We had luke warm water one day and the next morning it was cold. As they had a sign up saying they were eco friendly and used solar power we assumed it was that( as it was not sunny) but apparently it wasn’t and we should have mentioned it early? The owners seemed rather colonial and had a superior attitude The room was rather dark and view limited The journey to and from the main road was very uneven and uncomfortable to drive The journey to the Scotia game drive was very long and down very bumpy roads- beware if you have back problems. Rather expensive with all the extras

We loved our stay at the Hitgeheim Country lodge! First and foremost, what made our stay exceptional was the staff - thanks again to them for being so friendly, helpful as well as experienced to make our stay truly special. Second, the views from the Lodge are just stunning. We were lucky enough to get to the hotel in February and got a free upgrade on our room, so we ended up in the Family Suite with Private pool - absolutely unreal to sit in the pool and have the view over the valley. Finally, we also booked the safari through the lodge, and it really didn't disappoint! A friend told us he did a self drive 3 days in a row and only got to see elephants out of the big 5, but we managed to see two lions and two buffalos on top of probably 50 elephants in our 4h drive in the park! Our driver / guide had binoculars for eyes and could spots animals in the distance in a very impressive way, so we are very happy we did the safari with him instead of the self drive.

Unforgettable experience! The dream room, beautiful estate, exceptional food and service and unforgettable safari experiences in Addo and Schotia. We had one of the rooms that offer fantastic views, a lot of privacy and a private plunge pool. This was perfect for a couples vacation. Every evening, we had a delicious 4 course menu that was served very promptly. We could choose our wine from their cellar or order other drinks. Breakfast was very good and fulfilling as well. The airport transfer and safari organisations were all managed very well. Thank you to the owner and the staff - especially the chef!

The perfect location, close to Addo and Schotia as well as the coast but secluded enough for a very peaceful stay. Our room was spacious with the most incredible view. Dinner and breakfast were delicious as well. We did a Schotia game drive and Johannes, our Hitgeheim guide, was knowledgeable and very kind to us! The owner, Archie, made the time to introduce himself when we arrived as well as send us off on our last day with some very helpful information. Really great stay!

- Lodge itself is very nice and is located far away from any noise - Rooms are in large huts and offer everything (bathtub, outdoor shower, terrace, large and comfy bed) - The service is extraordinary (during dinner somebody prepares your room for the night, they even washed our car) - Nice pool and dining area - Breakfast and dinner (which we paid extra) are delicious

- This is a major point: Lodge could (and should) tell guests that they avoid to drive through Motherwell (a unsafe township on the way to Port Elizabeth) - Was by far the most expensive accommodation we had in South Africa (but the most comfortable one) - When they prepare the room for the night, they turn on every light (even when using solar, wasting energy is not very eco)

Beautiful location, amazing view, superbe restaurant and unforgettable staff! We came with our baby and they were so kind and helpful. Rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed is awesome. Very luxurious stay!

Everything was amazing, only thing that was a personal minor negative thing was the room is directly connected to the bathroom which has very large windows (very beautiful) and so the sunlight came in very early in the morning (room doesn’t get so dark).

The rooms were beautiful. Clean and housekeeping comes every day. The grounds are beautiful and it’s so peaceful. The location on a hilltop makes for stunning views. The food is delicious. They cater to you as guests in every aspect. They even turn your bed down prior to you going to sleep. The staff are friendly and personable. The games drives are excellent and the drivers, Saul and Johann are very knowledgeable.

Welcoming and friendly staff. Particularly Ryan who was a delight .Amazing view. Huge comfortable room with balcony overlooking the countryside. Large bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower and elegant bath. Great restaurant with wonderful food. 4 course dinner served in an elegant dining room. Brilliant wine cellar. You just enter the cellar and choose your own wine from a fantastic selection Lovely pool area. Several to choose from Highly recommend booking a game drive to Addo. We saw a herd of over 100 elephants The most incredible experience We had a wonderful time Thank you so much

Well done to Archie and his team (Wikus, Ryan, Edwin, Collen) apologies i did not get everyone's names. Everything :-) . Location superb. Staff well groomed, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Restaurant offerings are quality and well presented. Gardens are neat and well maintained. Spacious room with indoor outdoor shower including a bath and a plunge pool. Additional lookout areas on the property to enjoy the views. Overall spectacular experience.

We asked in advance for non-alcoholic ciders to be available as my wife is pregnant. However they did not have. Ryan managed to make my wife a passion fruit and lemonade and added some garnishes to make it look like a Cocktail. Thanks Ryan

Beautiful views, very peaceful. While driving to the lodge entrance gate you can see some kudus, lovely! The food was delicious, as a South African I especially loved the local food, I even had mielie meal porridge! The staff is exceptional, Ryan, Martha, and Colin were amazing, professional, welcoming, and friendly. We did the in-house Addo Safari, which was so worth it because we could see more game than we would on a short or self-drive. Sol did try to ensure we saw as many animals as possible. We loved our stay and are definitely coming back :)
