It's a very comfortable stay.. the towels, bathroom, bed was so soft.. after a week in the bush... this is is a luxury! Pick up by Khumbu was on time and very efficient.. as we arrive late and hungry.. he was really kind to offer us a ride for a take away. He waited patiently for about 20 mins and didn't charge us extra for the detour. Really app

our stay is already 10/10...it would have been 200% perfect stay if the room was warmed when we arrived... And as previous reviews.. the sound of airplane... sometimes, we do notice it.. it didn't wake us up from our sleep at all though..

The room was beautiful. Some little broken spots here and there added to the old world charm without affecting the overall ability to use or enjoy the facilities. Bathroom fittings were new and tidy. Gardens are beautiful. Alfred was wonderful to deal with as was Dominique. Less than 15mins from the airport by car. Numerous restaurants close by to order delivery and Alfred kindly assisted in receiving the order. So much better than simply staying at a hotel chain.

The proximity to the airport does mean you get the odd plane flying over however it didn't bother me much as it wasn't very frequent.

The breakfast was exceptional; made to order with a lot of variety. The staff was very accommodating to my tastes. Alfred the manager is excellent, ready to help in any way possible. The deluxe room was large and very comfortable. the morning sunlight streamed into the room. Spacious bathroom as well. Lots of little touches such as comfy robes, slippers, toiletries. There is room service but it was better to dine in the sun room overlooking the lovely gardens. It was fun to see the children playing at the kindergarten that is on the premises. I was there in early Spring so vegetation was still sparse, however, there was still greenery and lots of birds. be aware that planes fly overhead occasionally because of the nearness to the airport but it's soothing rather than disruptive if you like planes.

There aren't any restaurants around and nothing in walking distance. the property is self contained but only serves breakfast. you can plan ahead and make yourself a sandwich at breakfast. There is a car service available to take you to nearby restaurants or getting an Uber is somewhat easy. There is a Sunday lunch on the property that is very very good. You have to make a reservation. If you are traveling solo, ask for a double rather than a single table for more room away from the kitchen. The dinky single table is no fun but funny. Book for 1:30/2pm for better availability. Alfred is happy to help with any trip and excursions for food or to visit the sites. Since everything else is ideal I found that this was all a small inconvenience.

What a wonderful castle like place. The wooden stair case is beautiful, the decorations fit the manor perfectly. The staff and owners are equally friendly and helpful, even beyond expectations. Breakfast was precisely what we would have wished for. It was 5C when we arrived and the heaters had already been turned on. So welcoming. The shuttle service was very much appreciated. The beds were comfortable, the curtains were very good, everything was clean and well maintained. Just perfect.

The loud airplanes that we had just used ourselves, so we have no right to complain really, especially since it’s such a short ride.

The room was lovely and had a coffee maker with capsules, and a fridge. The bath was super comfortable and the shower was great too. The staff were so helpful! It is pretty close to the airport so it's handy for flights. The only thing is that if you don't have a car, it can be a challenge to get around because Uber doesn't work very well in this area. You might have better luck with other rideshare apps though. Overall great stay and very relaxing.. Gorgeous grounds!

We did not like the fan in the bathroom that was motion detected. It came on all the time even if you just walked by the bathroom. And just a bit challenging to get around, if you don't have a car.

Our stay at Schoon Huis Manor was absolutely perfect! Alfred, who helped us during our stay, was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made us feel very welcome. The manor itself is so lovely and beautifully kept, with such a peaceful atmosphere. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was served right on time and was delicious. Everything about this place exceeded our expectations – highly recommended!

We have stayed at this property several times. It's a great place to stay for picking up and dropping off visitors at OR Tambo. We like the unique nature of the decor and the grounds. The staff were very helpful and attentive, even offering us better rooms so we didn't have to negotiate stairs with our dogs. Oh, yes. It's pet friendly!

This is not the fault of the property, but if you can't stand airport noise, then this is probably not a good choice for you. It is close to OR Tambo and you will hear a lot of planes overhead.

Special place with unique decor. Every room is different. I love the way roof done and all areas surrounding the manor. Everything is looked after. We have been looking after by Alfi, who was amazing! It was nothing too much to ask, very polite and humble person. Thank you for marking our 1st stay in South Africa special. I heard that they serve an amazing lunch on Sundays, so if you are there on the day worth to try. Unfortunately we have missed it. (We stay in room called Dany)

Such an unusual find and a comfortable stay. The house is an exquisite collection of memories, art, books, architectural quirks and definitely has a soul. The choice was made literally one hour prior to arrival at the house, and it was amazing how quickly the staff reacted to the requests and was overall very very helpful. The breakfast (not included) was amazing, freshly cooked of finest ingredients. The walk around the immense property was quite enjoyable, I got to see the cats and the wedding which was about to happen, as that is a popular wedding location, too. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with finest Charlotte Rhys amenities in the room. Being woken up by the birds is also a precious experience in the morning, as the house stands amongst a wonderful garden. Would love to come back there, definitely a great stay when an early morning flight is in your plans.

An unbelievable place! Beautiful, clean and very comfortable. It was a breathe of fresh air for us as a family between appointments and a hectic schedule. Ryan was an incredible host: from the moment we arrived, through our stay, at breakfast, until checkout. We have never experienced such great service and attentiveness at a guesthouse. We didn’t feel like guests because we were treated like family. Breakfast was out of this world! So tasty, beautifully presented with generous portions.

Minor things - and it didn’t change my mind that this guesthouse deserves a 10 score - 2 sets of towels in the room would be great. We had a bath-sheet, bath towel and hand towel to share between 2 people. I would suggest a bath-sheet for each guest and extra bath towels in the bathroom. Especially in winter time a bath towel is just not enough - and even more so when washing long hair. In the morning there wasn’t enough hot water. Between the 3 of us, one had a 5 minute hot shower, the next one a luke warm to cold shower and the 3rd one a freezing shower. I suggest a larger geyser. Luckily I had a very hot shower in the evening so I know your geysers work perfectly, it was just not fun washing hair with cold water in the morning xx All in all, still a wonderful experience.
