Very friendly staff who were helpful. Great location and plenty of parking. The room was a good size with a nice modern bathroom. The beer garden was a bonus as it was a very hot weekend.
The buffet breakfast was extensive but keeping cooked food warm isn’t the best. Coffee was incredibly strong and the tea a bit insipid. The exterior also needs some attention, lots of weeds. More parasols at the outside tables would be good. A wee big tired in places with some basic maintenance required e. g. In the corridor outside room1, there is a discoloured oatch on the ceiling, which just needs some paint.

It was the evening of the big storm, and the hotel suddenly found itself inundated with last minute bookings. They calmly and professionally dealt with the situation and welcomed us. We were meant to be staying an hour and a half away on a boat and couldn’t find alternative accommodation for hours before availability came up for this hotel. So, we didn’t choose to come here, but we’re glad we did. Highlight for us was one of the staff doing an impromptu karaoke night as the booked entertainment couldn’t make it because of the storm!! The rest of the staff did an excellent job in very challenging circumstances. The room was clean and had all amenities despite being a little dated. They had had a large function over the days before our stay so a lot of the social areas were not clean or tidy, but that was understandable as they were short staffed due to the storm. The bar was a comfortable area to sit in but very quickly crowded. Lots of board games and books available which is a lovely touch. Well presented main areas and again the staff were lovely.
The only thing that let the stay down was the food - it wasn’t great - but that may well have been to all the last minute bookings adding pressure to the kitchen. The hotel had the feel of catering to the elderly but if that’s their target market then fair enough.

The hotel is a lovely with classic feel in the interior and outside. The rooms were spacious and clean.the food was excellent and the bar was excellent. Although the selection of draughts beer and lagers are poor.the location of the hotel is perfect for a train. Station is only 100meters from hotel. The bus stop is right outside the hotel front entrance. Lastly the hotel staff were brilliant.
I have to say the entertainment was very poor particularly on the Friday night. The lady singing maybe had a nice voice. But singing slow ballad songs all night was terrible. There was people walking out the hall after only 5 minutes. There has to be better entertainment on especially when the hotel was busy. After all people are on holiday to enjoy and be upbeat and happy. Not to listen to slow sad music all night.

Beautiful old hotel, very slightly tired in places. Staff were excellent, particularly reception and bar staff that were working 5th - 7th of June. Reception were very welcoming and friendly while bar staff also friendly and dealt with a drunk aggressive man in the bar very professionally. Food was ok, but good options in Kingussie too. Highly recommend overall, staff are the highlight
Hotel is very very warm, even with room radiators turned off and windows open which was quite uncomfortable as they have no fans to give out Food average

loved the older worldie charm been 30 years since I was last here - comfy bed room 566 - lovely big walk in shower - all we needed - nice friendly bar atmosphere & good selection - staff really helpful and friendly - no worries parking -
beautiful dining room BUT unless you were with the bus party you didn't get to eat in it you were put in the back area where the buffet breakfast was laid out - although you had what you needed the difference in the two areas was night and day such a shame it was like the gentry area and the staff area

Breakfast was ample. The hotel is quite spacious. Entertainment in the ballroom at night. Fellow playing and singing with his guitar. Friendly staff. Lots of free parking available behind the hotel. The bar in the basement is very nice. We had a good time. Most guests seem to have arrived on tour buses but the hotel is spacious enough to not feel crowded in the least bit. Our room was quite large.
Unfortunately, the hotel is ageing quite a bit. It could really be something if renovated. Especially the bathroom was just about holding things together.

Bedroom was lovely, recently refurbished. Very clean and serviced daily. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location of hotel was perfect for sight seeing and trips on the train and buses.
Disappointed with the breakfast choices. Very limited in the continental and cooked options. Ran out of some of the hot choices on 3 of days we were there. Quality of the food wasn't great either, the bread was basic and tasteless. Staff did their best but seemed to be understaffed for the amount of people to cater for.

I loved how spacious the room was and my request for a a double bed was exceeded when given a bed that was like a super king. Receptionist was so helpful and welcoming when we arrived couldn’t ask for better service she was excellent. Dinner was great aswell, Great location as well with a local shop 2 mins away
The floors all over the property creaked, could have been more options at breakfast as I’m not a full English kind of person.

Great hotel In the heart of the highlands, used for a hillwalking trip and sightseeing.
This was a fine example of Scottish hospitality, wonderful location and friendly staff. Up and away early so missed breakfast which was unfortunate. The following day there was a fire alarm so can't really comment! However the restaurant and bar food and service was excellent ! Good selection of everything local!

I have stayed here in the past on my business trip when needing to start in the area next day. I asked for a room on ground floor and this was made available. Spacious with comfortable bed, two chairs, table and desk. tea facilities in the room. Bathroom was large, with large bath and shower. Breakfast was good, Buffet style, but a very wide choice. Will use again when in this area.
Nothing springs to mind!
