was like revisiting the holiday hotels we used to go to 40+ years ago. It blends everything modern with everything traditional in a way that is so endearing - for example the shower is the best I have seen in any hotel - whether that’s 5-star or budget.

The hotel dates from a time where everyone wasn’t driving in large cars - it doesn’t have the massive car park associated with modern corporate hotels but that just adds to the charm too and there is parking available a short walk away

My room was great with stunning views. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was hot and powerful. The hotel itself is magnificent. The decor has a real homely feel, I loved having a glass of wine with a book by the fire. In addition, the food was delicious. The service was also great, every staff member had a smile on their face and were happy to help.

There's not much to complain about as I had a great time, but I think the spa needs a little revamp. In particular, in the therapy room, I could hear the gym goers whilst getting treatment, and it wasn't very relaxing. Perhaps they should consider double glazed doors. I also didn't like that they didn't have bottled water in the rooms, which meant that I had to bring a jug upstairs every night. I also thought that they could have left a couple packs of buscuits, instead of the one.

The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The views from the breakfast and dining areas were beautiful. There was an easy way straight down to the promenade for lovely walks close to the sea.

We found the car parking lacking . When it eased off in the week, the parking spaces were inadequate for many cars and we found enormous cars abutting our car. Half the dishes( all beautifully cooked) and all the specials contained celery, a very common allergen ( second after nuts) thus reducing my choice of dishes considerably. The celery was in the stock , presumably a preparation bought in. There are stock sources available which state on the wrapping no allergens.

Modern room, excellent power shower, comfy single bed, great location with stunning views of Swanage Bay from the breakfast room, bar and restaurant. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast and dinner. Old-school charm and vibe of the hotel.

Parking is always a challenge. There is space for about 9 cars so getting a spot is a challenge as the hotel also has a gym and spa which non guests can use, adding pressure to finding a spot. Not an issue for me as I like walking and there is street parking close by as well as a long stay car park 8 minutes walk away, but some elderly guests were anxious about it.

The view from the hotel is exceptional. The fact you can walk down to the beach is a great bonus. The twin room was a good size, very clean and comfy. Very understated decoration, reasonable selection of tea/coffee in the room. Staff were all very lovely and helpful. Evening meal in the restaurant was good. Bar drinks not too expensive for a hotel.

Parking is a nightmare. Hotel has lost some of its character over the years. 1st came many years ago as a kid & have visited a few times since. Not all the changes are necessarily for the better. Breakfast was so so, somehow not satisfying. Main issue - and not the hotel's fault - is lack of staff.

Amazing location, perched high above the beach with a panoramic views over stunning Swanage Bay. The staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. My mother had a wonderful massage at the spa. A 10-15 minute stroll into town . I will definitely return to this hotel as it is good value. Loads to see and do nearby Durlestone, Corfe Castle ( wear good walking shoes) and even an evening at the tiny Rex Cinema in Wareham

There is very little parking, so be prepared to unpack your bags, hastily by the side of the hotel and drive elsewhere to find a parking spot. This wasn’t a problem for us, as we stayed in November, so there was plenty of parking on the street nearby, but I can imagine it would be an issue in the summer. A few more sofas rather than formal seating in the bar would be cosier. Lots (60-70) of steep steps down to the beach would be a challenge for the less able.

Great experience. The hotel was very nice with great views from the lounge/bar area. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good. The view from the room was OK. I had a good time. The drinks from the bar were good as well. Overall, a very pleasant experience and I would go there again. I liked the addition of a gym and spa.

Slightly better view from the room, but due yo the number of rooms that would be quite difficult as it is a large Victorian hotel.

Room was with balcony and sea view, that did not disappoint. Did not have breakfast. Informed by receptionist if we had booked directly they would have included breakfast for the same price as booking.com. did not feel this was appropriate when checking in although very pleasant . All staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

When viewing gym/sauna facilities I asked if I could look around, which I was told yes, it would have been a nicer experience if I had been shown around as did not actually get to see/find the sauna. Felt uncomfortable about asking again. Not busy at the time I looked.

We have been coming to Swanage for years and have stayed here in the past. The hotel has been refurbished tastefully. The location is very convenient with steps to the beach. It was only an overnight stay but it suited our needs well.

The food was excellent but there were issues with our food choices as there is a small menu and the one dessert we wanted wasn't available.
