Value for money. Nice to have a pool. Great location. Large bedrooms. Good quality breakfast items. Decent restaurant. Lovely welcoming and friendly and efficient staff. Restaurant staff amazing. Would come again. But some attention to the upkeep is required as in stains on carpets, which is simple to rectify and not too expensive, yet important.

Leisure centre very scruffy in areas. No jacuzzi. Holes in walls, no hot shower for gents. Stains on our bedroom carpet and window seat. Curtain hanging off rail. My parents (elderly) only wanted eggs and tomato for breakfast, so they should have at least been given a whole tomato rather than half, as they had no sausage, bacon or fried bread. Half a tomato is rather "tight" even with the full breakfast, tomatoes are not exactly expensive!! Please give people who don't want a full English extra of what they do want, ie a whole tomato, 2 eggs, double the beans etc. The little dishes to hold the beans were more like a dish you would put a portion of ketchup in, too small for an adult portion of beans. Beans are very cheap and easy to serve.

Hotel was very clean. All meals were very good in their preparation, presentation and quality of food. Menu was always varied. The waiting staff were excellent and were a credit to the hotel. Bedroom was a good size and the bed was extremely comfortable.

Bedroom was extremely hot due to being next to the boiler room which radiated heat. Housekeeping was occasionally incomplete, though this was overcome without fuss by reception. Buffet provisions sometimes ran out, and needed to be bought to staff's attention. Lift was occasionally taken over by housekeeping staff and therefore not always available when required.

Super location in beautiful grounds. Hotel has a lovely atmosphere with echos of former glory. Every member of staff we met were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and appreciated. The lounge area on the right of the entrance was a lovely place to relax and the provision of tea, coffee and books an extra bonus! Very much enjoying meeting so many international guests. Very comfortable beds and attentive housekeeping.

Our room felt quite shabby and unloved. The only picture hook had no picture, damaged door surround and paintwork would all be quick fixes that would make me feel more valued as a guest.

Loved the location of the hotel, a couple of minutes from the sea front. Hotel was very dog friendly with good gardens to walk them. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable there and would definitely book the same room again.

The overall impression of the hotel was that it was very tatty and needed a good injection of cash. Wallpaper was hanging off the wall in the dining room and everywhere needed a lick of paint. The grounds were also in need of attention. Although breakfast hours were 8 to 9.30, by 9 o'clock there were no cups, and very little pastries......

The staff were all very nice, cheerful and helpful. Beautiful grounds, a few minutes walk from the town. Dog friendly hotel with separate eating area for those who wanted to have their furry friends with them, plus dogs got a sausage for breakfast! Large bedroom, comfortable beds, tea/coffee in rooms, TV. Good selection of food for breakfast including cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurts, fruit juices, along with a cooked breakfast with a vegetarian option. Afternoon and evening menus available can't comment on them as we ate out evenings. Indoor heated swimming pool available. On site parking. WiFi.

Problem with the shower door, which in fairness they did try to resolve but couldn't at the time. The hotel was fully booked so we couldn't change rooms, so they gave us a small discount on our room bill. The cleaning in the rooms was ok but more attention to detail would be beneficial, e.g the bathroom window had a mildew/mould build up from condensation in the room, easily cleaned off with a cloth, the shower tray needed cleaning around where the doors overlapped. Although these aren't major issues it does bring down ones thoughts on the property.

We loved the premises and our room, which was spacious and comfortable, and the great view was much appreciated. The swimming pool, steam room, and jacuzzi were brilliant, and we loved how they were included in the price. The location is great, only a few minutes walk to the beach and centre of Minehead. The gardens looked great too. There are two options for eating at the hotel- one more relaxed with cheaper prices and another in a classy restaurant, all on the premises. We didn't make use of these as we were on a budget. Would come back!

I just felt like they could do with a deep clean of carpets, nooks, and cranies where dust had collected etc. Maybe a little refresh of deep cleaning and touch-ups would be good by people with an eye for detail. Shower does go off at 11pm and can be cold from time to time because of old boiler system.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were very polite and couldn't have been more helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were both of a decent size, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful. The evening meal menu changes daily and you can choose from one course to two courses. We had two courses and were very pleased with our choices. Breakfast is both continental and cooked, so you don't have to choose one or the other. We used the swimming pool and steam room but the jacuzzi was not in use during our stay. The hotel itself has a lovely garden and a terrace to enjoy an evening drink in the sunshine. If you take the pathway to the edge of the garden, the promenade is just a two minute walk away. We were very happy with our stay.

Parts are a little 'old fashioned' but that didn't distract from a great stay, for us.

Food excellent, staff very attentive, friendly and helpful, lounge, bar and dinning area clean. Bed very comfy. Close to everything we needed. Swimming pool and jacuzzi good, lovely and warm, Garden lovely, but seen negative comments.

Swimming area needed maintenance along with the gardens. Bedroom maintenance and cleaning very poor. Plus, we had to keep asking for shower gel and shampoo, water, etc. Each day. We never got the shower gel. Fan broken, window hinge broken. The shower only worked if you turned on hand basin first.

The food at Northfield was excellent and good value. The pool was the right temperature for both proper swimming and those who just wanted a relaxing swim The lounges were pleasant and coffee was provided free after the evening meal. Our room was large with windows looking both east and north. There were plenty of drawers to put things away and a reasonable number of hangers in the wardrobe. The hair dryer was near a mirror and the beside lamps were bright enough to be able to read in bed!!

the lift was rather dated and with our mobility problems hard to open. The radiators were not working but a moveable radiator was provided (and needed!) The bed covers were thin and we needed to put on the extra blankets provided. Our request for a walk-in shower did not reach the hotel, so we both had difficulty getting into and out of the bath to reach the shower. I thought there was a problems with the shower but in fact it was because I didn't turn the knob far enough round to hot (because I thought it was at the limit).

Excellent location with a cut thru the garden to avoid the hill walk back up. Garden area was fabulous with plenty of seating available, I would rate this better than a 3 star more of a four.

Not once did we see the bar open or indeed anyone behind it .... not a big drinker but it would be nice to sit on the terrace with a beer on occasions. In our room (14) little easy repairs could have been completed ... drawer handle broken, toilet roll holder very lose and the brackets on the underside of the toilet seat broken in places, very simple repairs.
