The hotel owner and staff were exceptionally friendly and the place doesn't feel like a hotel it feels like you're in a warm home

The staff were very accommodating of any requests, always available to answer any questions and happy to help with advice, information and assistance in organising any trips. Chaminda H had very good English, was always available to answer any questions and check everything was ok. Happy to arrange transport and the tuk tuk driver they advised we used was as cheap as any other but also very sensible driver compared to some others we used. We were three women travelling together and felt very safe at the resort staff were very respectful. Breakfast was fantastic and they were happy to oblige any requests. The gardens and environment were beautifully kept as well as the pool. Ideal for families or travellers who want to be away from chaos of the city in quiet surroundings but a short tuk tuk drive to town.we would happily recommend, very good value and hope to return.

Maybe could have more information available on the local area, maps, sites etc although if you asked they were happy to help.

Lovely spacious room with nice views from the generous balcony. Located out of the city, so lovely and quiet, compared with Kandy itself. The staff were fantastic, so helpful and cleaned the pool if you mentioned you were going to use it and arranged a tuk tuk if we were going anywhere. The breakfasts were amazing. In fact the Sri Lankan curry was the best I had in Sri Lanka and was what I had been expecting. There was lots of hot water, so lovely shower after a hot day.

The bathroom was a little tired and the WiFi was weak.

A lovely and relaxing stay in kandy. The rooms were really amazing. And the bathroom completely renovated (not always easy to find in shrilanka). The hotel also serves a delicious breakfast and we enjoyed a swim in the pool right before that. The hotel manager speaks perfect English and helped us a lot with what to see in kandy.

Everything was perfect. The place is located slightly out of the center of kandy (10min tuk tuk) but still in the city of course. the hotel has its own tuk tuk and we found that better because allowed for a more calm and restful sleep while in close proximity to everything.

We stayed in one of the villas up in the trees, and it was a really lovely and unique experience - complete with monkeys! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and everything was very beautiful. Great views, and very peaceful location. The bed was very comfy and the fan was sufficient to keep us cool despite the very hot day!

The villa was up a lot of very steep steps, which might be challenging if you're not very fit (thankfully we only had to go up twice!). The shower had no hot water which is something we found in lots of Sri Lankan places - fine if it's very hot, but not great in the evenings when it has cooled down and makes it tricky to wash your hair.

Close enough to the action (10-15min tuktuk) but removed enough to be more quiet and relaxing with a beautiful view of the mountains. The staff was the standout the owner went out of his way to be very helpful! We had left a bag in the car we arrived in and it had gone all the way to Colombo and the owner organised to have it returned to us at extremely minimal financial cost to us which was very appreciated, another staff member took us to a local food place for dinner and the tuk tuk driver was the best one we’ve had on our whole trip, very fair and reasonable with good knowledge of the area. Overall would recommend.

Wasn’t a problem for us but there are a lot of steps to the room so keep that in mind. Breakfast is simple, so if you’re foodie go into town but we enjoyed the ease of having it ready every morning!

We never expected to have such a countryside heavenly view of the mountains in the middle of Kandy. There were 105 steps to climb to our cottage, but it was definitely worth climbing to reach the heavenly view. The owner/host was extremely helpful and friendly and was able to adjust to our demands for vegetarian meals and even provided a lunch when they normally do not have lunch served. We thank him immensely.

Best place in the world

The surrounding was cool.

The height, there is a very steep ramp to reach the villa, then very steep 8 stairs and then my room was further on 1st floor, reaching to room was pretty tough exercise from the road. The main reception person was a grumpy arrogant person, not a hospitality face at all. Later on 3rd day he declared that he is not a regular reception person but the owner of the place and an Engineer by profession, came here only on vacation from Oman. He is not for that seat at all, even for temporary basis.

Orchid Villa is a little out of town and situated on the side of a steep hill, however it is a lovely place to stay and tuk tuks and taxis in to town are easy to get. We were often the only people in the pool and breakfast was excellent. Great view of the bats every evening flying down the river.
