A comfortable stay, the room was spacious, clean and felt modern, also the hotel was easy to find. The fridge and coffee making facilities were great. USB charging ports were also really useful as we had travelled from overseas. Parking was available and gave us peace of mind that the gates were locked for a significant period of time overnight. We were pleasantly surprised by our stay, thankyou!

It's not necessarily a "didn't like", but the sliding bathroom door left a slight gap when it touched the skirting board so didn't give complete privacy.

I travelled with a friend, so we booked a room with two Queen beds. The room was large and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The room had some kitchen facilities (small fridge, microwave, coffee machine and cups) which was all that we needed. There was an air conditioner in the room, which was very much appreciated in the hot summer weather. The owners were very helpful. The location was just off the main highway, in a quiet neighbourhood, but close to shops and restaurants. There was free WiFi, but we didn't use it. There was a large screen TV with lots of channels.

The only place to hang clothes was a set of hooks hanging on the bathroom door. There was no ventilation in the bathroom - no fan and we could not get the window open.

I can recommend this modest motel. The staff gave me a friendly reception and professional hospitality. They were helpful without being overbearing. Emerose told me about local walking options to see the old part of Duncan. I appreciated that, as I like local history. I walked around the area that Emerose suggested. Thank you! The professionalism gave me the impression that the receptionist could have been the owner. I don't know, but that's how calm and in-charge the staff were. The room I got was sparkling clean. I think the staff clearly put in effort to keep the presentation top notch. I felt reassured falling asleep in this tidy motel room. There were signs that someone was renovating one of the suites, so the owners are making sure that this classic, small-town motel is not getting run-down. The review questionnaire asked me to rate the view. There is no view to speak of from the room I stayed in, as this is a classic motel where all the entrances face a parking courtyard. So, the "view" is not applicable, as this is a motel. That's kind of how it is supposed to be. Once you are outside, there is plenty to see, as this is near the beautiful Cowichan Valley. The sign-in sheet makes it clear that the motel will not tolerate rowdiness that would disturb other guests. Other than the gentle murmur of people sitting outside, enjoying late summer evening, there were no sounds. I got a good night's sleep. The location helps, as the motel is on a quiet side-street, but very close to downtown Duncan. The Duncan Motel has the feel of a family-run business, run by people who work hard to give you good value and a pleasant stay. Positive online reviews helped me choose this motel. I think that the positive reviews are justified.

I think it is hard to find fault with this motel. If you want a modest, pleasant place to stay, this is a good place to go.

Very nice upgrades to the rooms. The manager was very hospitable. She was very attentive to my needs. I really like the upgrades they did to the bathroom. I found the room extremely clean The cleaning staff were also very friendly. The location is central for many places I wanted to visit.

Really can't say anything negative about the place

Recently renovated so had a fresh look and feel. Also we had two rooms separated by a door which was nice for kids. Full kitchen and fridge/freezer allowed us to make our own food when needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was good for us as restaurants and grocery stores were very close by. The aquatic center was also close by which was perfect for early evening swims, kids loved that.

Surrounding streets had a bit more trash strewn about than we are used to. Main road (trans canada highway #1) connecting to the street (alexander) the motel is on was congested at times making getting onto that main road a challenge (fortunately there are alternate side ride roads to get around this).

Our room in this modest inn had just been redecorated and was clean and appealing, with a small kitchen, dining table and chairs and large comfortable beds in two separate rooms. The inn had many attractive touches, including potted plants. We could tell that the staff and management was working hard to make it comfortable and attractive.

I loved the hardwood floors and the layout of the room. We had a living room area with sofa and TV, a kitchenette, and then our room and bathroom to the side. It was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We rode our bikes there and one of our tires we couldn't pump and the lady manager was very kind to lend us an electric pump!

The room was clean, the staff was super kind, and although the motel isn’t located in the best part of Duncan, I felt completely safe on the nights I was there by myself as a female. Air conditioning worked well. The room was freshly painted and renovated all except the bathroom which was still in fine clean working order.

The location wasn’t killer. There’s a lot of interesting people downtown Duncan. The motel is definitely under renovation. The rooms are nice enough but the stairs getting up to the top floor were a bit worrisome.

The room was clean and the front desk staff were very friendly. We appreciated the offer of a flexible check-in, though we ended up arriving before the posted closing time. We liked that we had a mini-fridge and a Keurig coffeemaker with some free coffee pods. We also appreciated the full cable TV.

The room felt cramped and the pillows were too thick. It seemed overpriced for a motel.

I've stayed here several times. I started coming for the price. But now I come for the wonderful staff and the comfy, clean rooms. They have the best pillows. And I mustn't forget mentioning their very, very quiet air conditioning.

Nothing. Oh wait. The coffee maker in my room didn't work.
