I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. It was impeccably clean and well-maintained. The room size was generous, providing a comfortable stay. Without a doubt, the breakfast surpassed all our expectations, ranking as the best we've had during our time in Sri Lanka! I wholeheartedly recommend staying here. The staff members were not only delightful but also incredibly helpful, enhancing our overall enjoyment of the stay.

Overall, our stay at the hotel was exceptional. The only drawback was the relatively small size of the bathroom. Additionally, there was a discrepancy in the currency we were charged, as we were expecting to pay in dollars as indicated on Booking.com but were instead billed in Sri Lanka currency. Despite these minor issues, our experience was overwhelmingly positive.

Positives Location Comfortable bed and pillows Lovely room and view - liked the minimalist and sustainable vibes The bathroom was lovely, sliding shower door uses the space wisely. Strong AC Staff lovely and always ready to help and assist. Security is very visible which is helpful. Didn’t mind the noise because they are still building the hotel. We were told they are building more rooms, and infinity pool and a rooftop bar. Negatives Not really negatives just things to improve as the hotel gets more popular: Balcony door didn’t seal when locked so quite a few bugs came and joined us. Tv inaccessible-we could only use YouTube. We had to give our key over to have the room key-there should be duplicates or a master key. Hot water was an issue at night but no so much in the late afternoon. Breakfast could have a better selection given that the restaurants on the street are providing breakfast for a pretty cheap price. Three small steep hills in order to reach the hotel-manageable for us but needs to be advertised for those with accessibility issues. What they’re charging at the moment doesn’t justify the price, however when it is complete, it will.

The view from room 403 was breathtaking - we could never tire of looking at it! The bed was good, sprung mattress a bit bouncy - but that’s a personal thing. The pillows were lovely. The air con very welcome. They are building a pool on the roof which should be done by September and will be a lovely addition. The hike up the hill is fine - but you can take a tuk tuk for 500LKR if you want. We stayed 3 nights and managed to do everything on the tick list, Ella rock. Little Adam’s peak, Tea factory tour, Secret Waterfall. Breakfast was very good, and they provided a pack lunch box for our onward journey as we were leaving early. In particular we would like to thank Kavindu, Suresh and Madha for making our trip to Ella one we will never forget.

The design of the bathroom is not very easy to access the toilet and if you are tall then you will need to sit sideways. The little 1cm ‘steps’ in the bathroom can catch your toes. The noise from the roof work will stop in August / September but it’s not awful and the rewards for those who stay after will be great!

Best hotel in town honestly. The room is perfect and such a nice view, everything is clean and we feel home. Staff super kind and helpful, want to highlight Kavindu, the sweetest with the best hospitality skills! Breakfast super good from kind kitchen team 3/4min by walk from the city center and very accessible to start the two famous hikes. Highly highly recommended

Noise proof is not the best.. could hear dogs and guests from the room

Even though there is a steep hill to walk up (u can always get a Tuk Tuk) to get to Onrock Hotel, we loved the location as it’s so centrally located to the High Street shops, restaurants & fabulous cafes; Little Adam’s Peak; Nine Arch Bridge; Ella’s Rock; etc The staff very friendly nothing is a problem for them they are so accommodating. We can’t thank Karvinda enough as he organised everything for us from a great Tuk Tuk driver Thiru; recommended a great massage place; advised and organised all our activities - we absolutely loved our stay here, it was comfortable and easy. We will definitely be back.

Hotel was well located just a few mins off from the main strip of hotels and restaurants in Ella. It was also a 20 mins walk to the Nine Arch Bridge. You can just get Tuktuks at the bottom of the road. staff were friendly and helpful and it was very well priced. Room was spacious, must of been just recently done. We also had beautiful views of the mountains in the distance from our balcony. The hotel also organised our private taxi from Colombo to here (5 hour journey) which was fab help. It was around £80 for a private car.

I would have expected a turnover service but our room was never made during our stay. There was also construction noise as they look like they are creating a pool or expanding so I’m sure that will end soon. Didn’t bother us but might be worth checking.

The view from the room was amazing, we were lucky enough to get upgraded to a room in fourth floor. Staff were very attentive and ready to help us in anything we needed, from laundry to local food recommendations and sightseeing. Location of the hotel was a 5-minute walk from the restaurants and main Ella area. Our customer service manager Ajey was super professional, attentive and very easy to deal with. He added a personal touch, understanding our needs and catering to them, which made the stay even more unforgettable. The breakfast options were amazingly good including local and international food. They also had an egg station which exceeded our expectations!

To get to the hotel, there is a steep road which sometimes can be a bit tiring. However the view was totally worth it

Everything!!! Despite being at the top of a very steep slope the location is great and you can easily get up/down by foot or tuk-tuk. The room, balcony, bed, bathroom, etc are all a great size and the views really are spectacular! The staff were very passionate about what you could see from the view, giving you advice of where to go for hikes, drink/food, and to 9 arches of course. 9 arches is an easy 25 minutes walk from the hotel or you can get transport there! We would recommend little Adam's Peak and staying at least 2 nights (we only did one) as there is so much more to do and see... including a couple of zip lines, a bar/pool next to Adams peak you could spend the day at, shops, bars, plenty of walks, etc.

That we only stayed one night!!! We should have stayed longer :)

Lovely hotel. Staff were so lovely and welcoming and made us feel so special. They were so lovely with my son. Room was clean and comfortable, with incredible views overlooking Ella’s rock and Little Adam’s Peak. Food was really good too, we had dinner and breakfast and everything was cooked fresh for us by the lovely chefs. Perfect location for exploring Ella! We chose to get tuktuks as didn’t want to walk up the hill but they are super cheap. Ella has so much to offer, I wish we had longer. Would definitely recommend.
