Price was not cheap but it's the cheapest I found. I chose single room with bath and the room can fit double bed (size-wise). Fitted with single bed, they also add medium-sized fridge, a round table with chair and electric heater. Arrived after sundown at 2C, took a cab & asked hotel for Japanese address (for taxi driver reference). Check-in was smooth and I was brought to my room with the heater already ON! Check-out the next morning by walking to Kumoba Pond and Kyu-Karuizawa. From there, took the bus to Shiraito Falls then back to Kyu-Karuizawa and took red bus to Usui Observation Pass. When I got back to hotel to retrieve luggage, the receptionist kindly arrange to send me to Karuizawa Station. Staff are kindful lot and it was a very memorable and heart-warming stay. Hope the staff keep up their energy for guests' amazing stay at Karuizawa!

The location was superb . The immediate surrounds where green beautiful and quiet. But just around the corner was the main street with lots of food and shopping. We hired bikes and rode everywhere. The staff where amazing looking after our every need. driving us to local places and giving us tips to make the most out of our holiday.

Beds where a bit hard for me. There was not a good area to lounge in the lobby ( but there was so much to do so we were never there anyway)

We had private bathrooms, but the fact that others had shared bathrooms caused some travel on the floor during the night, which you could hear. All in all, this is not a super new accommodation, but still good value for the money, especially in Karuizawa.

Each room has a refrigerator. The room heater is also really strong so im always alternating between very cold and very hot 😅 The breakfast is a buffet spread and for dinner, you can choose the set you want. If you booked a room without toilet, the shower is on the first floor. The laundry and dryer is free to use but honestly, they are quite dirty. They also offer free shuttle within a 15min ride. The nearest bus stop is called shindo, 3min walk away and it goes to harunire and shiraito.

Breakfast was buffet style and was worth the money. It was pretty decent. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful, free hotel transfer is excellent Heater in room was strong which is good but can get abit too hot and stuffy

Showering facilities were onsen style for those that do not have a private bathroom, so there are no cubicles. Tourists from other countries might want to take note of that.

We loved friendly, hospitable and kind staff there at this pension. They are always there for you to meet your needs! Their buffet breakfast was great as well.

There is nothing that we didn't like about this pension. However, we thought the building could use some painting and cleaning and it would make it perfect.

A fairly priced option for travellers without cars, most others are either a lot more expensive or so far away. This is more like a hostel but you have all the privacy needed. They also kept the place clean by javing guests leaving their shoes at the entrance. They also kindly offered to send us back to the train station.

If you want to have the gasoline heater on overnight, you may want the ventilator on as well even though they used an isolated airing system already. The ventilator produces considerable noise at nighttime. But tje room is actually not crazy cold so you caa turn those off.

The staff was super nice. I booked the hotel for a birthday trip. The staff was friendly and always had a smile on their face. They offered to pick us up and drop us off at the station with our suitcases. It was very cold so we were very appreciative of them. They picked us up at night when we had first arrived and pre-heated the rooms. They also have various amenities as well as a case full of drinks and snacks, which I found very thoughtful for the customers. Overall the price was very good for the stay and the location as well. There were a fair amount of restaurants close to the pension. The outlet was also a short walk from it.

Great hotel in a convenient location near Karuizawa. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Breakfast was nice Japanese style and delicious. The hotel offers all facilities and lots of amenities. We booked last minute and I highly recommend!

Excellent location, cozy and warm in the winter, super friendly and helpful staff, everything was as good or better than we expected, thank you for a lovely stay!

It's not something we didn't like but it's good to know that the parking can get a little full at night, but the staff are very helpful about moving cars around to making sure everybody can squeeze in so no worries.
