This was our third stay at Columba House and will not be our last. We have had different rooms each time, and each stay has just been as nice as the last. The hosts reply very quickly when messaged, self check in makes life so much easier, the grab and go breakfast is perfect as we are hill walkers and are always out early, all in all, another lovely stay at Columba House! The room was a lovely size, and the tv was a smart tv, so we had the options to use apps such as Netflix, amazon, 4, and much more. The room was very clean and, as always, plenty of parking and a lovely quiet area the house is in. Aviemore isn't too far away, so food options are not a problem as some places do close earlier in Kingussie. The co-op isn't far and opens later, so very handy should you need any drinks or snacks!

We stayed in apartment 12 , big room with plenty seating , massive bed and a small kitchenette with a microwave and kettle. the bathroom was large too , it had a massive deep fill tub plenty room for 2 people and an option to have a shower ( the shower door was sticky as it looked like the runners had deteriorated over time

The Mattress , nothing wrong with it if you are used to a normal mattress , i need a memory foam one for my back so not really a grumble. also the main door had another door to the right as we went in leading to what appeared to be the dining room ( which was closed ) it was a glass door and was locked from the other side ( key in the door ) in my opinion it should be blocked off with wood , hated the thought of anyone ( i doubt they would have ) opening it and getting access to us at night . Tv was a bit small but cant grumble as it was a smart tv. The road upto the property was all unever , a lower clearing car like mine could have bottomed out and damaged the engine , drive with care!

It’s a nice stay near Aviemore area if you are by car and the value for money is really good! They provide free coffee and tea and have an communal area too which is well kept and has charm. The bathroom was well built and the toilet was separate. I had to applaud the practical interior design. It’s definitely a nice property if you don’t like interacting with people.

It’s a bit eerie at night, especially the communal area and reception (weird noises and sudden voices when we were trying to play cards). There are questionable doors that were locked in our room and removable plates on the ceiling that leads to the attic (we assumed). All this made the night a bit scary if you’re alone. I advice not to wander around at night and to not have ghost stories, unless that’s what you’re seeking.

The location of the hotel is great for easy access to high street and walks. The room was large, with a comfy big double bed and good pillows. Wet room was also a good size. Nice touch with bottled water and welcome sweets. Check in was also easy using the digital key box. Staff responded to messages quickly and I even got a message after the first night to check whether everything was OK. Would be great to see the main part of the building in use as the garden is lovely. Huge bonus that the accommodation is dog friendly and quiet.

We liked everything, nothing would stop us returning but small suggestions would include a squeegee for the wet room floor for after showering, a little WD40 on the bedroom door and I think the kettle was a tad leaky but still worked perfectly.

Location was great, both to drive to and also relative to the town of Kingussie - literally a 10 minute walk to the town center. Free pastries and some breakfast items were included in the morning despite no cooking/restaurant facilities on site.

Bathroom looked like I could do with a wee bit of an overhaul, and some of the wallpaper was peeling behind the radiator. There were no staff on site, the keys were instead managed by an automatic system. This wasn't working when I arrived, but I was able to get in touch with someone over the phone to quickly resolve the issues.

Stayed in the Penthouse...location of Columba House was excellent for discovering Kingussie. We were impressed with the clear communication in regards checking-in...the hosts provided clear instruction on the day of arrival. Couldn't ask for more. The room itself was huge...clean..comfy bed....everything we could need and plenty hot water... We enjoyed the free breakfast which included a coffee machine ... great addition!! Would recommend the Penthouse room to anyone...Great stay for the price!!

For the price...we were delighted with everything..

Picturesque location within 10 minutes walk of train station & local shops. Ideal base for exploring Cairngorms & Aviemore. Quiet at night. Cozy room. Tasteful décor in main building. Effective heating. Smart TV in room. Shared bathroom serves purpose & water is hot. Housekeeper courteous. Good value compared with other accommodation locally. Quality coffee machine & juices. Basic continental breakfast included. Microwave. Strong signal, free WiFi. Polite staff communicating via text messages. Non intrusive. Housekeeping to a good standard; not easy to keep floors clean with a very wet muddy access road. Overall, worthy of praise and 9/10 at the price point. I would recommend as an A9 stopover or budget base for a few days in Speyside/southern Highlands/an hour from Inverness/Perth. I would stay here again.

Minor issues that I'll mention but wouldn't put me off returning: The self check-in procedure is relatively straightforward if it works as it should with Keysafe code sent by email but it's exasperating if there's a problem and then frustrations are compounded by the reception telephone not working. Having to ring a landline number to speak to someone. It's not the best first impression. Squeaky floor, Room 2B.

Location of hotel was quiet with scenic outlook to the rear of property. Lovely room with views and ensuite bathroom with underfloor heating. Well placed for walking into the peacefullness of the surrounding hills and well away from the busy walks and hikes of the Avimore vicinity. We stayed 5 nights and loved it. Will return at some point, with our own bowls, cutlery and sugar.

Continental breakfast a little hit or miss. On one occasion no bowls were available for the morning cereal. Another occasion there was no cutlery or sugar. Just little things, but getting these right makes all the difference to the start of someone's day.

Everything about this delightful accommodation was perfect, we stayed in the standard twin room which was in a separate building with private entrance, it was spacious, very clean and comfortable, the shower was excellent with plenty of hot water. There is a breakfast room when there is a choice of cerials, breakfast bars and pastries and a coffee machine for your use and juice and milk in the fridge, for you to use which is included in the price . There is plenty to room to sit and relax in this quiet rooms with a lovely garden too, the accommodation is a ten minute walk from the station and a high street where is a co - op supermarket, a coffee shop, and places to eat , the surrounding countryside has plenty of beautiful walks to explore The self check in and check out is easy to use , WiFi excellent Well recommended for your stay in Kingussie

There was nothing not to like about this lovely bedsit called "the penthouse". I expect once the renovations are done to the hotel, it will be even better ie to be able to eat and have a few drinks. However, it was only a short walk into the main street and the lovely Duke of Gordon Hotel. The bathroom was big and had plenty of space, the bath was huge, although we didn't have the opportunity to use it. The little kitchenette was enough to heat up food and make a cuppa. The windows in the roof were fabulous, even though the sun goes down so late now, it was wonderful to lay in bed and watch the sky. The furnishings were great and there was enough of everything. It was so quiet overnight and Kingussie had a wonderful feel about it. Would definitely recommend and wish we had the opportunity to stay longer than one night.

The track down to the road could be a little challenging, but at this time of the year with plenty of light it was okay. There is still a bit to do with the grounds to make them look a bit more presentable but suspect that will all occur with a bit more time.
