The hotel preserved its historic heritage and I really felt set back into more glamorous times without all the menaces of the 2020s. The breakfast and dinner is excellent. So is the staff at the restaurant and bar and their manager. The spa area with pool bar, heated pools and a spacious hot pool/tub is amazing. Location right next to the cable car up to Hrebienok couldn't be better.

Im contrast to the nice staff at the restaurant and housekeeping, the personnel at the reception desk can be called "reserved" at best. There was also one particular unfriendly and non helpful guy working at the reception, that ruined our first experience during arrival. Standard rooms are quite small. Some furniture is outdated. The hotel provided a mat for our dog that had numerous pee stains on it and never saw cleaning. A small hygenic scandal.

The hotel really lived up to it's 4 star standard with many facilities, large comfortable rooms etc. It made a nice change from apartments on our interrail trip. We had half board including buffet breakfast and dinner. The choices were great and the food quality good. I emailed 1 complaint to the hotel and the problem was fixed while we were out in the mountains. I accidentally left something in the room when we checked out. The staff managed to return it to me even after reletting the room. Very impressive.

The information on booking.com mentions the included cable car and waterpark tickets. These are only available if we had gopass cards, so we subscribed for them. Cable cars were great but the water parks were far too far away for us to use. Pity as the hotel pool was rather small and only open after 3pm.

We arrived at the hotel as a couple and our overall impression was excellent. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cozy, modern, and offered a beautiful view, which really contributed to a pleasant atmosphere during our stay. The beds were extremely comfortable, so we had a great rest. The breakfast was truly excellent — a wide selection of dishes, all very tasty and of high quality. We also really appreciated the wellness area, which was excellent, clean, and enjoyable. The only downside was the limited number of loungers by the pool, so it wasn’t always easy to find a place to relax. We would definitely be happy to return and can warmly recommend this hotel to other guests.

A small minus was also parking: we had to park under the hotel, where birds constantly circled above the parking area, so our car ended up quite dirty. However, these minor issues did not spoil our stay at all, as the hotel overall was truly high standard. We would definitely be happy to return and can warmly recommend this hotel to other guests.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the hotel. The room was clean and large, the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was great, a large selection of hot and cold dishes, and every morning there were some new dishes to choose from. The hotel is excellently situated, just a few minutes from the electric railway stop. All the hotel staff were very friendly and professional. We were there during the International Women's Day and all the women were given a flower. It was very nice. The wellness area is big, there is a swimming pool, but not suitable for swimming. The water and air temperature is high. There are also several saunas, a small pool with cold water, there is also a bar. We will definitely return to this historic hotel.

The staff at the reception are brilliant, thank you! Restaurant staff is great, too. But as they don't speak English very well and yes, not everybody need to speak other language, but at least the management should think of printing an English menu for the dinner at half-board, especially when they clearly can see there will be guests from foreign country, too and/or at least to learn to translate that daily menu! I would expect it from a big international hotel.. Bathroom shower is very small (even if the bathroom itself is huge) and not totally clean. Beautiful building with beautiful interior, great location, great wellness section. Room temperature was way tooo hooot..

The bathroom is not well designed, is worn out a bit, and would definitely do with a face lift. The shower head is mounted in a way you flood the bathroom, and the glass shower curtain is fitted in a way it is far from the shower head. The whole bathroom looks sterile, not in par with the style of the room and the rest of the hotel. The bathroom lets the room down. Parking charges differ largely based on where and how you book your stay. They are not fixed. Quite frankly, it is petty they are not included as part of the stay at the rates the hotel charges.

Excellent location, excellent view, excellent breakfast, very-well maintained 120-year old hotel building just at the Tatry mountain, in the forest, close to the railway station of the Tatra electric railway.

The staff is very firendly, Laura and most of the receptionist are very friendly and polite, helpful and open. There was one "serious exception", the only reason that this time is had to decrease my maximal 100 % points: Ladislav, recetionist evening 20th July is the opposite. Slow, unfriendly, non-informative and impolite. I am, and I will still remain your regular guest, I consider Ladislav as my only bad experience since 1999. Grand Hotel Stary Smokovec is still great ! I found the staff particularly polite and helpful. The waiter service was particularly good especially when I was choosing from the menu. Laura at reception was excellent is showing us some of the hikes we could try and helped us when we had any difficulties with administration. It was much appreciated. Her English was outstanding.

Although we paid for hotel parking, on 2 occasions there was no car parking spaces in the hotel so we had to park in a public car park with cost us 30 euros. I think the hotel needs to address this situation.

Peaceful location in a rather busy resort, nicely designed comfortable rooms, beautifully designed wellness centre with several types of saunas and massages. A nice bar terrace with a view as well as many seating areas, with a grand piano in the inside bar area.

Breakfast and dinner is served in elegant dining areas and good effort is made to offer Slovak dishes. In the dinner bufet I found the deserts disappointing. I appreciated a good selection of oils and in the salad bufet. Freshly made pancakes with a choice of filling and semolina pudding are a nice choice, however for a hotel of this standard more home made and regional products in the bread and cake line should be included. Particularly the bread was rather poor, mainly mass produced dry rolls. In general more promotion of typical regional products would be desirable.

We loved everything about our stay in Grand hotel Stary Smokovec. It was not our first time there, but it was the first time with our toddler and she had the absolute best time! The staff was super kind and helped us with everything we needed. They also made special arrangement regarding our room - extra bed for no fee and bathrobe and cute slippers for our little one. The hotel is simply beautiful and has great amenities - The spa and wellness is very clean, well organised and super pleasant. Children can play in huge kids room close to the bar so the parents can enjoy coffee, drinks and even food while watching their children having great time. The restaurant was awesome - tasty food and many many options for breakfast, lunch and amazing a la carte dinner. Even special request of our daughter for a glass of milk in the evening was fulfilled! The hotel staff is a team of great professionals. The fact that there is private parking right in front of the hotel and the location of this hotel being in the center of Stary Smokovec is obviously a huge +. You can choose from variety of rooms, we had a junior suite and it was very spacious and quiet with a view from one side on Lomnicky stit and from the other on the sunrise above Poprad. We will definitely come back again!
