Myself and a friend spent 3 nights here, specifically to see the castle. The owners were amazing, they could not do enough for us, very informative about the area. Breakfast was utterly delicious, presentation was second to none. When we visited evening meals were unavailable, but there are several options with just a couple of minutes walk. One evening we asked if we could have some of our own food in the lounge area, it was only cheese and biscuits, as we didn't feel like eating out again, but they laid a table up for us rather tha have it on our laps, and supplied glasses for our own wine as the bar was also not open. I think this was due to being early in the year and the season hadn't started. The owners could not have accommodated us more. Dunster itself is small but well worth a visit, especially with the castle. We also visited surrounding villages, watchet, Porlock, blue anchor Bay. Dunster also have some nice walks, so if your visiting head down a side street and see where it takes you. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Lovely welcome from the family, easy atmosphere and loved that we could take our own alcohol and food, but use all hotel beautiful lounge and dining facilities as we wanted, with a fridge to keep everything we wanted in, too!! We could even order in a takeaway and eat in the dining room if we wanted too, and they would set a table to eat it on!!Fabulous breakfast each morning - we certainly didn't need much else through the day. Lovely room, everywhere was beautifully decorated and furnished, and felt really homely and comfortable. We loved it, thank you!!! - oh, and parking in the village was a eeal bonus

The "hotel" is actually run as a B&B with minimum staffing. I wondered how itwould work but the owners are really friendly and helpful and we lacked nothing. The hotel itself is really comfortable and, despite being old, smells fresh. Breakfast was pre-ordered which meant choosing a time but it arrived within a few minutes of us sitting at the table, which was really nice. The food was really great with a wide choice and perfectly-cooked eggs!!! Car park was good but the entrance would not suit a wide car like a Ferrari

As a B&B, it was lovely. Because it uses "Hotel" in its title, one couple were dissatified that the bar was not manned but the owners were so helpful that I suspect that, if they had been called, they would have manned the bar.

My parents, my little dog and I had a lovely stay here. The hosts were genuinely friendly, warm-hearted people who obviously put a lot of love into the place. We were able to park securely off the street, and the hotel met my request to give my parents a ground floor flat so they didn't have to climb up stairs etc. Meanwhile me and my dog had a great time and a lovely sleep in our room upstairs, we put some of our road trip provisions in the fridge that's available to all the guests. A complementary drop of sherry in the room made us feel very looked after. Breakfast was delicious, served with a smile and my dog even got her own little serving of bacon :) Very short walk to the castle - with beautiful, ancient structures and woodland to explore.

Not the fault of the hosts but as they explained, they have had to turn their bar into a bottle-only service and they don't serve food outside of breakfast time anymore, this is due to lack of available staff in the area. We had some great suggestions instead which were more than adequate and within easy walking distance.

The hotel is in a wonderful location at the foot of the hill with the castle on top. The owners were both lovely, the hotel decor was quirky and the attention to detail across the whole experience was excellent. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and there were some lovely welcome treats. The breakfast was superb not only in taste but also in presentation. We placed our order the evening before and the food and drink started rolling out almost as soon as we sat down. There was a good choice on the breakfast menu and you were able to choose whatever you wanted.

Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The owners even found some gluten free sausages for me. No real Bar but you were welcomed to bring your own drinks if dinner was not being served.

Bathroom was compact. Room which was outside of the main hotel was a little tardy and musty. Parking whilst free is through a very tight opening. Dinner was only available on 1 of our nights, no real bar as such, nevertheless the wine with dinner was most acceptable. I would describe its category as boutique or B&B.

Everything about the hotel was exceptional. Lisa, John and staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and our room comfortable with tasteful decor. We had access to a fridge and microwave which was very useful, and the snug area was lovely and cozy. There was plenty of choice with regard to tasty breakfasts, rangng from freshly prepared fruit, eggs royale/benedict, cereals and a full English, with a vegetarian option too, both cooked to perfection. I have stayed in many hotels of all descriptions and would definitely rate this as being one of the best I have experienced.

It was great . Parking was good large car park check in was good . We were going to have a bath but the hot tap didn’t work and the sink cold tap was hot ! But apart from that quite and well decorated slept well and the breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever had . Sherry on arrival in our room sparkling water left for us , nothing was to much trouble. Keys for front door to come and go as and when .

It was spacious and comfortable and decorated beautifully it was quirky like homely. And hosted well .

Not a dislike as such but would like to say leaving the hotel in a big wide car was a challenge in its self through the car parks narrow archway.

Lovely location within walking distance to the castle. John and Lisa are clearly a couple who care about the business. Well organised, a very friendly welcome and will go that extra mile to help you. Breakfast is top notch and served quickly. If we ever visit this part of the country again, we wouldn’t hesitate to book our stay here again.

The only downside we found was finding somewhere to eat. The place seems to close down at 5pm. However, Minehead is just a 5 minute drive away with plenty of places to eat.
