Good value for money. At the up-market end of accommodation. The suites had very good facilities. Plenty of facilities on-site, including large gym, swimming pools: one of which was adults only, room service, pleasant gardens and surrounds. Nice views over gardens and golf course.

Occasional bits of garbage where there shouldn't be, like food packaging and drinking straws in the little connecting waterways. A couple of staff were dropping extremely heavy hints for tips towards the end of the stay: never a good look.

I have been keep coming back to this hotel time and time again,the penthouse is really home away from home and service was excellent

I normally score 10 but this time i was unable to bid to upgrade my room as they link was not working and communication on booking.com they were not replying effectively,for repeat clients we really appreciate upgrades now and then

The penthouse we booked exceeded our expectations. The staff were pleasant and always willing to help. Breakfast was excellent and more options than expected.

It would have been good if ALL penthouses and rooms had door bells. The number of times other family guests could not be heard knocking when we were in the front room or on the terrace upstairs. A full length mirror in the wardrobe doors would be great PLUS bedside lamp that are isolated from other bright lightings. These are ALL minor things and did not dampen our stay in anyway. Just things that could improve experiences and noted because we were a wedding group of around 60 in the same hotel.

The facilities and staff were excellent.

Things fill up quickly, so guests need to book spa appointments well ahead of time. The hotel staff weren’t able to book golf-related activities from the hotel for me. Guests instead need to walk to the golf course and sort out a booking individually and when I attempted to do so, I was told that the golf course was restricted for the entire day I requested to their club members only. Being able to easily book and use the advertised facilities from the hotel as a guest would undoubtedly elevate the experience. One additional way to improve the experience would be to make it easier to get the dim night lights off. I ended up just pulling my key out for the night, which then means I can’t control the temperature throughout the night.

The service was exceptional/ incredible. Well done to management and extended staff. Pleasant, accommodating and polite staff. Definitely committed to their slogan ‘Home away from Home’. Well done. Solution driven mindset. We were happy with our King size room. Thank you.

Five star accommodations with extensive spa. The room was luxurious with extra touches like the sliding door between the bedroom and the huge soaking tub. Visited in winter so did not go in the outside pool, but did use the spa services which were wonderful and very affordable. The breakfast was extensive. Ate dinner at the Sky Bar one night and the food was beautifully prepared. Minor issues with the room were addressed right away (toilet was running - turns out that I just needed to jiggle the push button). Felt like a princess with free slippers and turn down service.

Minor things like the sheets were not the softest. I wore a robe over my bathing suit to the outdoor restaurant near the pool which was a no-no.

We had a wonderful stay at The Houghton Hotel during our trip to South Africa. The hotel is incredibly modern and stylish, with very spacious rooms. The bed was exceptionally comfortable—exactly what we needed after a long flight. One of the highlights was the breakfast, very tasty and lots of options. The staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay, and we were especially grateful that they accommodated a very early check-in so we could rest right away. Although we didn’t get a chance to use the hotel’s amenities, we did take a look around and everything—from the pool area to the wellness facilities—looked top-notch and beautifully maintained. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, upscale base in Johannesburg.

We had a great time at The Houghton - the hotel is lovely, the grounds are very pretty and well designed and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We went to the spa and had some of the best massages ever, we used the fitness studio and the heated pool. Breakfast was excellent. What more could you want?

The decor of the roooms could be slightly trendier and where our room was, above the restaurant, we could hear noise through the closed windows until the outside area was closed (promptly at 11pm!). It is a massive hotel which sometimes doesn't feel so cozy but it makes up for it with lots of nooks and a well designed garden.

Spa Restaurant Service is great everywhere - probably the best hotel staff I’ve ever across - great team work and always there and available. Studio apartments are better if you like a separate and private bathroom ( As opposed to main hour where everything is right in front of you, bath, shower and even toilet door. Nice for ambience ans when alone but disturbing at night if you have turn lights on to use bathroom and with partner…or just prefer a bit of privacy and space to use the bathroom…although you can slide the glass somewhat) Clean and ambience everywhere.

Studio Apartments don’t have all the DSTV channels (Bro Cosmas - Tech guy - went out of his way to secure a temporary hotel room from the main hotel section for me to watch F1 live. As there was no 215 channel). Sound proofing not good on the street side. Can hear all the cars and motorbikes. Extras seals or rubber or firmer closing of windows could definitely help.

Room looked exactly like advertised. We were met swiftly with a porter to take our luggage to reception and to our room. He also offered me a rose (nice touch) and explained all the switches of the room. Breakfast was more then sufficient and staff all around was very friendly The Glass doors to close off the bath looked super cool

Seems that our air conditioner did not work as we could not cool the room. The frame of the bed showed wear and tear and management might like to look at replacing them. The Bistro could have offered the option of a Beef Filet which was not on offer - not everyone enjoys a 7-course fine dining at the evening.
