The airport transfer was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast provided great choices and good value. The dinner menu was varied and again costs of food and drinks were cheap. The rooms are a bit dated but all furnishings are comfortable and practical. The garden surrounding the property is truly fantastic with incredible bird life for any enthusiasts staying at Avant Garde Lodge.

No lunch available on the premises so any order had to be brought in which was confusing. Dinner orders had to be placed in advance though this did not inconvenience us.

I am grateful that the hotel arranged a lift from the airport at about 6:00 am allowed me to check in very early. On it's own that is worth 10 out of 10. The hotel also organised a tour for me that was brilliant. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast and dinner was fabulous. Excellent cooking and menu. The room was large and comfortable with a separate bathroom. They did everything I required to manage a short stay in Johannesburg.

I couldn't get the tv to work but that was no problem as internet was all I needed. The property is a bit isolated so you require transport to get you anywhere.

We chose this place because it was close to the airport and we had a plane to Cape Town early in the morning next day.  And it was absolutely the right choice. Just 10 minutes from the airport and you find yourself in a wonderful oasis. It's a pity that we were there in the winter, because in the summer, I think, it's incredibly beautiful there. Beautiful well-groomed territory, a comfortable cozy place to relax with a small pool and a place for a bonfire. Very friendly and caring owner who helped to burn the fire and it was a very nice moment.He gave us a delicious dinner. We spent the evening playing billiards. The room had everything you needed - a kettle and a refrigerator, water and coffee with tea. In the bathroom shampoo and soap. The beds were very comfortable, the blankets were warm. Air conditioning heated the room very quickly. Good  internet. Early in the morning the owner arranged a delicious and varied breakfast. The view from where dawn began was stunning. Highly recommend this wonderful lodge

Excellent in every aspect - I would recommend it without hesitation. Conveniently situated near the airport, but in a quiet location. Room was large, quiet and comfortable. The Lodge's lounge area with wood fire and honesty bar was extremely pleasant to relax in The dining is superb, for both breakfast and dinner. I have stayed there twice and look forward to returning next week. And the staff are all lovely.

I have been to many lodges and hotels , Avant Garde Lodge touched me , they are so generous with their food , Hospitality at this place is 10 Star , The workers at this place show love to people , The breakfast at this place will make wimpy look like 1 star, This place is surely a home away from home , They don't even charge for the pool table, Me and my family would like to say thank you and we will see you'll soon

The Accommodation was fantastic, Dinner and breakfast were as good as home cooked meals, the fire was nice, very professional staff. The location is great and easy to access, secure with a an enchanting garden.

Very attractive surroundings. Set among trees and seems very peaceful while still not far from airport. The driver sent from the hotel was there at the designated spot and is extremely friendly and helpful. Great food, both the dinner and buffet breakfast. Many choices on the buffet breakfast.

Low lighting in bathroom and not enough face towels and wash cloths.

we had a mis communication with our transport to our accommodation which was a bit unsettling but once sorted everything was fine. Our stay was great and the breakfast was fantastic

that i had made prior arrangements for supper as we had a late flight but this was not communicated to the chef, but he was brilliant and quickly made us some lovely food which went down well.

conveniently located near the airport. The rooms are quite spacious. The gardens are lovely. The meals were excellent and a great value. We loved hanging out in the lodge room before dinner. The staff was very helpful with arranging transport.

Close to the airport, but not much to do or see nearby. It was not conveniently located for exploring Johannesburg.

When I arrived I was quite tired from long flights so it was a pleasure to have a comfortable quiet room with plenty of tea and coffee to relax in for a few hours before going into the garden to enjoy a sun downer whilst gently rocking on the swing seat reading my book. Dinner was delicious and enjoyed outside after which I sat by the campfire watching the full moon rising whilst finishing my wine.

No complaints from me - I'll be back!
