The location is perfect for exploring Porlock village. It’s also good point for walking from. There are several coffee shops and pubs. Our favourite is the Whortleberry Tea Room for a lunch time snack or a well deserved cake. The Ship Inn was exceptional service bang on and the food restaurant standard. The cottage accommodation was very good the breakfast excellent and in a lovely room. We particularly like the lounge area which we relaxed in for a while after breakfast and when returning having been out for Dinner. The coffee machine and choice of several different coffees I found particularly important being a coffee lover.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and in an ideal location that suited our needs. We wanted a base to explore local National Trust properties and land. We were able to park our car a little early, in the car parking spaces at the rear of the property. This enabled us to explore a little and find somewhere to go for dinner later. We were shown to our room which was lovely and spotlessly clean. It overlooked the high street. Great tea and coffee facilities and toiletries provided. A short walk later to the local Ship Inn, we dinned out and enjoyed a very good tasty dinner, served by very friendly staff. We enjoyed a quiet, comfortable night in our room. Breakfast was lovely. Very attentive hosts without being overbearing. The cooked breakfast was locally sourced and cooked beautifully. There was also a very good range of cereals, fruit juices, jams, yoghurt etc. Our hosts gave us tips on the area and best routes to take before we left. A lovely, warm and friendly place to stay. Highly recommended 👌

We found nothing to dislike! The only suggestion I would make, would be to take wellies or decent walking boots. If the weather is wet you will need them as the walk down to the beach is through a dirt track and field. I didn't quite make it in trainers!!

Lovely hosts excellent breakfast. Enjoyed chatting. Was friendly in the dining room with other guests. Loved the coffee in the guest lounge and the sweets. Helped me to curb my after dinner sweet cravings. Bath bubbles, hand cream were added to bathroom essentials. I thought very thoughtful overall with all additions.

Bathroom had no window so reliant on noisy extractor which is not ideal when soaking and relaxing. Room cold 1st night but maybe because it had not had time to heat up as the 2nd night was perfectly cosy. There was also a really cosy blanket in the wardrobe.

My husband and I have just returned from the most relaxing stay with the super lovely Chris and Clare at The Cottage. Everything about their beautiful property was absolutely perfect. From the warm reception we received upon arrival, the excellent and freshly cooked vegan breakfasts for myself and my husband, to the warm, peaceful and immaculate room. They even made sure we had fresh oat milk in our room ready and waiting for us each day when we got back from a long walk so we could make a delicious Miles coffee or tea. Exceptional hosts, beautiful property and we will most definitely be back. Thank you to you both.

Lovely characterful cottage. Clean, comfortable and run by helpful hosts. Perfect breakfasts, comfortable beds, everything in good order. Well-situated in the most picturesque village. We stopped at Lynmouth to have a look around and stayed all day, walking the Watersmeet river path. This place is magical. Great conversations with other visitors to the area at The Castle pub. Step out of The Cottage into The Castle, opposite, from one warm welcome to another! Chris & Clare think of everything for their guests. You'll find a cosy lounge with coffee machine; boot storage for your footwear after a day's walk; books, games and conversation to help you plan the logistics of your stay if you need help. This BnB is beautifully managed. Everything is perfect. My room was large, clean, and comfortable and the en suite had an excellent shower. When I entered the room I was concerned about the noise from the very busy street but as soon as I closed the window there was silence. The location is great - near all the shops and only a short walk to the Coastal Path. Breakfast was excellent - perfectly cooked and served The owners are friendly and super helpful.

Faultlessly clean and immaculately presented property in an accessible location. Room is spacious and bathroom is stocked with everything you could need but not carry if you’re walking the Coast Path or travelling light. Welcome from the proprietors felt warm and genuine, very important for solo travellers who often haven’t spoken to anyone in a while! Would recommend to anyone passing through the lovely village of Porlock.

Bed was huge and comfy but was two beds pushed together. This is me really reaching for a negative though.

Lovely stay in this beautiful cottage with friends before our South West Coast Path walk the next day. We had a great cooked breakfast to set us up for our day of walking and Chris and Clare were wonderful hosts that made us feel very welcome and also had great advice for our walk. Would definitely stay again- location is perfect too and we had a delicious dinner at The Ship Inn, 2 mins walk away.

The Cottage is in a beautiful place and it's quiet with lots if beautiful pubs and a church, lots of shops to have a wander. The room was lovely and bright and had everything we needed. We also loved that Chris and Clare topped up the room with tea/coffee/milk biscuits and were always on hand should we need any tourist advice and help. The breakfast was also very lovely! Breakfast was cooked to perfection, the room had everything in it for a perfect stay, and of high quality, Local Teas and coffee, fresh milk each day. Toiletries were excellent, and the room was top quality. The floorboards were a bit squeaky, but that's the beauty of stopping in such a wonderful old building with so much character.
