We stayed in the luxury tents along the river which were very comfortable. We had heaters and electric blankets for the cold and we were very comfortable. The staff checking us in were amazing. The only let down was dinner, it took forever to get our food. We were treated like 2nd class citizens because we didn’t book a table even though we did say we would be coming for dinner when we checked in. We were put into a tiny corner and kinda forgotten about. The food was disappointing and we kept having to go find the waitress when we wanted anything. Because of this, we decided not to try their breakfast as we couldn’t afford to leave later than planned as we had time restraints for other activities that we had booked in Oudtshoorn.

The restaurant was a let down and dampened our stay.

Extremely child friendly - we fed and interacted with rabbits, turkeys, geese, ostrich, there was a swimming pool, a playground with trampoline on site. Every vegetarian meal (there were many veg options) we had at the restaurant was exceptional: delicious, with hearty portions and felt home made. Breakfast was a generous buffet spread. The air conditioner in the tent was much appreciated. The welcome feathers and note made a lovely memento to take home.

The beds and bedding in the tent were in need of some TLC. The blanket smelled. The beds were sagging and uncomfortable and duvet inner was lumpy. The lighting in the tent was poor. The lighting at the restaurant could also do with some upscaling - the food is incredible and the lighting could be better to showcase it (and the original old mill, which was a bit hidden).

The location and venue were lovely. The restaurant was quaint and the staff were friendly. The breakfast was ok. The room was clean, and well stocked (except for lacking a wine bottle opener). The views were lovely and hearing the sounds of the animals nearby was very relaxing.

The breakfast lacked a little love and imagination. For 4 days, nothing changed. Everything was fine, but with just a little imagination, it could have been so much better. Instead of just fried eggs, why not offer scrambled, or boiled? The same ingredients that make the flapjacks served every day, could be used to make pancakes, muffins and more. Offering some sort of vegetable would have been great: Mushrooms can't be overcooked, and leftovers can be used by the restaurant in any number of ways - same for fried tomatoes. The breakfast was fine. But with just a bit of thought it could be outstanding.

Well-run lodge. Rooms are well appointed. Very clean and tidy. Gardens seem to be well maintained. a very good Breakfast included. lodge is well situated near the cango caves and will also be a great place from where to explore the area. Property has some very nice water features and mountainous terrain which adds to the charm.

No complains, rather just a few recommendations: additional mirrors and lighting to cater for those guests that need a bit more time/effort with hair.. The breakfast room seemed to be geared to serving groups of guests, rather than catering for individual needs, which should generally not be a problem for most- but as I prefer freshly prepared food that is served hot, having the option to request chef/kitchen staff to prepare mine the way i like could only improve the overall breakfast experience.

Everything was excellent. Beautiful location. Lovely room. Breakfast a bit pricey but a good selection.

The main restaurant was shocking. Overpriced. Teeny portions and the Eland steak arrived tough, stringy and utterly non-consumable. The carpaccio portions were a joke and the ostrich meat served with the Jalepenos were 2 tiny pieces and dried out. Although the manager exchanged the Eland for a burger (which the sauce was way to sweet), my bill for two people were almost a R1000. Not worth it at all! As a matter of fact, the restaurant should have refunded me. Very very disappointing. The rest of our stay we had dinner in Oudtshoorn.

We loved how the facilities managed the heat very well with the Air conditioning and great water pressure in the shower. The cleaners kept everything nice and tidy in the room which was a large space with good large beds also the pool was very close to our room. The animals were easily accessible and clearly well looked after as well as the staff - in particular Anika and George were helpful and friendly.

The bathrooms needed more places to put towels, with no hooks on the walls and only one room having a rack for them. Sometimes we didn’t receive the filtered water and we had to ask multiple times for baby items - cot and high chair - before we received them.

Our Luxury tent no 8 exceeded our expectations! Nestled between majestic mountains, our tent felt both secluded and remote, home to trees, birds and shy buck grazing peacefully nearby.This unique experience feels both rustic and indulgent. Surrounded by nature and the soothing sounds of the river, the tent is equipped with all the comforts of home, ensuring a cozy and relaxing stay. Breakfast is a highlight, featuring a delicious buffet spread and the outdoor shower is a treat. The staff are courteous and helpful

The only downside is the sketchy wifi, which can be a challenge if you are looking to stay connected.

The farm is in an attractive location. The little cabins are comfortable and have nice balconies overlooking the dam. The restaurant on site is a plus as it is rather in the middle of nowhere and the food is not bad.

The breakfast could do with improvement. Very little fresh fruit and everything left in a bain marie which means that the eggs are overcooked and the bacon is dripping in condensation. Having a shower in the middle of the cabin is a little strange and the curtains are not big enough to cover the windows. We booked last minute with a hefty discount but I would have been unhappy had I paid the full price stated.

I loved everything. We were in a luxurious glamping tent slightly up the mountain so the view was glorious! It was so quiet and peaceful with an outdoor shower plus a shower/ bath inside. The restaurant was amazing with an open deck on the river, excellent service and delicious food. There are little ponies, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs and of course ostriches - wonderful for children! Below our tent tbere were a group of deer grazing. There is a choice of swimming pools all beautifully clean and the gardens are sublime with lovely grasses areas and shady trees. I would go back in a heartbeat!

There was nothing I did not like.

What a unique and wonderful experience. This is a functioning ostrich farm, so there are ostriches and other animals all around which is great fun. You can even buy some food pouches to feed them if you are feeling brave! The room was big, clean and comfortable, and very good value for money! We were able to drive right up to the cabin front door and park there which was great for our luggage. The restaurant was great with very good food (and yes ostrich is on the menu!) They also had a car washing service which was really handy.

The is not much phone signal around as you are in a valley, and the Wifi was a bit patchy at times.
