Hacklewood Hill Country House is a timeless treasure steeped in Victorian charm. Built in 1898, this beautifully preserved manor offers a glimpse into the elegance of a bygone era. From the moment you step through its intricate stained-glass doors onto polished wooden floors, you're transported to a world of grace and sophistication. The attention to detail is remarkable, with gleaming banisters and fascinating period pieces adorning its two inviting reception rooms. Hacklewood Hill is not just a place to stay but a journey back in time, where history and hospitality come together seamlessly.

From the moment we arrived until we left, everything was amazing. The staff, especially Brenda, went out of their way to assist and nothing was too much trpuble - from insisting to carry our luggage to our room to finding room in their freezer for our ice bricks to keep hubby's insuline cold to ironing our clothes for a special occasion. The breakfast was scrumptious. The beautiful garden surrounding the beautiful old Victorian building is a true sanctuary. We loved every minute of our stay.

It’s clean, rooms were big and spacious. It’s beautiful. The staff that works were very nice. When we arrived we were checked in by Paul. Great guy 🙏🏿

There’s a guy (white), bold guy who drives a 1400 bakkie who treated us like we were homeless black people. We announce before leaving for the event that we’ll be back at 02:00 and when we got back our gate keys didn’t work. We waited outside while the same guy came to open the gate. When we enquired why our gate keys didn’t work, he had no answers.

Breakfast was excellent. Everything was cooked to perfection. Kudos to the chef. The little pastries on the table was delicious. We like that we have options available Our dinner was perfect. The Goats Cheese Mousse starter was soft and creamy and absolutely delicious. Our fillet was done to perfection and the desert ! Oh my - no words! Thank you Chef!

Unfortunately there were lots of mosquitos - the manager explained that the swimming pool across the road needs a clean-up so that was totally understandable. The manager organised some Peaceful Sleep for me (I'm a mosquito magnet ;-D. ). The staff (from our check-in right through to dealing with the manager) is excellent! Thank you !

We stayed at Hacklewood for our first night after getting married. What an incredible experience. The room and bathroom blew us away and the breakfast was extraordinary. Our waitress for breakfast was very professional, friendly and helpful. Thanks also to the staff for going the extra mile in surprising us with the way they decorated the bedroom and for the complimentary champagne and snacks. I can't recommend this establishment highly enough and we will definitely be back soon.

We have stayed here twice now and absolutely love the whole vibe and atmosphere of this place.

There was an issue with payment where the reservations had not sent our payment through to the property so that took ages to resolve as we were leaving. This could have been avoided if head office had been more efficient.

Lovely stay, the only thing that if I really had to nit pick was that I needed to carry bags up, I was helped but really didn't feel that it was the lovely receptionist who should have assisted me. The most gorgeous bathrooms, loads of little extras. The breakfast was amazing.

Warm water was an issue on the night, however I am sure by now it would have been sorted. The top part of the historic house can be noisy but that's just because of the wooden floors. It would be depending on who or how noisy upstairs guests are.

The rooms are beautiful and well appointed, the staff are friendly and the location is perfect. The breakfast is also very good.

The location of my room was terrible, right outside of the kitchen, which meant you heard all the kitchen and staff noises until well into the night. I had to keep on asking for water and dirty cups were not replaced. The shower is also not amazing for a 5* establishment.

A fabulous property, it was like stepping back in time! Everything about the decor throughout the house was beautiful! The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us, I have nothing negative at all to say about Hacklewood Hill.

Nothing, except that we only stayed one night.
