Good location. Comfortable room with view of the ocean. Manager was very accommodating.
Room remodel was incomplete…needed more lighting (especially by the bed), needed another night stand, needed small refrigerator & microwave. Couldn’t figure out how to use tv. And needed extra trash bin. No breakfast.

We absolutely loved this place! The bungalow was roomy, cozy, had a fireplace, a giant soaker tub overlooking the ocean and a great shower. It was clean, upscale and very, very welcoming. The front desk staff could not have been kinder. Bed was great. We had a patio overlooking the lawn and ocean. There was a fire pit and picnic tables lit at night for making smores - they give you a kit and a stick for toasting marshmallows. It's a two-minute drive to downtown Mendo. It's quiet. It just felt like home. Loved, loved, loved it! Can't imagine staying anywhere else.
Nothing.

Since my stay just over a year ago, they have installed signs from Hwy 1, and a couple on the road, so it is really easy to find the bungalows now. I was given a free upgrade because I stayed three nights and it is out of season, the bungalow was fabulous. The staff were friendly, the ocean views and short walks on the premises were great. The grounds are spacious so not all the bungalows are clustered together, which gives a really homely feel to staying there.
For bungalows 1 & 2, there could be a couple of road reflectors - I reversed my car in the dark and would have benefited from this as there is an incline that I feared my car could have gone into: I am a cautious driver when reversing, so for many it wouldn't have been an issue.

The place is set in a perfect location on the other side of highway 1 overlooking The ocean and is very quiet. The hosts are most accommodating. Lou works wonders on a moment's notice and is friendly and doesn't complain at all we presented with challenges. His partner is also very kind and I spoke with her only on the phone. The place has been around for a long time, and I was speaking to some people down at the Luna trattoria which is a good restaurant in town, but locals know it is another name and had a different decor but they have completely upgraded it to a very modern facility with the most tasteful decorations and even the funny Las Vegas glitz is charming. I stayed in the ADU unit or whatever you call it for the handicap that they have to have and the shower was phenomenal. The bathrooms and everything are top-notch modern. And that's what I'm most impressed about this place is that they took something that was old and dated and turned it into an ultra modern luxury hotel in the same footprint. I'm a paining contractor and I'm also in the process of making my place rentable. I rented many places in the past but what they've done with the space is truly amazing. And I don't blow smoke up people's butt. This is unsolicited and I've stayed here twice. Not to mention the price is great if you come on short notice and they need to fill rooms you'll find something good on booking for a good price. I've been surprised both times with the price and the easiness of check-in. I didn't have a credit card or a driver's license but I paid on booking and they didn't harass me about little details like that which is to say a lot.. I've stayed here twice over the past 6 months and I have not seen a decline in anything. Things have note are the Nespresso machine and the many different types of espresso and coffees you can shoot in it.
I really don't have a complaint. Some people were complain about the rather loose way in which you get your key if you come late and nobody is around but they were immediately responsive and help me find my place even though I was a little out of it after a couple glasses of wine at Luna trattoria. Another must visit in town. The owner is a wonderful lady and full of fun as well as her Italian husband Massimo. If you run into Hank at the bar, a local with a very fascinating past. You can't go wrong picking Hanks brain. Just don't bet him in golf.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The bed was excellent and comfortable, the room was spacious and the wifi worked super well. When we travel with our dog, it's important to us to have a place close by to run her and this location was just perfect! Wonderful grassy area that was located right outside our studio room. You can tell a lot of thought went into the furnishing and amenities here. Loved the Nespresso machine in the room, made delicious and large cups of coffee!
The only drawbacks to the room we were in was lack of a mirror outside the bathroom; no closet to hang items ( thougn very generous shelving in closets and also a dresser) and the shower was very small. That would be the reason I would request a different room.

This is a stunning location outside of downtown Mendocino. We (a family of 5) were looking for something more private as we started a two-week road trip to the Pacific Northwest. This exceeded our expectations—it was very clean and modern. We were all a bit sad we only stayed one night, so we hope to return Labor Day weekend for a longer stay. The main town and the beaches are all very close by if you are driving. I would recommend it to couples and families.
We arrived very close to closing due to heavy traffic from the SF Bay area, although the staff was friendly. I noticed there were extras in the lobby, like wine, but they were not offered. It may have been the time of day, but again, the staff was professional & friendly. Since I worked at a lodge once, I thought it would have been nice to reach out with something special after a long trip.

I loved the little bungalows. They’ve all been very nicely remodeled so they are fresh and modern. I liked the quiet heater in the fireplace and the laminated wood flooring. Also, the view out of the room’s back window was beautiful.
There was a very large gap between the entry door and the floor so our room could not get warmer than the outdoors even with the heater on full and a little slug entered our room. This was all solved by relocating the slug and moving the bathroom rug to block the gap. But the management should put in weather stripping at the base of the door. And some curtains over the windows instead of shutters would keep the heat in too.

The room was very well appointed, very clean and nice. The bed was a bit soft for our tastes, but it was OK. The only issue was tht there was a little box under a shelf that was the gateway for the electronic door lock that was flashing all night lighting up the room.

The staff was super helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and newly renovated. Super pet friendly. They even had a little welcome kit for my pups. Beds were plush and comfortable. Loved the bungalow feel. They had a little campfire area and had stuff for s’mores in the office. Outside seating areas for picnics and sitting. Didn’t feel like I was staying in a hotel. You can tell they put a lot of love and effort into it. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and found myself spending more time in the room because it was so comfortable.
Not much I didn’t like! Some things to keep in mind: They didn’t have daily turndown service but I don’t like daily turndown so that didn’t bother me at all. You can always get fresh towels or anything else you need at the front desk. Rooms didn’t have a refrigerator and Mendocino is a small town that closes early so I had to get most of my meals out in fort Bragg but again, they didn’t advertise to have these things and it wasn’t a big deal not to have them.

We feel lucky to have happened upon this charming little hotel. The room was wonderful, very spacious and clean with lots of space to move around. They had put the heat on by way of the fire place when we got there which made the room incredibly hot upon arrival. We did need to open all of the window that we could to try and cool the room down. By the time we got back from dinner the room was cooled down and we had a great night's sleep. You could tell care had been made to provide the just right linens and room accessories. The room has a more modern vibe but there was charm all around. Attention to detail was noted.
The key was left in a box which allowed us to check in on our own but then when we had questions there was no answer at the phone number given for emergencies. Also just as a side note, it would be helpful to have printed directions on how to access the TV.
