We recently stayed at the Beachcomber Motel and had a truly lovely experience. We originally booked a room with a kitchenette. The room looks out to a communal deck, which is a great concept when guests are mindful of shared space etiquette. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to understand what 'communal' really means, which can affect the vibe. Of course, that's not something the motel can control, but the setup itself is charming and well thought out. This room we initially booked did not work out. Thankfully, the front desk staff was amazing. Without any hassle, they helped us switch to a smaller room without a kitchenette, and it ended up being perfect. Cozy, peaceful, and with unbeatable views. The beach was literally just steps away, and the vibe for the second half of our stay—especially while spending time with family—was relaxing and just what we needed. It was such a wonderful feeling to wake up and sit on the patio, coffee in hand and just listen to the ocean. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Kind, accommodating, and genuinely welcoming. That level of care really stood out and made our visit memorable. We will definitely be back next year!

I do wish there were more fire pits available, but that’s just a small suggestion—not a dealbreaker by any means!

The view and the location were excellent. The room was good, the bathroom needed a little upgrading.

We arrived 20 minutes before check in time and staff said they would call us as soon as it was ready. After about 35 minutes, we decided to check. The room was ready and we were checked in with no explanation of why they did not call. The first floor rooms were all connected by the back patio, allowing other people to walk through, including the cleaning staff. The toilet handle would get stuck and allow water to flow endlessly if you did not make sure it closed. The toiletries that were supplied were not of very good quality for the price point.

We booked a Friday night at the Beachcomber Motel and, when we arrived, found it so comfortable and attractive that we asked to extend our stay through Saturday night. Unfortunately for us, our large room with an ocean view was already reserved by someone else for Saturday, so we moved to a smaller one without a view for the second night. In addition to the ocean view, a big draw for us was the EV charging station. They have two, and one was available whenever we needed it. We were very happy in the large, upstairs, more expensive room. On one side of the Beachcomber is the main road; on the other is an asphalt path along the ocean. We walked along it for a bit and would have done more except that weekend there was a brisk, very cold wind.

My wife felt crowded in the smaller room. She needs space for medical equipment and thought the (electric) fireplace and fake plant were unnecessary. I enjoyed the heat and ambiance of the fireplace but was bothered by noises from tenants above and from being near the stairs.

Beautiful location and amenities.

Upon checking in later in the evening, I went down to use the firepits and deck. Sat down for 5 minutes to have everything, including lights, shut off on me and my group. I wasn't informed of the 10am kill time for all activities when i was checking in. Though, it is a noise ordinance and we had no intention of having a loud party. We asked if late check in guests couldnt have 30 minutes extention to use the amenities bc we paid to be there. The staff was dry, and unfriendly when denying us even the consideration. Also, The first room provided to us smelled like feet and we had to change rooms.

Located right next to the beach, this hotel is situated in the perfect location. A short trek down a trail and you’re on the beach and a short walk to glass beach. The check in was smooth and easy, and the staff were very polite and friendly. It’s also pet friendly. The beach was clean and relatively empty. The water is not safe to swim in as the seas were quite rough, however there was a naturally made lake on the opposite side of the beach that fills with fresh sea water during high tide. This made for a much safer place for my daughter to go and play in the water.

The bathtub did not hold the water in, so we had to stuff a towel into the drain to be able to take a bath. There was also no working foot wash stations around our room making it difficult to not trek sand into the room and bath.

Best views of the ocean from our deck! We loved the jacuzzi tub and s’mores at the fire pits. The front desk staff are wonderful and accommodating.

The small side window needs to have better curtains to block the lights at night. We used 2 bath towels the 2nd night and slept better. My mother in law was in a down stairs room that had bent screens from someone trying to break in. That was a bit concerning as we noticed a few homeless people wondering by.

Loved the location, Bed was comfy, very clean, and very nice views of the ocean! Greeted with smiles at the check-in counter, which is always nice as well. Overall it was a great stay for us! They even have a few fire pits to cook some Smore's!

I bought 2 small candy bars and a short stack pringles, and it was $12.00!!! I felt like that was highway robbery. If I had known the prices, I would have never paid that. Prices should be marked! I mean, that's 4 bucks a piece!!! I have yet to see the price charged for a light jacket my hubby bought charged on our room card.

The location is to die for! Watching the sunset from your balcony can’t be beaten, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean & waking up to that view was just heaven! We stayed in a 2 queen bed suite (upgraded from a standard sea view room) and it had everything we needed & more! The beds were so so comfortable, I wish we hadn’t just been passing through! We will definitely be back again on our next road trip!

Our room was clean, huge and modern, overlooking the beach. The fireplace was a wonderful touch. The property backs up to a bike/walking path, and has unobstructed views of the ocean. Ft Bragg is not too far from Medocino, so Beachcomber Motel is a wonderful alternative if you cannot find accommodation in Mendocino.

It is a 20 minute walk to town, not too bad, but we were thankful there is a taxi in town.

It is an awesome location right on the coastal trail for walking, exploring, and biking with ocean views. Our room was right in front of the deck with picnic tables and fire pit. We loved using the fire pit to make s’mores! We watched the sunset with unobstructed views. It was a nice touch having its own dog park too.

The walls are a little thin and loud neighbors can easily disturb you. I recommend ear plugs and a sleep mask. There are no drawers for clothing and minimal shelf space in the bathroom.
