Nice spacious Suite with good appliances, Great Bed and hot water. it is a very quiet place. It's in a great neighbourhood with lots of shops and restaurants which are recently priced. I felt safe going out at night. Rosie was very pleasant and helpful.

While the WiFi was excellent in my room, it did not exist three meters outside of my room. I was there in the month of July, South Africa's winter, and like every other room in this category there is no heating and it is very cold. However, I did ask for a heater, which was immediately forthcoming, and this made a big difference. It's important to emphasise that this is a universally common problem.

Fantastic location - it's great to stay somewhere where you can walk straight out onto a street lined with shops, cafes and restaurants (where normally in Johannesburg it is not safe to do so). The place was very clean and friendly.

It's not that I didn't like this, but it would have just been good to know in advance that the room I was staying in was part of the owner's house - you walk through their sitting room to go to the room I booked. It wasn't a problem in this case as the owner and his son are very friendly and nice, but I think it might just be worth mentioning it when the room is booked (as some might be looking for more privacy and you can hear absolutely every word from a person or the TV through the door). I believe all the other rooms/suites are outside and have a separate entrance, only the one I stayed in is inside the house.

I liked the bathtub, the clean towels and the microwave place. I also liked the closet. The mats on the floor were comfortable as well. I also like that they allowed loud noise levels. I also liked that the streets are super safe even at night.

I didn't like the TV channels, the small soap, and also that I had to pay extra for a heater whereas in other places I didn't pay extra for it. I also didn't like the head rest cushions as they were too tender and soft for my comfort. I woke up with a sore neck because of that. Too many mirrors in the room, I felt under surveillance.

It was the best experience I had at Charlie's Spot. It's indeed a home away from home. The Spot is very serene and relaxing. I stepped in and felt instantly calm and at home. I was welcomed by a gracious and kind Mama Charles who went on to make me feel at home with a 🍺 of coffee, despite my early check-in time. The family even invited me to their Christmas lunch party where l enjoyed 😋 meal coupled with all types of delicious treats. I enjoyed immensely, thank you very much. We topped off with a card games which Mama helped me cheat several times... 🤣🤣. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a lot of quiet and serenity. I would give an 11% for cleanliness courtesy of Mama Charlie and Mama Annah . Facilities like fridge, stove and many other amenities are provided for. All kinds of shops from super markets, eateries, ATMs, boutiques are stone throw away. Meaning you walk 2 mins and you are there. I absolutely recommend it to my friends and l will also be a repeat visitor. Thank you Charlie and family.

Charlie's Spot - Norwood is in a very quiet location, perfect for if you're looking for a spot to unwind and relax. Everything you need is within a one block walk of the house, and you can easily taxi anywhere else you need to go.

It wasn't an issue for me (and I believe is mentioned in the listing), but keep in mind there's only a bathtub — no shower! So if a shower is a necessity for you, do not book this place.

I had a fantastic experience. The hosts were incredibly kind, always available, attentive, and full of great advice. I couldn't have hoped for a better welcome upon arriving in this new country—their warmth, helpfulness, and thoughtful recommendations truly made a difference. Such genuine hospitality is rare. Thank you for all the kind gestures and positive energy!

I have stayed at both Charlies Spot and Gardens several times and it is always up to expectations .They do not do breakfast but you get what you pay for and it is close to many restaurants and shopping centres the property is clean and has all the amenitiies for a short stay it is very good value for money
