A friendly warm welcome on arrival, with a genuine smile. That was a good start after a long car journey. The lady who showed us to our rooms was warm, welcoming and approachable, she made us feel right at home and was laughing with us. Yes the hotel is a little in need of some TLC on the outside, but dont let this put you off.. on the inside lies a jewel! Highly affordable rooms, extremely clean and well thought out. With a restaurant and bar attached. What we liked: * friendly and welcoming staff * good attention to cleanliness ( we even saw the kitchen through a window in a door) * a great choice of food and all cooked to order, with the most amazing curries and fresh fish. * beds were extremely comfortable * despite being by a road, it was so quiet at night. * although the Oxgang doesnt supply breakfast, the asda approx 1/2 mile down the road does until 12noon and a full cooked breakfast cost very little and i highly recommend it, the hostess at the hotel gave me this as an option, this worked well.
There wasnt much to not like, as it was a budget price that we paid so it is hard to say.. This would be more things to mention which would add the cherry on the top.. * the meals could be a couple of pounds more, many wouldnt notice, but it may allow for the TLC which is needed. * i have no idea how, but possibly alarm clocks, as if a person has no phone its hard to wake up on time. In all honesty, i cant say anything bad about the place, it has obviously been hit hard by covid crisis and then the issues in Grangemouth, but this place really deaerves to bloom again.. it is currently a little in need of a bit of repair, updating and paint, but that is wi dow dressing, as the heart of this place is kind and warm, i hope they prosper in the future

The restaurant food is lush! Highly recommended it, good price and amazing quality. It was quiet night sleep every night which was great. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and respectful. Access to the hotel was easy & secure. Good free parking, always able to get a space. We stayed for three nights. Good local amenities, asda, corner shop and other places to eat. The outdoor area waa clean & so was the restaurant and bar, this exceeded my expectations. I was able to get a hot drink & soft drinks throught the day until late evening. The room was good, wifi had a good connection. Shower had plenty of hot water.
The mattress was uncomfortable & the room could have been cleaner. There are cobwebs up the walls, in the bathroom under the sink and I don't think the carpet was hoovered. A bath matt would be a good touch.

Lovely room, very comfortable and clean. Lovely hot shower. Excellent WiFi and great staff. Excellent Indian restaurant. I had the lamb rogan josh and it was delicious, very tender lamb and excellent staff. Also the bar is very good. A nice relaxed local and reasonably priced..
The floor boards were a bit creaky, I had to have an early night but I could hear the other guests coming up the stairs and there was a light left on outside my room door. Also I had to boil the kettle on the bedside table as that was where the only available socket was. But despite this I would still recommend this place.

Easy to find, room was okay size and location was ideal although if your room is at the front of the hotel it can be a little loud as you're facing the main road. Good price for what was offered, the shower was nice and warm and bathroom good size. Good customer service, I only stayed two nights and cleaner came in on the first night to replenish toiletries.
The bed was not comfortable and the doors in and out of the hotel are loud when people don't close them quietly. I was out very early on a morning so made an effort to close them softly but not everyone did this. Car park is not great, very narrow on entry and exit and lots of potholes be careful in the dark. I had to use the exit as an entrance as someone had parked not on the edge so was blocking the entrance way in.

The staff were very friendly. I was upgraded to a bigger room as the single room I booked was under maintenance. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel has its own restaurant.
It's not the best location if you plan to visit Edinburgh often on your trip but it's great for the areas around it. Bus transportation in this area is a bit on the expensive side. Unfortunately I could loudly hear the goings and comings of the room next door and all their conversations.

The hotel was perfect for my needs as a stopover on a drive to the Highlands. The staff were lovely, the room was as described and it was clean and - even though the pub was nice and busy and I was on the front of the building, the room was beautifully quiet! Being here also meant I did a quick, evening visit to the see the Kelpies (giant statue) which was well worth it.

Upgraded room which meant I was on the ground floor and suited me better with having an elderly dog. Decent size room and comfortable. There was a huge park at the end of the road great for exercising the dog. Nice meal in the bar next door.
No hot water until 7am for some reason meaning I couldn't shower and leave as early as I'd intended. Might have been mentioned somewhere on the site, but couldn't find information on charge for the dog. It was £10 which I think is excessive for one night and before "deep cleaning" is mentioned, I frequently stay in hotels etc with her and not once have I been charged as much, or at all. All rooms should be deep cleaned regardless. Oh, and the bedside light was so dim I couldn't read....

Very nice friendly staff. We had a meal in the restaurant which was really good. Room was very big and clean and comfortable. Can't complain at all. Walking distance from a park and leisure centre and bus stop into Falkirk for trains to Edinburgh.
Buses were not very frequent and very confusing timetable and had to catch taxis to Falkirk to get the train to Edinburgh so location was a problem at times but allowing lots of time was fine.

The location is great for early morning flight from Edinburgh International, especially if you have a rental car to drop off: - Off street parking - Close to Asda petrol station - 25-minute drive to airport The room with a private shower / bathroom was spacious. The bed was comfy. The pub next door was an added bonus.
You have to bring your own shampoos and conditioner. Only body wash was provided. No glasses in the room, but there are small mugs for coffee and tea.

I'd booked a single room for 1 night (room no. 4) as the location and price suited me. Only Waited a minute or so to be checked in & shown to my room by the manager despite the restaurant being very busy. Room was ideal for me needs: bed was comfy, ensuite shower room was a good size with spacious shower & good water pressure. Would be a 10/10 rating but I could hear the bar / lounge.
Only minor issue was I could hear bar / lounge, but it is a restaurant with rooms, as opposed to a hotel. Would book again if circumstances required.
