You have to leave key at reception everytime going out No soundproofing, you would hear sounds from next rooms, and our room (210) gave on a shared interior with other houses, with so much noise It is on 2nd floor without lift in case you have a lot of luggage

My recent stay at Hostal River was a delightful surprise. Situated just steps away from the vibrant La Rambla main street, this charming hotel offered the perfect blend of convenience and comfort. Despite our last-minute changes in plans, the staff warmly welcomed us and ensured a seamless experience. The cleanliness of the room and the crisp linens added an extra layer of comfort to our stay. The hostel's location was ideal for exploring Barcelona's attractions, yet it provided a peaceful retreat after a day of sightseeing. What truly stood out was the genuine hospitality of the staff, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. In short, Hostal River exceeded my expectations in every way. For anyone seeking a cozy and welcoming escape in the heart of Barcelona, I wholeheartedly recommend this gem of a hotel.

We booked the apartment with the private bathroom. Convenient little room, very clean. It got cleaned every morning after we left and the towels were changed the 3rd day. Great location, very central and close by foot to many attractions and the night life, but at the same time very quiet at night. The price,for the area it is in, is quite good.

Most of the stuff spoke only Spanish, making it difficult to communicate, but they were polite and tired to communicate with us. Also during the last two days the water in the sink wouldn't go down the drain, hopefully it got fixed after we left.

The staff were lovely and so helpful , beyond what was expected, helping us keep luggage secure while loading motos in a busy inner city area. The room was much nicer than expected with a common room to enjoy watching the passing crowds. In a city which is becoming expensive to visit, this little gem is worth considering

The area was a little risky for parking motor cycles, like many inner city areas. The wonderful locals were watching over them for us. The stairs were a bit of a workout.

Staff were super friendly, we arrived a little bit early so they let us leave our suitcases in reception until our room was ready, they also let us leave our suitcases on our last day after we had checked out of the room, which was really sweet and gave us another day to explore Barcelona. We felt safe and comfortable in our room and around the area, we also had a shared bathroom which wasn’t as bad as we were expecting, it was very clean.

The only thing that I could criticise is that there wasn’t always hot water but for the price it was beyond amazing.

The hostel is great value for the money, specially the location. It‘s been located next to the la Rambla which is the most famous street in BCN. They have luggage room and 24/7 service The staff are very friendly and I actually got friend with one of them. She was very nice and helped me a lot about the city. The room was enormously clean and it gets cleaned up every day. Moreover, it has a hairdryer, sink and some tables and obviously a comfortable bed. The Fan doesn’t really work though. Also make sure you are physically fit as there is no elevator and the hostel is in 2nd floor. The Bathroom and shower room were also very clean and Hot water was good enough. I find it satisfactory. The Kitchen had two water boiler along with Microwave and plenty of tables and sits. Also a great balcony with the view towards the alley. Its in my book, very spanish and beautiful. At the end, it is very very great, I will book it next time again.

Bad point is that the walls are thin so make sure you keep it down when you are having some fun with your partner ;) Lack of hangers in the shower room

Water in the shower constantly changes between ice cold and boiling hot, so you actually waste a lot of water waiting for the usable temperature. Strange combination of hotel services (room cleaning) and dormitory rules (i.e. no visit policy).

Friendly staff helpful, Fina the owner was great, kind.

Wish there was a bar fridge in the room. Wish there were more rooms with private bathroom. Wi-Fi on the third floor near the end of the hallway was very weak at times there was no Wi-Fi. Signals are very weak on the third floor. Perhaps you could add more routers to improve the strength of the Wi-Fi signal.

The staff were welcoming and kind. The room was clean and well prepared! Location was really great. There were fresh towels and linens, a hairdryer and some single soap/shampoo for our stay.

It was a great deal so, as would be expected, the room was sparsely decorated and no AC which was not an issue for us. They did provide a fan and the room had a window for fresh air.

Easy to get to, right off the Rambla.afew stairs going up. The place seems clean, I even had a bathtub and honestly, it's great value for the money.clean sheets, clean towels, clean room, right next to Rambla. Great place, overall, if you need a place to sleep. Plus, the internet is surprisingly fast for Catalunya!

The inner courtyard view is not something you we ant to see, smell or hear. So if you keep the window closed, it's all good!
