Fantastic location. Ella is very very hilly. If you have mobility issues you need to be as close to the main road as possible (if you plan on going out). This has like a 5 minute (very steep) walk but it’s one of the closer places. We loved being able to walk down to the shops/bars/restaurants within 5 minutes. Staff were great and organised transfers. Gave advice for local excursions but weren’t too pushy.

Rooms are slightly dated and the bathrooms could do with a bit of a deeper clean or updating but this isn’t the end of the world. Also no air con but it is cool in the evening compared to other places. Your experience may vary.

The bathroom is also spacious and could perfectly have something to stop the shower water from wetting the whole bathroom floor and toilet when someone is taking a shower... Also the staff guy who worked there couldn't advise us on going to the coast by bus. He said there was no bus and that he could give us a budget for a transfer... which is not true. I understand they want to support fellow local worker's to also profit from tourism, but people should be honest and always give the correct information. Nevertheless, we found info about the buses to the coast online and by asking on the street. So this wasn't a major problem for us!

Felt that the owner was extremely helpful and easy to contact. The owner went out of his way to facilitate my early departure and made breakfast for me to take on the train. He also agreed to be paid in Euros which was easier for me.I suppose what I didn't like so much was the position of my bedroom. I was near the entrance to the building and it could be a bit noisy with people coming back at night. I liked the proximity to the town. The views aren't so great as there is a lot of building work going on. I didn't like the town of Ella but if you choose to stay there this is a good option.

No side lamp near the bed, so the lighting was a bit centralised and full on.

A nice, well-kept accommodation, very central and yet mostly away from the noise of Ella. The path to the hotel is very steep, so a tuk tuk helps if you have heavy luggage. The family is very friendly and the delicious breakfast is served on the terrace in front of the room. The room is large, clean, has everything you need including plenty of sockets and a very comfortable bed. On the subject of hot water: just be patient, it gets hot :-) We felt very comfortable and would book again.

Everything! Poorna, the host, is an absolute gentleman. He was brilliant right from our arrival until our departure. He greeted us as we arrived, helped us with our bags, sorted us out in our room and offered us a drink while we got settled in. Communication was very easy, as Poorna had messaged me on WhatsApp prior to our arrival to ensure everything was OK. Anything we needed, we messaged on WhatsApp. The room was really nice, spacious, clean and cool with an amazing view of Ella Rock, Little Adam's Peak and the landscape beyond. The shower was very good, with good pressure and hot water. Our room included a balcony, to the front of the property, where we had breakfast each morning. It was nice to sit and enjoy the view in a relaxing environment. It was not noisy at all, despite being so close to the main street. Breakfast was amazing, prepared by Poorna and his wife. All we had to do was provide him with a time for when we would want it and it was ready and waiting for us. A varied selection each day, we felt like it was a 5 star service being offered. On our last day, we were leaving really early, 5am, and Poorna even packed us a breakfast to take! He was very accommodating to our requests, and even let us use his kitchen to prepare some food. He even offered recommendations on things to see in Ella, places to go to eat and even a spa to unwind. We would wholeheartedly recommend anyone stay here as the hotel and service is beyond anything we expected.

Nothing! The only thing we would make people aware of is that it is up a hill from the main road, but less than a few minutes walk/climb.

It was very well located, close to the main road yet in a quiet area (you have to walk the last few meters steeply uphill.) The owner of the apartments was very friendly and helped us with all our needs. The breakfast at the Balkony was always really great. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!

I cannot recommend Poomaz Peace Palace highly enough. The location is fantastic only a few minutes walk to the main street, yet it's tucked away enough so you are not disturbed by any noise from the town. The room we had was so large and spacious and the bed was super comfortable. Although hot water took a little while to come through as it's all solar, it was piping hot! The breakfast served out on your own private little table on the shared balcony was one of the highlights of our whole Sri Lanka trip - the food was so tasty, and coupled with the views of Ella Rock made for a fantastic start to each morning. Poorna was easily reachable if you had any questions or needed advice and his and his team's service was absolutely superb - thank you for a very memorable stay.

Nothing, I can honestly say the staff were so lovely and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. The room was huge and the breakfast on the balcony looking over Ella and Ella rock was a delight. The hill to the property is steep, however well worth the walk or Tuk Tuk up due to its very central location

Poomaz Peace Palace is the cutest home stay situated up a hill just minutes on foot from the town centre with stunning views of Ella’s Rock from the balcony. Poorna is the nicest host imaginable with the sweetest smile and he is always ready to do anything he can to help. The room is simple but very comfortable, clean and quiet. The breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented. We loved the location and enjoyed sitting out on the balcony admiring the view and watching rich bird life in the trees surrounding us. Very happy we chose to stay here as it was so convenient to everything and a short walk to the train station.

We travelled as a family of three and our tall teenage son found the single bed in the alcove a wee bit short for him so his feet were dangling off the end. A younger child would be fine.

Staff was really nice and they prepared lovely breakfast in the morning. Location is great if you want to stay close to the main street (it’s a minute away)…

…since the house is a minute away from the main street you can hear very loud music till 2-3am - I’m no light sleeper but this was horrible, so I do recommend earplugs. It wasn’t super clean, bedsheets were little dirty with some stains on it, walls need to be painted and bathroom cleaner.
