If you love history and historical buildings this is the place for you!!! Little London is true, pieces from many great buildings and monuments are found all around. J Mowlam definitely left his mark here. You must do Alex's tour! The hotel is beautiful (just a little tlc needed) perfectly located to wander to the beach and town. A great place, calm and relaxing. The staff are very helpful and show interest in you as well as being proud of their hotel and Swanage. Gardens are beautiful full of wildlife. Great secure parking too. We will definitely return.

The recent stay at the Purbeck House Hotel & Louisa Lodge in Swanage was a delightful experience. The room was delightful and the breakfast very good The central location was useful and there were places to eat. The Hotel staff were helpful particularly recommending places to eat and making arrangements to eat in the hotel The parking was good and although the distance from car park to reception was inconvenient I cannot see what you could do about it! It was useful to be able to stop for a few minutes just outside the door

The shower over the bath is not ideal especially for elderly guests and there could have been more support. Personally I would have preferred to have a good walk in shower and no bath! The opportunity to eat an evening meal in the hotel would have been welcome

Room was fabulous, spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were lovely, in quality and selection, and were served in the conservatory which was clean and bright. The staff were cheerful and helpful at all times. The location is ideal, being just a short walk into town, to the pier or to the beach. The car park ensures your car is safely tucked away and the garden is a delight for a bit of peaceful time. The building is full of local history, making it an interesting place to stay and we will definitely be going back. A warm sense of nostalgia bringing my 81 year old mum back to what was her convent 69 years ago!

It was lovely to be able to open the old large windows, but of course this lets the noise in from the street, so perhaps some air conditioning might make this the perfect set-up? Otherwise, there is nothing needed!

I really liked the character and atmosphere of Purbeck House. It is an original gentleman's residence largely unchanged. It's right in the centre of Swanage on a busy street, but the sunny gardens at the back are an oasis of calm. My room was very comfortable with high ceilings overlooking the gardens and was cool and quiet. I didn't have any breakfast.

Perhaps some local beer in the bar would be nice.

Everybody at the hotel was friendly and helpful. I stayed just one night while walking the SW Coast Path and its location was handy for dropping off the path in Swanage and picking it up again the next morning. I had a good single room that was spotlessly clean, which I appreciated. A firm mattress and a good choice of breakfast items in the large conservatory breakfast room, available from 7am onwards.

Paid extra for a superior room and was surprised to have an amazing room with a 4 poster bed. The property was an old listed building full or character and felt like staying in a National Trust property! The bar was comfortable and there was a nice lounge/dining area overlooking the garden. It was a surprise to find we could take in our own food (If we bought a drink) as there was no restaurant.

Due to the age of the property the bathroom was not brilliant, although adequate.

My room was very clean and comfortable, had good wifi and flatscreen tv with lots of channels. The deco is old fashion in main hotel but I like that, they have bought somethings up to date like wifi and USB charging points but kept the charm of the place. Excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. Location is perfect 3 min walk to town centre with pubs and restaurants. I have stayed here many times over the years after trying B&Bs and renting flats, I now always stay here. cannot really think of anything

The atmosphere and look if the hotel, it is beautiful.

To be honest, we book two nights, but because of illness of my partner we go away after first night, 7.00am, and they didn't offer us any voucher for the other night to realise in the future. Just take the money for both nights. It is not fair...we think, take the money for free. It is not very busy hotel.

Great location, convenient car park and the house and grounds were great. All the staff were courteous and friendly.

The size of the bathroom, but there isn't much the hotel could do different.
