We had 3 amazing nights at Hanthana House. We totally recommend it! The room was very big, so was the bathroom. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, we slept like babies. Also, they have the best breakfast and dinner, we loved it. In addition, they have a service of tuk tuk to drive you to the city and to pick you up from where you need. The staff is absolutely amazing!! They have even gave us their phone numbers for us to call them when we get back home, to share a recipe of a dish we absolutely loved there. The location is amazing: in the middle of nature, surrounded by flowers and birds, very quiet and modern area. The view from the rooftop is also lovely. Also, the house itself is very nice built, great quality furniture, linen and beautiful design. I would have given a 10, but unfortunately we had problems with the Wi-Fi in 2 out of the 3 nights we spent there... the owners tried fixing it, but it did not work. However, even without wifi, it was amazing. Totally recommend it!!

Beautiful house up in the hills. With comfortable beds, rooms, Pathi and his family are very kind and always willing to help with anything you need. We spent one full day in Kandy all arranged by our ideas and Pathi made it into a better plan than we could have chose. It was an incredible day that we really enjoyed. Beautiful view in the mountains and comfortable room. I did a yoga class on the terrace which was an incredible way to start the day moving your body and wind flowing through your hair (highly recommend). Also the food was delicious, the ladies in the kitchen always cooking up the best food. You don’t choose, they create the menu for you but it’s delicious Sri Lankan cuisine.

The room was very clean, spacious, and well presented - by far the best we have stated in during our time in Sri Lanka. There were also tea and coffee making facilities, and filtered water in the room. We had dinner at the property which was a lovely homemade meal, and would highly recommend eating here. The host is such a kind and knowledgeable man - him and the other staff were all very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, and we loved speaking to them about things to do in Sri Lanka. They even arranged a driver to take us around for the last few days of our trip for a very good price which was hugely appreciated. Incredible service - thank you!

Nothing we didn’t like - the only thing to be aware of is that the property is located in a quiet area (great for a good night sleep) 10mins Tuktuk from the town centre. It only costs about £2 and they are readily available or can be arranged by the host, so don’t let that put you off!

Location: The hotel is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood away from Kandy's main traffic. It's recommended to contact the hotel directly for directions, as Google Maps isn't entirely accurate for this location. Check-in: Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the owner who served refreshments in the main building's lobby. After completing the check-in process, we were escorted to our room on the top floor. Convenient parking is available outside the building. Room: Our accommodation featured a comfortable king-size bed, along with a spacious cupboard and table for storage. The bathroom is well-proportioned. The room's standout feature is its balcony, which offers mountain views and serves as an ideal spot for relaxation. Dining: Breakfast is served in a separate building and includes a traditional Sri Lankan spread of curry, string hoppers, fresh fruit, juice, and tea. The hotel also offers rice and curry dinner options priced at $12 per plate. The owner's suggestion to visit Glenloch tea estate proved to be a valuable recommendation.

Hanthana House is a comfortable place to stay away nestled in the hills up and away from the busy bustle of Kandy. The rooms are a good size and, on the whole, pretty clean and tidy. The welcome is warm and food was available at all meal times whilst we there and it was plentiful and tasty. It is easy to arrange Tuk Tuk transport to and from the city - the property has its own Tuk Tuk and can arrange alternative options if that is unavailable.

We felt the dinner was a little on the expensive side (and didn't know the price until we checked out).

The food was absolutely delicious and the price for the food really reasonable. We had dinner at hanthana house every night because it was so good! Pati, the rest of the family and employes were very friendly and helpful at all times. The room and the bathroom were nice, with great views into the jungle from the balkony.

Not negative, but important to know: The house is quite a way up the mountain, which was nice because of wonderful views, but it means you either take a tuktuk or walk 45min to an hour into town. The hosts were always happy to help with organising a driver.

The whole place was amazing.Tucked away in a private place away from the city centre, it overlooked a tiny forest..absolutely zen! Quiet, fresh refreshing mountain air in the morning....peaceful..a truly great getaway.Our huge room was gorgeous. .housed 4 of us comfortably..we had a private balcony, living room, tea room...the bathroom was huge, spotless ,with toiletries, the shower area had stones that acted like a mini pedicure for our feet. Hot steaming shower..heavenly! We had a fantastic dinner that night...so much home cooked food. The hosts were simply warm people who were there to see to our every need...Breakfast too was good....we wished we could have stayed longer as the stay was too short to enjoy the place...Highly recommend them...if you wish to have a peaceful holiday in Kandy.

Tranquil, peaceful location up in the hills of Kandy. Far away from the street hassle of the city. Tasteful building and interior and an exceptional host! Warm, calm welcome and super supportive in finding our way to the trainstations etc. Delicious dinner cooked in family atmosphere.

It was hard to get a tuktuk or taxi to go to the city. Since a lot of drivers refused to come up the hill especially in the early morning. Other drivers did not know where the location was. 3 different WiFi's present, a bit annoying to get all passwords.

Dinner was amazing - probably the best meal we had in Sri Lanka because it tasted fresh, simple and light, but packed with flavor. Room was spacious and had a gorgeous view- just remember that you're high up on a hill so the climb will be a bit scary. Staff were lovely and accommodating. I would have stayed longer if I could.

I am *assuming* that the hotel had nothing to do with this, but the tuktuk driver called by the hotel was a bit dishonest. He charged us triple the amount we paid previously to go from the hotel to the train station. We called him out on it, so he lowered his price pretty easily, but still not cool.

Very comfortable stay in the hills above Kandy town. Despite the fact that it is too steep and too far to walk into Kandy, it was the right choice for us. The road is narrow and winding, a short TukTuk ride is the answer. The rooms were very comfortable, with good mattresses, and enough space to put things. The owners were lovely and very helpful with any questions we had. Breakfast was great, the one dinner we had there was very tasty, great home cooking. Very recommendable to stay here!!
