The welcome we received from Sheila and Bruce was lovely. The house is sophisticated and the atmosphere is relaxing. They couldn’t do enough for us and kindly cooked us supper where we had a romantic meal for 2 in their stunning dining room. Sheila was happy to cater for my dietary requirements (dairy and gluten free). Our room (The Luttrell) was very elegant and the shower room was immaculate. The bed was very comfortable. We would definitely recommend this place and hope to return one day.

The only slightly negative thing to mention was that it wasn’t clear that the hot tub (even though it was solely ours to use) was not adjacent or close to the room, so we didn’t end up using it.

My stay at The Great House was perfect. The house is a lovely listed property with easy parking. The innkeepers are present and make everyone feel comfortable and are at the ready to meet requests and provide suggestions. The Luttrell suite is blissfully dark at night and quiet with a very comfy four poster bed. Wi-fi was sufficient to stream lots of Glastonbury during my stay. Very dog friendly in a quiet neighbourhood. Bath and shower room was spotless clean with super hot water and great water pressure. Breakfast was made to order with the some of the best sausage I've ever had. Coffee served in French press.

There was nothing I did not like. There wasn't anything I would change. Be aware that you're staying in a listed property, so don't expect modern. Expect a period specific renovation and I enjoyed it immensely.

Bruce and Sheila were the best. I got lost the night we were scheduled to check in. I called them a number of times and they finally came to where I was and had me follow them back tho the house. Most gracious and helpful, going way beyond what others would do! Great host! Definitely high recommendations for them!

Bruce and Sheila were extremely welcoming and attentive, the bar and lounge were really interesting and comfortable, food great, and room very clean and perfect for families. Loved the low plastic policy as well.

This is a very special and unusual property. Everything has been renovated leaving the patina of the years and it is amazing to hear all about the work and the discoveries made in the property. The decoration is stunning, food is locally sourced or homemade and the ethics of the B and B are sustainability.

I loved the relaxed ambience, the facilities for guests ( lounge and tiny bar) books and games to borrow, lots of information and maps about walks and places to go in the area. Very friendly staff, lovely feeling of history and nice decorations.

The owners did everything they could to make us feel at home. My husband is coeliac and they catered for him so well, which was very much appreciated. The room was big and very nicely decorated. We will certainly be back.

Lovely hosts, incredible accommodation, amazing breakfast in a good location for exploring Exmoor. Sheila & Bruce are very knowledgeable on the area and we followed their advice and got to see the very best of Exmoor and the coastline. It's a beautiful historic house, so don't expect everything to be perfect for such an old building. But wins every time on unique, boutique and best décor. A lovely B&B, and a very warm welcome from Bruce and Sheila. Dinner was delicious, and the B&B is really well located to explore the local area. Our daughter loved the family room (and the bacon)!

A beautiful house, lovingly restored by a very welcoming and attentive family. Full of rare character features, with lots of hidden history but also very, very comfortable. And the breakfast was great!
