We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and we liked everything about the place, spacious rooms with god AC, cleaning service on demand, great swimmig pool with beautiful views, very tasty food in the restaurant for a reasonable price, highly recommend visiting, the best hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka

the hotel is not at the beach, it is within walking distance and you have a view of the beach but still, the closest beautiful beach is Rekawa Beach but you need either a scooter or a tuk tuk to get there. The hotel is quite far from the city centre

The absolutely best part for the stay was one of the staff members and our favourite waiter Mr. Ravi. He was very polite, had a nice calm voice, very attentive, always happy to help and very professional.. words can not describe the high level and high quality of service Mr. Ravi provided us. He truly is an asset to the hotel. Mr. Ravi thank you for everything! on the other note about the hotel itself, very nice very clean, staff is very professional and nice, the rooms are exactly like in the pictures... the views are exceptional. Would 100% recommend. We stayed so far in a lot of hotels, but this one is in the top 2 😊 You have a lot of meal variations available! you can also book different trips through the hotel which is awesome!

occasionally problems with cockroaches. the staff took care of them immediately. It is a tropical island so it wasn't a big deal. ;) Everything was perfect!

At first the entrance was through a construction area of the new part of hotel, which wasnt a good first impression. pass the entrance we were welcome in the restaurant with a a magical view,a freshly made juice and early check-in. The pool perfect temperature, the rooms big and clean and most importantly the service, all boys run hotel, they were always ready to help, husband got tanned way to much and the gardener collected aloe vera from the plants, and in the kitchen they peeled and blended and gave us the gel for his shoulders and back, help us find coconut oil for the gilrs hair, and things like that, that are out of their service scope made us feel soo much at home. the food was amazing and very tasty ... we saw lots of monkeys in the pool, peacocks, squierrrels, my little ones loved this place, and we will definiotely be back once the new part they are building its completed. they helped us with every transfer, every tour, every detail. after we stayed in 3 hotels more and none got close to their service of Ananthaya beach.

We spent a few wonderful days here with our kids — this place is absolutely ideal for a family vacation. The hotel currently has only four villas, so it’s very peaceful and quiet. The atmosphere feels almost like home: the staff are incredibly kind, always smiling, and super helpful with anything we needed. Everything was well organized and stress-free. The view from the hotel is simply breathtaking — lush jungle and the ocean all in one! 🌊 The bay is naturally protected by breakwaters, so the water is calm and safe for children to swim. Every day we enjoyed delicious, fresh seafood, fruits, and vegetables — everything tasted natural and full of flavor. The hotel grounds are magical: full of greenery, with squirrels running around, colorful birds flying above, and even peacocks visiting! Down in the jungle, we spotted monkeys, mongooses, and monitor lizards — the kids were thrilled! 🐒🦚 We were also impressed by the hotel’s spa center, which offers a wide range of relaxing treatments — perfect after a day of exploring. You can even arrange a private yoga session with a professional instructor, practicing with a stunning ocean view — an unforgettable experience! 🧘‍♀️🌅 The hotel also offers amazing excursions — we went on a safari and visited a few beautiful places nearby. Everything was super comfortable: private car, AC, knowledgeable driver-guide, and flexible timing — perfect when traveling with children. If you're looking for a peaceful, green escape with great food, warm people, and unforgettable nature — this is the place. We’re already dreaming of coming back! Rating: 10/10 ⭐

There are some stray dogs on the beach — this is not the hotel’s fault, but rather a common issue in Sri Lanka in general. Most of them are harmless, but it’s best to be cautious and not leave children unattended, especially near food or in the early mornings and evenings.

Sri Lankan Hospitality at its Very Best !! The entire team of Ananthaya Resort, Tangalle were very very friendly, kind hearted and generous. We were completely mesmerised by the Hospitality shown by the Team. Mr Ishan was very kind and so helping towards us. Right from the time we did check-in to check-out, he was very helpful. Mr Chaturanga, Mr Malith and Mr Srikanth from the restaurant team were simply fabulous. Their attention towards the guests and their hands on care and help will blow your mind. And yes also their smiles. Ananthaya Resort is surely the go to place if you want the peaceful vibe, wonderful sea views, amazing hospitality and a very lush green property to just relax and enjoy the Sri Lankan hospitality.

Our stay at Ananthaya Beach on March 29th, 2025, was a fantastic last-minute decision after we changed our travel plans from Sigiriya. We were immediately greeted with a lovely refreshing juice, and the caretakers set a wonderfully relaxed tone. Understanding how tired we were after waking up at 4 am for Yala Safari, they let us get to our room right away without asking for passports immediately – so accommodating! The room itself was spacious with calming sea views and was conveniently close to the pool. Swimming with my partner and seeing a firefly for the first time was a truly magical and romantic moment. The food was another highlight! Our dinner on the first night was so good that we didn't hesitate to have lunch there the next day as well. Huge compliments to the chef – the meals were great, and it was nice to even see the fresh seafood they had sourced. What really stood out was the incredibly welcoming and trusting nature of the caretakers. They kindly allowed us a very late checkout around 1:30 pm, which made us feel completely at ease and valued. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer due to a non-cancellable booking in Tangalle. The single minor hiccup was a tuk-tuk driver, arranged via the hotel, who tried to charge us extra. Despite that small point, I wholeheartedly recommend Ananthaya Beach! It was a genuinely comfortable and welcoming stay.

This was an awesome place for us. Our stay was impeccable, the room was spacious with great views and amazing pool. The food was also very good and very fresh every day. However the exceptional part of this hotel was the staff. The staff was very professional and always friendly and polite. We would like to particularly thank Ravi who was exceptionally good and attentive to us providing high level of service with genuine kindness. We are happy to become friends! This place is highly recommended and beyond expectations and will remain to our hearts. Also great value for money.

Although the place is a bit isolated we didn't have problem with that, on the opposite we liked it. With a tuc-tuc in 25 minutes we were in the most beautiful beach of the area in our opinion, the Silent beach and other nice beaches.

If I visit Sri Lanka again, I would love to stay at this hotel. It truly feels like a little piece of paradise. The clean pool with its stunning view, the breathtaking room views, the facilities, the restaurant, the spa, and the staff—all were exceptional. A special thanks to the two restaurant staff members who made us feel at home, especially the senior gentleman. This is what great service looks like! They were always helpful, attentive to our needs, and greeted us with a warm smile. This is a hotel I would recommend to all my friends.

The view is incredible, and the whole experience was top-notch. We were very well looked after by both the staff and the owner. We enjoyed celebrating the New Year with a taste of traditional Sri Lankan party food for breakfast and were truly made to feel part of the family. The private beach is ideal for young children, as it's sheltered from the stronger waves just to the left. That beach, to the left, is honestly one of the most stunning we've ever seen. We 100% recommend this hotel – especially for families.
