My adult nephew and I stayed here. We got the last two available rooms on the nights we stayed - one traditional room (bed on the floor) & one western style bed. We both were quite comfortable. Love those heated floors. I will note that I enjoyed that in my room there was a small dresser/table with a very comfortable stool, and it was nice to have something to sit on other than the bed. I did like the bed, although I believe it might be a bit more posh than is traditional, and I am grateful for that. Korean beds, to my western back and middle-aged sensibilties, seemed quite firm; however, I slept very well and LOVED the feel of the heated floor through the mattress; wonderful for winter. The room and bath were pristinely clean and nice. I didn't even turn on the TV, but there was one. Enjoyed the little fridge for a cold beverage. (No eating in the rooms, but the common/breakfast room is open for that all day and evening.) We were greeted upon arrival by a kind gentleman who spoke English to us, which we did not expect but appreciated. He also was good to give us a tip to walk over to see the Donggung Palace & Wolji Pond lighted up at night. Wonderfu! The rebuilt buildings, the layout, the plantings, the music. Mostly Korean tourists there; truly a beautiful outing. The lovely woman who managed breakfast didn't speak much English (nor us any Korean much), but language isn't needed much for breakfast, is it? A very fine buffet of fruits and breads and toppings and toasted sandwiches, coffee/tea and juice. Really a wonderful start to the day. And the location? - Perfect. We drove around the day we arrived, before checking in, and saw some additional further-away places after we checked out, but the two days that we stayed in the guesthouse, we were fully occupied with places within relatively easy (in-the-army nephew says easy, I say mostly easy) walking distance.
Because we visited in winter, although during an unseasonably warm period, we were unable to enjoy the outdoor seating in the courtyard. That looks very nice for slightly warmer time periods.

This was an emergency booking as we mucked up and only booked one, instead of 2, nights in our other place. We wished we had two nights here. Staff were kind and friendly, house and garden are lovely. Location was easy, especially as we wanted to walk everywhere. We had a twin room as it was all that was left at short notice but beds comfortable and extra storage found for our luggage. Cute notices everywhere in English and Korean giving guidance and tips. Friendly well looked after cat. There was a beautiful breakfast of fresh fruit being prepared as we left but we had to rush off for an early train.
Our air conditioning went off in the middle of the night. The coverings on window and door gave privacy but still let light in. All the guests were very quiet so noise wasn’t an issue but, as this is a traditional house, the walls are thin.

We stayed here for two nights in mid-February. I had a traditional bed room (mattress on the heated floor), and my nephew had a room with a regular bed. We were both very comfortable. I will note that the traditional (floor) bed's mattress was, per my nephew who lives in Korea, fatter and more comfy than is usual. I wanted the experience of sleeping on the heated floor (wonderful!, assuming you are able to get down to and up from the floor), and I appreciated the nicer mattress; it was quite comfortable. The rooms are as pictured on their website - modestly sized but completely adequate and comfortable and very clean. There is a small fridge for beverages, slippers for the bathroom, good light, a small dresser with a stool, and the bed. The ondol (floor) heating was perfect, and I could see an air conditioner, although we didn't need that in February. We much appreciated the good breakfast to start the day - with coffee, tea, juice, hot sandwiches available, lots of fruit options, toast, boiled eggs and more, plus sides like peanut butter and Nutella, etc. The location is excellent. Upon arriving, the gentleman greeting us recommended we walk over to visit the night-time illuminated Donggung Palace & Woji Pond, which we did and enjoyed very much; the “away” side of the pond has lovely views and is much quieter. The next day we walked over to the tomb complex, the Woljeonggyo Bridge, saw Cheomseongdae Observatory, much enjoyed visiting the Cheonmachong tomb (where you can enter, and which has nice displays and historical information), and we wrapped up with a stroll along Hwangridan-gil people-watching and stopping for dinner. All of this relatively easy (my young adult nephew says “easy!”) walking distance from the guesthouse. We didn’t move our car from the time we parked to check in at the guesthouse until we checked out. Note: I wrote one review and pasted it both here and on Google. ;-)

Dorandoran guesthouse is brilliantly located for leisure travel. Set back from the roadside in a traditional part of Gyeongju, it’s quiet at night, but is also within easy walking distance from great cafes and restaurants, local sites, and the bus line to travel to surrounding areas is just two streets away. The room was comfortable and warm (good in Feb!), a nice hot shower, and the guest house itself was beautifully arranged in the hanok style. The hosts were very welcoming, and offered advice on how to get the best out of my stay. I was super comfortable and it provided a relaxing base to travel Gyeongju. Thanks Dorandoran!!
Nothing - everything was great!

This guesthouse is perfect for a short stay in Gyeongju! The accommodation is beautiful and I felt very lucky to be able to stay here given how popular a location it is. The hosts are very welcoming and the guesthouse is in a central location to the main attractions in Gyeongju. Breakfast was provided, which consisted of tea, coffee, fruit, toast and eggs. The hosts kindly held my luggage for me on the last day before I went for my train back to Seoul in the evening. The Hwangnidangil area is not too far away which has an abundance of restaurants and cafes.
Nothing. Everything was great

Beautiful, traditional property that is well kept. Walking distance to almost all major sights! Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and the option to make your own eggs. We had a Korean style room which was not big but had enough space for our 3 bags. Comfortable and with a heated mattress option and heated floors. Hot water and good shower pressure. I’ve see a lot of complaints across Korea about the open showers and small towels - this is just a cultural difference. It was no problem for us.
Really no complaints. Would stay again!

I've visited Gyeongju four times and always stayed at Dorandoran—I had a wonderful experience every time and will definitely keep coming back ^^ The location is perfect! just a short walk from the main spots. The rooms are all very clean and so cozy that I always rested very well :) Most importantly, the hosts always make you feel at home. You will get a delicious breakfast too! You can cook your own eggs and there are plenty of fruits. Fruits are very expensive in Korea, so it shows the hosts’ generosity and care for their guests. Thank you for making my visit to Gyeongju always so special. 늘 건강하시고 행복하세요~ 보고 싶을 거예요
Everything was perfect.

The guesthouse is a cozy typical korean house. There is a nice common garden and a shared living room for breakfast. The location is great, as it is just next to the main Gyeongju's attractions as well as to restaurants, cafés, shops. The wnglish speaking hosts are welcoming and very kind.
Being a typical korean house, bedrooms and bathrooms are pretty small (for example, our bedroom wasn't equipped with a wardrobe and the bathroom hasn't a proper shower). I would suggest the accommodation for at least a couple of nights.

DoranDoran guesthouse is a special and unique place to spend you time and that all comes down to the wonderful people that run it. Their kind, friendly and infectious joy makes staying at DoranDoran feel like a second home. The breakfasts were homely and comfortable. Sharing a breakfast with travellers from abroad made for a special experience. The location is phenomenal. You are right across the road from the observatory and wider historical area. There are abundant restaurant options and the famous Gyeonju bread available at your doorstep. The accommodation itself is a quaint modernised Hanok style building with a beautifully decorated courtyard and all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you for making our time in Korea so special.
It was perfect!

- Position (near to the most crowded streets with shops and restaurants, near to the tourist attractions, near to bus station and bike rental). - Breakfast (self service - shared kitchen) with different options (toast with cheese, eggs, tea, milk, cereals…) and a lot of fruits. - Hot water and tea bags always available in the kitchen. - Beautiful hanok house. - The landlady was very nice and welcoming.
- Like many korean accomodations, there is no shower box and when you take a shower the floor of the bathroom will get all wet. Anyway it’s not a problem, you just have to be careful in case the floor is slippery.
