The hotel is well located and not close the central huddle and bustle of town. We found the rooms to be clean. It is close to Hideout Lounge which is convenient for a meal you can walk to. The staff were really helpful and looked after us. We had a room on top floor for our teenage boys and also the external cabin. It looks like the hotel is part way through building more external self contained rooms. We used the pool to cool off after a day sight seeing.

Nothing major but The cabin door was too narrow and irritating to open. We also had no hot water so cold Showers but the kids did have it in the main building. To be fair we didn’t raise this with the staff so. The cabin doesn’t have good soundproofing from the road as it is pretty much glass on most sides.

Everything is perfect except Location. The Rooms were very clean like new, the property is on the hill with a nice trees view around and can also see a bit of kandy lake but far. The Washroom & Bedroom is spacious. Bedsheets were smelling fresh. Literally nothing to complaint about. Breakfast had lot of options but same options on both the days as we stayed for 2N. They make hot omelette and serve upon request. The staff is very kind and down to earth. We celebrated our 1st anniversary so they arranged balloons all over the room and some local garden fresh plucked flowers. The location is on the hill so you have to either take a tuk tuk or a cab, and if you have heavy bags tuk tuk wont climb for sure. The kandy lake is 15 minutes walk or more but not 7 or 10 minutes. And you have to climb a lot when back to hotel. The property is worth spending . We loved it. Tuk tuk will take around 300LKR one way (hotel or kandy lake). Great staff, amazing property. Hotel location is very close to Kandy lake and Kandy main city area, everything within 4-5KMs. as we booked this off-season there were hardly 2-3 bookings in this hotel so the breakfast was a set menu instead of buffet spread, but they have limited menu only. whatever they served was freshly made, good quality with taste only fresh juices were not available. For driver we got room for free to stay including parking. the stay is friendly and supportive. for our 1.5yr toddler they had a wooden baby chair which was unexpected.

the road is quiet tricky and narrow to travel upto the hotel as it is located at the top of the hill.

Everything! We're a family of 4, booked 2 rooms and we were on 3rd floor, just us, which was great. The rooms were clean, bathrooms were good, shower was lovely, bed was super comfy, there was a fridge, AC, a fan, balcony overlooked the lake and you could see tooth temple and buddah on the left. The breakfast was the best we've had, so much variety! Omelette cooked fresh, scrambled eggs, chicken sausages, selection of fruits, cakes, rice, daal, curd, breads.. tea, coffee and juices. We ate like kings and it lasted us until dinner! Everyone is super lovely too, in reception, the housekeepers, the pool boy, waiters.. everyone! I'd highly recommend. The staff were outstanding at Hotel Yo, they could not be more helpful or friendly. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was spacious, clean and had a lovely view. Rooms are well equipped with Tea and coffee, water, air-con and hairdryer. Breakfast is a buffet with the option of eggs cooked your way, the omlettes were lovely. They offer evening meals too, which we had a devilled chicken dish which was tasty. The hotel is well positioned. It is up a steepish hill, but Tuk Tuk's are abundant. We walked down easily and up a couple of times. The lake is close by and about a 25 min walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Old Royal palace. Lovely stay and would highly recommend. It was all great, nothing to not like.

The staff is exceptional and really went out of their way for us! We loved the place and would 100% recommend it and come again! Delicious breakfast and a great variety too - fresh fruits, curry and other traditional food but also toast, eggs, cereal and much more. They also have a chef that is preparing an omelette for you if you want. Everyday, we were greeted with a smile and we felt very welcome. You can pay by card - which is not always possible in Sri Lanka. The pool is amazing and really refreshing- just what you need after being in the sun. Our highlight was definitely the monkeys that came to the pool area from time to time! :)

Bed sheets need a bit of an update. Some facilities might need some renovation. WiFi acted quite strangely sometimes. Sound isolation is not the best. If you're a light sleeper, bring your ear plugs.

From the moment we arrived the hotel staff went above and beyond for us - from helping us with our bags to packing us a little breakfast for our train journey to Ella as well as providing us plates / knives / forks for when we got back late and ordered dinner in. The rooms were very clean and spacious and although we didn’t use the pool it looked lovely. The location is also extremely good to get to Temple of the Tooth / Kandy View Point and Kandy Lake. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Kandy

Hotel Yo is definitely a lovely property but it is the attention and hospitality of the staff that elevate it to make a stay in Kandy a truly memorable experience. We arrived when many restaurants were closed due to new year - so the manager made sure he organised delicious curries and coconut sambal each morning. We wanted to play cards as a group - He cleared a space on the top floor for us. The pool is lovely and the location about a 10 minute walk from the lake. Ask for a front room - stunning views.
