A well maintained hotel. Nice restaurant serving good quality evening meals. A lovely lounge area. Very friendly welcoming staff. Very busy. On the negative side the shower in our room had no pressure and took an absolute age to heat up. We were promised by phone a larger bed than 4'6" but that's what we got. 1st mornings breakfast was buffet style, which was fine. 2nd morning was farcical. 10 minus to order. 25 minutes for a 2 item breakfast which was luke warm and a very poor standard. No toast as ordered. Didn't finish it. People arrived after us, and had finished whilst we were still waiting. A shame. This is a nice hotel, but on this occasion a little disappointing.

The location and sea view is excellent, quiet, and the rooms very comfy. We had an upgraded room with balcony which had sea view. Lovely garden and lift to all floors. The lounge area with bar was relaxing. Breakfast was more than adequate from buffet to pre-select menu items. We skipped lunch but the dinner menu was limited but adequate. To\he hotel is situated on a low level cliff with a safe stairway to the beach. Being elderly we chose a short drive to the beach. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we enjoyed our stay enormously.

nothing really all good however the car park whilst being large was quite full but we always seem to find a place

Hotel in general and the room was clean and well equipped. Additional bed was in its own separate room, which was a great bonus for our teenage daughter travelling with us, but was a nice surprise as not stated on the booking. All the staff were very friendly, efficient and the breakfasts were well organised, well replenished and nicely cooked ... very tasty.

Minor thing, but although the hotel has a couple of EV charging cables, there is nothing to designate the spaces in front of them for EVs, so most of the time they are occupied with ICE (internal combustion engine) cars. It would be good if the spaces are marked out with green or blue paint on the ground to ensure people know they are charging spaces, as not easy to know otherwise.

The location was excellent, on the cliff top with sea views and direct access to the beach. Parking was free on site. Our room did not have a sea view, but it was modern and comfortable with what looked like a newly installed bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel had a nice dining room and lounge/bar area with doors out to the terrace overlooking the sea. a pleasant place to relax.

Nothing really. If I had to make a criticism I would say that the restaurant food could be slightly improved. On one occasion the main course at dinner was served luke warm and the bacon from the breakfast buffet was dry and rather unappetising. With a little more care these glitches could be avoided.

We had a sea view room and the view was simply breathtakingly lovely. The gardens are very well kept and the steps down to the beach mean that you can easily get down there (if you don’t mind 150 steps or so) and walk into Swanage. The staff were charming and helpful. The bathroom was very modern and well presented with a great shower. Good comfortable chairs in the room so it was excellent for catching up on reading when we could tear ourselves away from the view.

the breakfast was quite basic; standard items in heated trays without lids on and newly cooked items put on top of those remaining in the dish. No fresh fruit - even Premier Inns have apples and bananas. The bed was very soft and we didn’t sleep very well. Menu for dinner quite limited - meat was good, very few vegetables served.

We absolutely loved the location of this hotel with just the garden separating the hotel from the cliff. The view is spectacular and steps from the garden (which are gated)lead down to the beach. We had a Superior sea view room with a balcony, the extra was well worth it. The room was spacious with a lovely decor and super comfortable seating and bed. The ensuite shower room was of a high standard. We enjoyed an evening meal at this hotel which was absolutely 😋 The next morning, we enjoyed a superb breakfast. The view from the restaurant overlooks the garden, cliffs and sea. Cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent. We will definitely return.

There was not one thing that we didn't like.

The pines is a lovely hotel with stunning views across the bay. All the staff were so kind & friendly, they make a great team & really want to make sure you have a wonderful holiday. Our room was lovely with really nice quality furniture, tasteful design & fittings. Everything we could have needed was provided. There was a great choice at breakfast & it was well organised. As the hotel was fully booked they made sure to ask what time we would be coming down for breakfast so that they could cope with service. Which was done to a very high standard. They also went to great trouble & planning to ensure we were able to get back into the carpark on such a busy carnival weekend. The lunch and dinner menus looked really nice but we had already booked to eat in local restaurants so missed out dining on this occasion. The garden is a lovely place to sit with a coffee or drinks while chatting with other guests, many of whom are regular visitors, which speaks volumes for the high standards set at the pines. I have always wanted to stay here after dining here in the past. We have already booked for next year.

A very comfortable, friendly and professionally run hotel in a spectacular - and quiet - location.

As a 'traditional' hotel, the restaurant menu sometimes verged on being too fancy for its own good (crushed pistachio nuts with venison??). A bread roll on the table would have helped with a first course pate and instead of the slice of brown bread with the soup. The portion of goat's cheese with honey, walnuts and raisins was much too large as a starter. The wine list gave no vintages. Sunday evening dinner felt like a continuation of Sunday lunch hours before - an unattractive plate piled high with slightly dry meat, generic gravy, tough roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Sorry to raise these niggles, but it just took the edge off a lovely dining room with friendly, attentive service, and an effort to rise above the usual bland restaurant fare everywhere else these days.

A good location directly overlooking the sea with, in addition, a pleasant view of the seaside and town. The room was nicely furnished in a modern style, and the bed gave a comfortable night's rest. The restaurant had the view over the sea, and served an excellent dinner with a good and reasonably priced wine list. The Pines Breakfast was a great start to the next day. Hopefully at some point it will be possible to return.

No major problems here. It's possible that the town centre could be a little far for those who are walking, whereas those who might, during a longer stay, go out elsewhere to drink occasionally, might not want the necessary drive back.

The location is beautiful. The garden has a fabulous view across the bay and steps down to the beach although they are very very steep and not suitable for people who struggle with steps. The bar staff and restaurant staff were absolutely charming. Reception staff were mostly good but one gentleman was a little ungracious. Beds very comfy. Dogs were welcome in rooms but not public areas.

My room had a view over the car park. The shower was so small you could barely move in it and it was easy to knock the mixer tap so it inadvertently got boiling hot or cold. The breakfast was fine but I would have liked a wider selection of fresh not tinned fruit and fresh juices.
