We loved visiting Merida, and the apartment was central, clean, modern and had everything we needed. The ensuite bathroom is particularly fabulous. We were met by our host, who was also around to say goodbye when we departed - which seems more personal than most Booking.com places. We also appreciated the information he provided on recommended places to eat. We were on the central street of the city, so it was a short walk to all of the major sites. It’s almost impossible not to stumble on historically significant sites when you walk 5 minutes in any direction! We made good use of the 17 euro ticket to most of Merida’s sites. We were really glad we stopped in Merida would have very happily spent another nigh in the apartment and in Merida!

We didn’t cook a full meal in the kitchen, so can’t comment on how well stocked the kitchen was beyond the basics, but it certainly met our needs, including with a generous number of coffee pods for the coffee machine. There was a little bit of street noise up to midnight on one of the nights, but it didn’t really disrupt us, and it was a weekend night.

The apartment of Petronila 1881 is perfect for a couple, two couples or a family with kids. All the apartments are perfectly well equiped and so nicely decorated. The whole building, including the two terraces all guests can use, are perfectly cleaned. We also enjoyed the fact that the apartments are situated in a traffic free shopping street ending in the Plaza Mayor. We enjoyed the full moon on the roof terrace looking at the Temple of Diana ( the back of it) and we had breakfast on the garden terrace which we liked as well. On the first floor there is a washing machine for huests to use and a laundry dryer. We will be back...

Nothing at all. It was perfect!

We loved being able to cook after a few weeks of travelling. The apartment was spacious, well equipped, and very well located, with good food stores close by. The apartment is beautifully decorated and we appreciated the cleaning service part way through our 5 night stay. The apartment was quiet and we slept well. Mérida is definitely worth visiting and this apartment made our stay most enjoyable.

It took a few tries before we worked out how to easily open the door to the apartment. It was very easy once we knew how to though.

Absolutely everything. We walked into a luxury apartment with all we needed for a 3 day stay. The king size bed was comfortable with quality linen. Even the toilet paper was good quality. We had sparkling and still water waiting in the fridge. It was teeming with rain when we arrived, the host called us a taxi and met us with umbrellas for the short walk to the apartment. We were given some great restaurant tips and the apartment was central to everything. I didn’t want to leave.

We loved everything about PETRONILA 1881. This property should be listed as a Case Study in handbooks of architecture and interior design! The whole building has been renovated and decorated in the most tasteful manner, with very high-quality materials, namely top-notch glazing which ensured total noise insulation (only when we opened the window, we realized that the Carnival celebrations had already started at our doorstep!). There´s AC. And there’s a lift, which may be a game changer for some. We were travelling as a family with a teenager and we stayed at a one-bedroom apartment. Every room, including the bathroom, were much bigger than what we were used to. The kitchen had everything we would expect and even more. Location is unbeatable: in a pedestrian street at the heart of the beautiful historical centre of Mérida, walking distance to the main attractions, restaurants, shops, pharmacy, supermarket and parking. Javier was the most professional host we have ever come across, providing us with useful information, replying promptly to our messages, and accommodating every request we made. Javier’s instructions included suggestions on where to park as well as on the nearest place to the apartment where we could drop off luggage/passengers (which may be very useful if you’re travelling with a lot of luggage).

We did love everything! However, some people may be disappointed by the fact that (in the apartment we stayed in) the bathroom is accessible through the bedroom (instead of directly from the living room).

Truly outstanding accommodation. The apartment is very tastefully decorated to a very high standard, it's homely, spacious, spotless,.thoughtfully equipped and very relaxing. The bed was so comfortable that I slept much better than I usually do, and all the extras like teas, bottled water and lotion were very much appreciated, as were all the suggestions and advice. Javier is an exceptionally proactive and amenable host, which made my stay in this fascinating,.lively town all the more perfect. Thank you! .

The apartment in Merida was exceptionally large – 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, on the first floor up from the entry level (elevator available). Although the kitchen is small, it has all that is necessary to prepare meals. The apartment is beautifully furnished, and, because of the location of the bedrooms and baths, offers the sort of privacy two couples traveling together would enjoy. It overlooks a small communal courtyard and there is a laundry room with a washer and dryer available to all guests. The location in the historic center of Merida made it easy to get around to the various sights. Javier, our host, was extremely kind and helpful.

A beautifully appointed apartment. It was very clean and spacious. It is located only 1 block from the Roman temple, 10-20 minute walk to the other Roman and Moorish ruins. The building has an elevator. Our host was very helpful and welcoming.

This is not a criticism but customers need to be aware that the building is located in a pedestrian area. If you arrive by car, be sure to find parking first and then walk to the building.

Super, super clean. Very comfortable, great mattress. Very well furnished and well equipped kitchen. Great location. Arriving after a long trip from Cadiz, it was lovely that a bottle of milk and water were left in the fridge together with sufficient supplies of coffee for a few days. Thanks Javier.

There is nothing not to like about the property.

Very beautiful flat and great attention to details We had a bottle of water and milk upon arrival, as well as tea, coffee and chocolate for the kids. Our host was very attentive and flexible, and gave us many recommandations for a great stay in Merida.

The flat is on a commercial street, where multiple cleaning trucks go through from 5 am to clean the street and other parallel streets, which makes a great deal of noise and prevented us to sleep well.
